If you are a lover of the beautiful elegance of the Victorian period and are in search for a stunning display piece you will positively love this etagere. This measures a total height of 80 in( 6 ft 8 in) A total width of 34 inches and a total depth at the deepest portion of 14 3/4 inches, and the approximate weight of this piece is 55 lbs. The top of this etagere offers a incised carved pediment that rests between an arch. With raised carved panels of walnut accenting each side. Below is the vintage replacement mirror that is in excellent condition and measures 29 in high by 16 inches wide. Finely turned walnut spindle posts with turned finials, flank the mirror and offer support for the display shelves on each side. Below the mirror is an additional carved display shelf that is supported by a pierced carving. The largest shelf rests below the mirror and boasts of feather walnut and offers a unique small storage drawer below with early hand-cut dovetailed joints, and an open carved small gallery at the back. Elegant out-swept carved legs support the larger shelf and the display shelf at the base with the front legs having pierced carvings at about midway. It is rare as it has been crafted from the most beautiful burr walnut, and only a few bookcases were made in such beautiful French burr walnut. And to cap it all, it has wonderful hand cut and masterfully executed, inlaid decoration. It has two glazed doors on top for displaying your favourite books with two useful drawers below. T he two paneled doors on the bottom open to reveal a spacious cupboard. It retains it's original handles and locks. The shelves are all adjustable which makes it easy to have different sized books disp layed. There are two useful drawers for extra storage. Antique Victorian 1870s Bamboo 3 shelf Book Case ~ AMAZING Condition ~ Pokerwork
Description: Here is a MARVELOUS example of a Victorian Era Bamboo Book Case. It has the tortoise shell decoration to the bamboo parts as well as some pyrography leopard spots remaining on the shelves. There is also a pair of sharpened dowels running up each side and nice turned ball finials. It is about 36" tall to the knobs on the rear legs. the top shelf sits about 29" above the floor.it is about 20" wide and 11" deep. it is complete and the shelves are all solid at the corners. the two top shelves are 100% the bottom shelf had a small split near one corner but that was repaired a long time ago from the looks of it and the board is feels as solid as the other two. The is an age crack or two here and there but none seem to be in a critical area. The bottom right rail of the little decorative gallery at the rear of the ... moretop shelf has a tiny amount of wiggle room but remains solid as are the rest of the gallery pieces. I also added two more pictures of the feet of the shelf which shows that each leg ends in a solid and complete bamboo"ring" node. Those of you familiar with these shelves will know how rare that is on a piece of this age. The color and patina are FIRST RATE as you can see in my pictures. Lease look at all of my pictures to judge color and condition for yourself. This is one of the best examples that I have come across in years. At the case corners it has carvings and the case sits on a nicely molded base. There are six adjustable shelves inside with extra supports. Antique Victorian What Not Shelf Walnut Furniture Corner Bookcase Etargere 1800s
This auction is for a wonderful antique corner what not shelf. It is Victorian. Was used to display fancy glassware etc. and from the mid to late 1800's. Made of a beautiful walnut, it is of a nice weight and is sturdy. It is about 60 inches tall. It is in very good condition for its age- it does have one piece of decorative trim that is missing on the upper left(see photos) This could be replaced or you could probably remove the decorative trim from both sides if you want to even it up. There is one small area of old scratches in the wood on the second to bottom shelf.see last picture) I consider this very minor. I believe it is the original finish and it is in great condition. Made in Europe Circa 1890 Carved oak Stunning carvings Pair Slight differences Strong and sturdy Excellent overall condition, Here we have a very hard to find pair of antique carved oak bookcases. They were made in Europe sometime around 1890 of solid oak. Today they remain in excellent condition with only two minor cosmetic issues that have been pictured. There is a small break to one of the mouldings and an age separation on one of the side panels. The pair is strong and will last for many years. There are slight differences between the two bookcases ... morethat are hard to notice unless you are looking for them. The left bookcase is slightly darker than the right. The carvings are also slightly different in spots which we have tried to captivate in the photos. However. These differences serve to make the bookcases more a unique pair than separate them. Both the upper doors and lower doors on the bookcases lock and there are four keys included. The wooden shelves in the upper sections are adjustable and quite strong. The bookcases break down into two parts each(top and bottom) for easier transporting. This is a rare Victorian era pair antique bookcases in carved oak. Both bookcases open to reveal large storage areas with shelves. The alligator brackets provide strong. Versatile shelf support. These carved columns differ slightly but complement each other very well. Again these carvings differ slightly. But together they look complete. This close up shows the level of detail in the intricate door carvings. The oak wood has a lovely patina and the hand carvings are very well done. Here for auction we have an unusual heavily carved Anglo Indian bookcase dating to the late 19th century. This interesting and unusual bookcase consists of three shelves flanked by either side by heavily foliate carved panels on swept feet. The intricate carving has been beautifully done and is very impressive and will make a real statement in any home. The bookcase itself is sturdy enough for everyday use and the solid shelves will support good sized books.
