Classical Mahogany Bookcase. Beveled Glass. Outstanding craftsmanship is in every corner of this classical 1890 era bookcase- we were told that it is from Vienna. The polished finish is original except for a re-varnished top. It is extremely fine with a little fading on the sides and minor mars at the edges. Mahogany wood has glowing antique patina. There is fine satinwood inlaid stringing. Glass panes have a wide bevel, locks are operational. Shelves are adjustable on wooden supports in the upper compartment, which is a separate piece for easier moving. The drawer has solid oak sides with hand cut dovetails. Solid Mahogany inlaid triple bookcase Curvd glass c1900
Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. Here is a fine very late 19th century mostly solid walnut and very tall at 8 and 1/2 feet bookcase. I love the simple architectural features of the carved arches over each glass door which combines the look of solid walnut and It would be fantastic in a library setting or even as a display cabinet as working locksets are being replaced as I write this so both doors will easily lock. It is perfect for the room a the top of a narrow stairwell as it dismantles and sets up very easily. The base with the two drawers is the first level to set up. This base section retains the original porcelain castors. Each of the side panels is screwed to a rear panel. It is easiest to handle these steps like this. Add one side and then the other. Then the center piece for the shelves slips in. Add the shelves and the front center piece to Which each of the doors ... morewill lock. Add the crown and then it is time to hang the doors. 1800 curved glass bookcase / inlaid marketry drop front secretary desk unusual
hello. i have a nice old antique drop front secretary. the wood would seem to be mahogany. And some mahogany veneer. marketry front from an estate sale. Just down the road, i will tell you all that i know about it. a bit of damage. But it appears to have it all. and the damage is all minor) nice beveled mirror& shelf. a lead glass top section( missing an inside shelf) a curved glass door on the left( bookshelf) side. the glass is wavy and i am certain it is original. a drop front secretary( a bit of veneer loss on the surface) but look at the inlay in the center. original pigeon holes inside of the desk( one drawer is missing a tiny brass knob inside) the drawer directly beneath the desk is burl wood and it has a serpentine( curved) front. the other 3 drawers. 2 bottom and the small one over the desk are flat front) i do not have a 2 ... moredollar key that fits. also 2 of the original locks are missing the bookcase shelves are curved front. But i think perhaps the pulls are not original. a spot of white paint on the frame of the door is easily removed. and 2 bits of veneer to replace on the desk front. it had casters on the bottom, but they are no longer with this piece of furniture. it is easy to find 4 more. i have not cleaned the dust off this unusual piece. i just got it yesterday. it would seem to have the original finish and save for the pulls( and they may be original as well. it is exactly as it was made. perhaps victorian. Perhaps a little later. i WILL NOT SHIP this item. you may come and get it yourself. you may send someone to fetch it for you. on this matter i am firm. it is large and heavy. mom& jon are getting me some measurements now. height is 74 inches width( across the front) is 44" depth is 15" curved glass and frame 20" across and 49 1/2" high green leaded glass is 20" by 17 1/2" beveled mirror is about 17 1/

A very fine antique. Circa 1880's, simple Eastlake style solid walnut two door bookcase over two drawer base. One piece construction. There are four walnut fronted maple adjustable shelves, the interior back boards also of maple. The panels on the two drawers, and the cornice panel, are burl walnut veneer. The doors retain the original wavy glass panels, and the lock. The drawers have their locks and original hardware. The sides of the walnut case are recessed panels. It is on iron casters. The furniture measures 81" tall by 45-1/2" wide by 16-1/2" the shelves 10-1/2 deep. Excellent condition: original finish, walnut boards without chip or cracks, burl veneer complete. Antique Bookcase Large 7 Feet Tall Bold Ornately Carved Wood & Floated Glass
This is the most ornately carved antique you have ever seen. I've had three antique dealers says the same. The front is intricately hand carved with reliefs of lions, leather, scroll work, and of course the Atlas(Zuess? figures holding up the world. Wood is possibly poplar. It's very soft white wood with original dark stain. Glass is original floated, hence wavy with tiny air bubbles. Two original keys also included. Bookcase comes with German penny that was found in lower middle drawer. I was told owners do this to give provenance along the way. Each time it sells. So I will be adding a penny to the continuation! This bookcase was originally auctioned from world famous Red Baron's to The Yellowstone Club. I thought I had lost it forever. Here is a very handsome and seven foot tall Empire Revival period solid mahogany bookcase with some gorges figured and feathered veneer. The arched original glass doors add an elegant touch. Open the doors and find a grain painted interior with three adjustable shaped shelves. The base contains two deep hand dovetailed drawers with original wooden pulls. The"case" or the top section is also dovetailed construction. This bookcase has the nice rounded edges and the simple crown with the lovely figured veneer. This bookcase uses mahogany, rosewood, and walnut to create its lovely patterns. Not only is this bookcase lovely. But also very functional. The bottom features two drawers that open and close easily. The glass doors are locking(the lock functions quite easily) and one key is included. Inside are four adjustable wood shelves. These shelves adjust with alligator brackets and are 17.5″ deep. Sturdy bun feet keep the bookcase slightly elevated and quite sturdy. This antique bookcase is really in excellent condition. The drawers and doors function perfectly and the entire unit is stable and sturdy. We do believe that the shelves and glass have been added/replaced since the piece was made. They do not seem as old as 1870. There are also some age separations on the bottom panels of both doors which can be seen in the photos. They are cosmetic only and do not affect the structural integrity of the bookcase. Otherwise this is a unique piece of antique furniture which would look lovely in your home! A very fine antique. Circa 1890's, solid mahogany, and stripped mahogany veneers, double door bookcase. The case has curved front corners carved with spiraling acanthus leaves. Large carved claw feet are on front. The case sides and the top board are solid mahogany. Each door has the original wavy glass panel, brass escutcheons, and the key(the two locks are missing their catch. each compartment holds three adjustable mahogany stained maple board shelves. It measures 56-1/4" tall by 54" wide by 15" deep, the shelves 11-1/4" deep. Excellent condition: beautiful original finish, no chips or cracks to mahogany boards, veneers without chips. The glass panels are undamaged.

Here is a gorgeous solid walnut Empire Revival bookcase from about 1880. Only two shelves are shown in the photos. However, there are four removable/adjustable shelves. The lock sets are original in the door and drawers and there are two keys which fit both. Easy to transport and to break down and set up. This bookcase has the base, the crown and then, basically, a stack of wood to include the two glass doors. Height to the top = 92" Height to top of base = 16 3/4" Depth at base = 20 1/2" Depth at center of bookcase = 13 1/2" Width at the top = 57" Width at base = 51" This beautiful and unusual bookcase came out of a well known estate here in Charleston.
