$375.00 Shipping Condition: Used Location: Scranton, United States This 2 section barrister bookcase has been refinished on the outside maybe 20 years ago and painted on the inside and on the back in a blue/grey sort ... moreof color. Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight and all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. I would still deliver to most of the rest of New England, all of NJ, parts of PA that are East of Harrisburg and parts of NY that are East of Binghamton for $200. Vintage Steelcase Industrial Metal Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase w/o Base
For auction is one vintage 2-tier Steelcase lawyers bookcase. It features two identical sections with retractable glass doors and the top cap with the Steelcase logo. But does not have a base. A base would need to be made for it, but even a simple, rectangular wood base(painted or stained) would do. It would also be ideal for adding sections to an existing stack. It is painted a silvery gray color and has light marks and scratches common to age and use. Lovely early 1900's Globe wernicke stacking quartersawn oak bookcase. 3 stacking units with a seperate contour top and contour base for a total of 5 pieces. Bookcase is stained black. All sections labeled Globe Wernicke Grade 297 which is quartersawn figured weathered oak. All sections have original bands around each unit. Each section has original brass knob on door, and each section has original antique wavy glass. All doors open easily and have original scissor mechanisims. Vintage Macey(it has the stickers inside on the middle and top units) I believe it is Mahogany Wood Stacking Bookcase in as pictured vintage used conditi on.Approx 51-1/ tall by 33-3/4" wide by at the top unit 12-1/2" deep/ back and at the bottom unit 15" Back/ deep. It has wear and some damaged parts including the middle window is broken the bottom window has a chip out of the left front top side. I pictured a nail on the right side and a screw on the left side on the edges of the bottom larger unit. On the bottom and middle it has some de-lamination warping inside. those appear to be the main places of flaws that I can see. A 5 stack Globe Wernicke Grade 598 solid mahogany with rich finish barrister with brass trim. 7 pieces including the top and base. All original wavy glass with old brass knobs and bands around each section. Each section is labeled with the stickers. The bottom is a stepback unit and has an unusually big section which is labeled E. This refers to the size and is desireable at 13 1/2 inches deep and very tall. Can accomodate large law books. Photo albums and collectibles. There is slight wear to the top cap piece which is in one of the photos. Someone may have left a plant on top and the ring from water appeared. No damage to wood here just finish. It cannot be seen when the bookcase is together. On the base there is some wear on the right side that looks like it happened maybe 20 years ago and a 3-4 inch metal band is missing. The neat thing about this bookcase is that all labels are different. Look closely at the pictures. The bottom bookcase is manufactured by"MACEY" Grand Rapids Michigan. See picture. The top two cases are paper labels and both have GLOBE WERNICKE scissor door mechanisms. The third from top shows patent dates. See picture. This was called the"Wernicke System"Elastic" Bookcase. All original antique wavy glass, original bands around each section, has original brass knobs on each door and each door has scissors to open and they open with ease. Each section is labeled Hale. The bookcase has no signs of wear or nicks or breaks or repairs. there is slight wear to top that I photoed that does not take away at all, but I photoed anyway. It reads" Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase Made in Cincinnati Standard D-10 1/4 unit pattern 110 grade 598 1/2. The bottom cabinet piece does not have a label/ makers mark but it is identical to the top. The hardware looks fairly old. Does show age and wear. There are scratches and scuffs on wood. I would refinish it unless you like the look. Glass is chip and crack free. Cabinets open and close with ease. Collector's piece lawyers barrister stacking bookcase with a lovely dark reddish brown original finish. This is a rare double wide colonial barrister that comes apart for a total of 6 seperate pieces. The wood is Mahogany and is grade 598 1/2 the finest they made. The doors open and slide into the bookcase to protect the bookcases. This bookcase came from the library at Marymount college after it was closed. All sections that hold the books are labeled with a special label. Says Philadelphia. New York, London, and Paris. The base is also labeled A-C Double Colonial Drawer Base. The bookcase has two desireable drawers at the base of the bookcase. The bookcase is extremely well made with thick, heavy mahogany. It has the metal strappings on its sides. Two sections are 10 inch and two are 12 inch. The glass doors open and close properly. It has the Macey's logo on one of the sections. It is 49 inches high x 12 inches deep x 34 inches wide. The finish is really nice with the exception of a few stains on its top. There are two knobs missing. Untitled Document This vintage steel barrister bookcase is a single self-contained unit designed to stack in multiples. This barrister/ lawyer's case has a thick glass window that lifts and slides into the case. And and overall rugged and sturdy design that was built to last many decades of office abuse. It has a classic putty gray exterior finish and an olive drab green interior. I can't find a maker's stamp anywhere, only an old Georgia Power tag inside and a sticker designating it for the Engineering& Architecture dept. The glass door still slides and operates smoothly, and there are no dents or serious cosmetic damage. There is some rust on the underside of the cabinet, which can be seen in the last photo above.
