Beautiful Hand Painted Gold Embellished Victorian Lacquered Sliding Book Rack
Up for auction is a beautiful Victorian era black lacquered wood sliding book stand. This is a great piece and have never seen one similar. It is made of hardwood and beautifully lacquered in black and embellished with gold detailing and painted on each end are Lily of the Valley flowers. This beautiful little Victorian book rack used to belong to my grandmother who died back in 1966 and has sat in storage in my parents garage not seeing the light of day for almost 47 years. Check the photos closely for there is some crazing to the lacquer which is typical and one side where the hinges are screwed to the end.
