Solid Mahogany inlaid triple bookcase Curvd glass c1900
Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. Fine quality piece. Measures 72 inches wide x 54 inches high x 16 inches deep. The gothic revival begins in earnest in 1837 with the publication in London of Pugin's Contrasts. But this gothic revival bookcase with glazed doors must date towards the 4th quarter of the 19th century. Exceptionally fine, stepped out center section with gold incising& ebonized features surrounding a carved urn sitting on a pedestal base flanked by raised burl panels and two framed glass doors enclosing bookcase sections with three original& adjustable wooden shelves. It has turned& fluted burl columns on each side and striking rounded corners featuring fine burl panels. The plinth base has two functional drawers and the top has a stepped up burl crest flanked by two reclining Lions. This beautiful"three toned" Victorian bookcase is presented with original finish. Original wooden shelves and original hand forged shelf supports. There are tiny cracks at some tips of the original wavy leaded glass doors as shown. Some panes rattle when the doors are opened. But we have not attempted restoration to the leading. Three separate banks of shelves adjust on iron pegs. Brass handles are original on this American made antique furniture. Detailed moldings. French Walnut Triple Bookcase. 1880 Antique, Wavy Glass Doors. All original from around 1880. This classical triple bookcase has three doors with wavy glass and a few scuffs. Carved of solid wormy walnut with raised panels. The finish has warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Shelves and the paneled back are oak. Shelves adjust on wooden supports. The key and locks still work on this historic European furniture. For easier moving, this display cabinet can be disassembled. This fine early bookcase features early hand hewn. Mortised& tenon joinery and pegged construction with the backside of the bookcase having chamfered panels. This amazing early bookcase dis-assembles into 12 pieces plus the 9 original adjustable shelves for easy handling during shipping& moving. The key provided works the center and left door locks but the lock on the right door appears stuck. Early hand chisel marks are preset on the topside portion of the bookcase crown further authenticating the early hand construction of this triple bookcase. In fantastic condition. with original finish. has wavy glass. came out of a lawyers estate and has been in the family since the late 1800s. 75" wide x 73" tall the two end doors the shelf is 19" wide. the middle shelf if 28 1/2" wide. It is paneled on the back and sides. It all breaks down in to 4 pieces. top. and each of the 3 section. I have not seen one this nice in a very long time.
