Black Forest 1880 Antique Carved Oak Bookcase China Hunt Cabinet. Item# B-19824. From the fabled"Black Forest" region where France. Switzerland and Germany meet, this hand carved solid oak bookcase or china cabinet dates from around 1880. The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina and just enough wear for a little character. Waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain its glowing luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The upper section is a separate piece for easier moving. Original glass doors are wavy. The right door has a working lock and a slight warp, see photos. Shelves adjust on wooden supports. Drawers below have hand carved face pulls and hand cut dovetail joints. Beautiful lower cabinet doors with carved shotgun, pheasant, fox, duck and fish in the desirable"Hunt" style. Very detailed carving with fishing nets and fish baskets! Lower cabinet has large hand-cut, dovetailed drawer with beautifully carved wood pull. Beautiful raised panel sides. This piece has the highly desirable darker oak patina. Two original keys for upper and lower cabinets are included. The key in the lower cabinet is stuck in the door. On the bright side, you don't have to worry about losing it.
