I think the wood could be walnut the more I look at it in this dark finish. The overall size is 21 inches square and 35 inches high overall. Each section is 10 inches wide, 7 inches deep, 11 inches high and 12 inches high on the bottom shelf. It is missing a few of the brass tacks, but overall it is complete. The bottom of one of the sections has a crack and oval stain, which has no effect on the bookcase. Shipping starts at $185 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.

The figured solid walnut pedal pump organ by the Estey Organ Company of Brattleboro, Vermont USA, standing on the original castors with decorative galleried back and greek key detailing, the centre now housing two shelves acting as a bookcase, the flip up top opening to reveal the organ keys with gilt painted makers name and 36 white keys, and 25 black keys. The internals of the organ have obviously all been removed but the pumps remain for decorative effect. Bookcases were first introduced in the 15th century and with few changes along the way to their design. The history of bookcases is indeed a simple and short affair. What cannot be argued with however is that books are as still supremely valued today as they were in the time of the Tudors but whether an organ has ever held books so competently is somewhat open to debate. Estey could sense a change in the American people, and was anticipating a shift towards a more music-centric society. And to cap it all, it has wonderful hand cut and masterfully executed, inlaid decoration. It has two glazed doors on top for displaying your favourite books with two useful drawers below. T he two paneled doors on the bottom open to reveal a spacious cupboard. It retains it's original handles and locks. It has a burl walnut veneered top with drawer having molding and a carved grapes pull. Below are arched glass doors with locks and a key that operates both locks. At the case corners it has carvings and the case sits on a nicely molded base. There are six adjustable shelves inside with extra supports. This auction is for a wonderful antique corner what not shelf. It is Victorian. Was used to display fancy glassware etc. and from the mid to late 1800's. Made of a beautiful walnut, it is of a nice weight and is sturdy. It is about 60 inches tall. It is in very good condition for its age- it does have one piece of decorative trim that is missing on the upper left(see photos) This could be replaced or you could probably remove the decorative trim from both sides if you want to even it up. There is one small area of old scratches in the wood on the second to bottom shelf.see last picture) I consider this very minor. I believe it is the original finish and it is in great condition. The beautiful old finish has very warm antique patina with just enough mars at the edges for character. Waxed and buffed. Here is a gorgeous solid walnut Empire Revival bookcase from about 1880. Only two shelves are shown in the photos. However, there are four removable/adjustable shelves. The lock sets are original in the door and drawers and there are two keys which fit both. Easy to transport and to break down and set up. This bookcase has the base, the crown and then, basically, a stack of wood to include the two glass doors. Height to the top = 92" Height to top of base = 16 3/4" Depth at base = 20 1/2" Depth at center of bookcase = 13 1/2" Width at the top = 57" Width at base = 51" This beautiful and unusual bookcase came out of a well known estate here in Charleston. Here is a terrific late 19th to early 20th century Empire style three section one piece walnut bookcase with fluted columns. Octagonal feet with casters and dentition across the top of the front as well as old glass. This large functional old bookcase stands 65 inches tall and measures 74 inches wide by 18 inches front to back, with the feet being it's widest point. The top board on the bookcase itself is 72 inches long and 17 inches deep front to back. Inside the bookcase, the internal measurements of the bookcase on each end is 23 inches wide by 56 1/2 inches tall and 13 1/2 inches deep, while the central section measures the same height and depth but is 22 inches wide. Each of the three sections offers it's base as well as three additional adjustable shelves for storing books, with each of the shelves measuring 12 inches deep with ... morean additional inch beveled edge at the front. The old glass is completely intact and free of any cracks or breaks. The bookcase does have old lock mechanisms but I have not located a key to work them at this point. Overall this bookcase is in very good condition for it's age, with only two small spot across the front with any damage to the veneer and potential easy restorations if the new owner desired. There are a few minor nicks and small scratches to one side of the case but otherwise this bookcase is in very good condition for a piece it's age. Carved of solid wormy walnut with raised panels. The finish has warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Shelves and the paneled back are oak. Shelves adjust on wooden supports. The key and locks still work on this historic European furniture. For easier moving, this display cabinet can be disassembled.
