Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight and all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. I would still deliver to most of the rest of New England, all of NJ, parts of PA that are East of Harrisburg and parts of NY that are East of Binghamton for $200. U.S. Navy SSPO Lycoming Stacking Barristers Bookcase! Complete 5 sections! NICE!
Up for your consideration we have this OAK(we are pretty sure oak. It's solid wood either way) Lycoming Barristers Bookcase that used to belong to the U.S. Navy. It was used in the SSP Office or the Strategic Systems Programs Offices. The U.S. Nave tags are still on the inside and I believe the middle section may be a Globe Wernicke because it is a different color inside the cabinet and has brass number plates in the front and side of the interior of the cabinet. I just got this piece myself and was going to restore it but the wife says no more"projects" It is not all the same shade of stain but for some reason the stains blend nicely. The small sections have a dark interior stain but the larger section has a lighter interior for some reason as well. The set has 5 total pieces. The base with 6" tall legs and 10" to ... morethe top of the platform x 34" wide x 13" deep, Two"Small Box" sections at 34" wide x 14-3/4" tall x 13" deep. The"Large Box" section witch is 34" wide x 18-3/4" tall x 13" deep, and finally the top section to give it a nice capped and smooth look. There are some imperfection in this bookcase like scuffs and bumps in the stain. It would look SPECTACULAR with a little restoration work, Sanding, refinishing etc. It is in very solid sturdy condition just well used. All the doors work go up and stay in when opened. There are no problems with functionality just some small cosmetic stuff. The large section does not have pegs on the top for the next section to stack onto. It may sound like a lot but it really isn't all that much too it, It just depends on how far you would want to take it. The bookcase looks GREAT as it sits, It's not an"eyesore" it still retains all it's original grandeur and style! Most of the scuffs and bumps would at a minimum diminish with a good wood polish or oil which I may get to but it sits uncleaned in the pics. WE CAN PROVIDE SHIPPING. Including the scarce to find original hollow fillable glass stopper. No cracks or even tiny chips and the glass is unusually clear for this type of display piece. Usually these type of display sections are found with much water staining and cloudiness present on the inside. Not the case with this one. The bottom fillable section has some very light streaks or spotty places inside around the bottom which look like will probably come clean- no real noticeable water staining or cloudiness. All this goes magically transparent anyway when any of the glass sections are filled with colored water. So no real big deal. The height of bottom fillable section is about 13 inches from extreme tip to tip. About 7 inches in diameter at the widest point. The height of the pedestal base is about 3-3/4 inches. Antique tiger oak stacking barrister bookcase. It has two glass front sections. Original glass. It stands 39" tall. 34 1/2" wide, 12 1/2" deep. Each shelf is 13 1/2" tall. 6 glass-front sections& top of stacking bookcase made by Macey& sold by A to Z Business Bureau. Baltimore, MD. 5 sections& top are in fair to good condition. Each section is 11" deep. There are three approx. 13 1/4" high sections, one approx. 11 1/2" high section& one approx 10" high section. The back of the sixth section, approx. 11 1/2" high, is damaged. I do not have a base for this bookcase. A few additional photos available upon request. No returns. Refund must be requested upon looking at bookcase. Not after picking it up. Antique Oak Sectional Barrister Bookcase Made by Macey - 4 Stacking Sections
Selling an Antique Oak Barrister Bookcase made by Macey. Measures 62h x 34w x 11d and has 4 sections in great condition. There is no issue with the Glass. Just a reflection from the flash. I am told the base(pictured) is probably not the original, it is the one I received with the unit. There was a repair made to the top at some point which is highlighted in 2 pictures. Unit originally had lights which were removed. You can see a small slit made at the top, back of each unit to pass a cord thru. Does not affect the unit from the front. The Barrister must be picked up on or before November 11.
