Solid Mahogany inlaid triple bookcase Curvd glass c1900
Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. This is a beautiful golden oak victorian bookcase circa 1880. The bookcase has 2 glass doors. 4 adjustable shelves, and 2 storage drawers at the base. The drawers have the nice original hardware including key eschusions and locks although there is no key. However the doors doesn't have the key eschusion but has the lock and the working key. The same key does not fit the doors and drawers. The bookcase is a nice size. It measures 70 1/2" tall, 36" wide, and is 13 1/2" deep at the top 12" deep at the shelves and 15" deep at the base. The original beveled mirror on the top backsplash is 10 1/2" x 6 1/2" oval and has a smoky appearance. There is nice trim around the doors. Antoine Paris, flanked on each side of the central by a glass panel surmounted by original marble top with beveled edge. It has two adjustable glass shelfs and a mirror backing. Antoine Krieger. Born in Alsace on June 5, 1804, set up shop in the Faubourg Sainte-Antoine(the furniture-making district of Paris) in 1826 with his brother as Maison Krieger and was married there in 1829. The marriage of his two daughters, one in 1849 to the cabinet-maker Claude-Julien Cosse, and the other in 1853 to the merchant Henry Racault, increased his prosperity. He then formed a partnership with his sons-in-law one of whom was to retire in 1858 and the other in 1870. At that date, ... morethe furniture and tapestry-making establishment, situated at 76 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, was extended to include no. 74 of the same street. A grandson by marriage became one of the partners in 1880. On Krieger’s death in 1856, the company passed to his sons-in-law and became Cosse-Racault et Cie. Finally, after further name changes, it became Damon& Cie circa 1880, and moved to 74, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine. From 1870 to 1955, when it was struck off the register of commerce, the company remained a family affair, in the hands of the Damon family which descended from Antoine Krieger's wife. Antoine Krieger, who retired from the company in 1860, and his son-in-law Cosse, on their deaths, respectively in 1869 and 1883, left considerable property. Cosse had banked upon the transformation of Paris by Haussmann by constructing an apartment building situated on the boulevard Voltaire. The Maison Krieger won prizes at the Exposition des produits de l'Industrie in 1849 and in the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 and 1855. The wood used on this bookcase is oak which has developed a lovely patina over the years. The top section has Corsica glass in it which adds a unique look to the piece. Both top and bottom sections house one shelf each and there is a single drawer for storage. The entire bookcase is finely decorated with carvings ... moreof lions. Cherub heads, and floral decor. The lions heads at the top of the bookcase hold brass rings in their mouths, the lions on the bottom section do not. Both doors lock with included key. The drawer is fashioned with hand cut dovetails. Overall the bookcase is quite sturdy. There are a few minor flaws such as an age split on the right side and a repaired section of moulding at the top of the glass door. Besides minor wear consistent with age these are purely cosmetic issues and the piece is in very good shape. It does break down into top and bottom sections for easier transport. The relatively small width of this piece makes it ideal for filling smaller spaces in a variety of rooms. Plenty of storage space in this wonderful bookcase. The carving is beautifully done on this door at the bottom. The Corsica glass is unique and interesting. Here is the repaired moulding at the top of the glass. Late 19thC. Satiwood & MOP Inlaid Mahogany Bookcase Arched Doors & Paw Feet
This is an absolutely stunning piece of furniture in amazing condition for the age. This piece dates to the late 1800's. We do not know the maker of this piece or the origin. This bookcase stands 66 3/8" high and has a width at the top of 53.25" The width at the base is 55" The depth at the top is 15" and at the base it has a depth of 17" The main body of this where the books are held measures 51" w x 14" d x 57.75" h. The arched doors are flanked on the sides by 3/4 columns capped with ornate finnials. There are bands of string inlay decorating the fronts of the doors. There is a third finnial capped column between the two doors as well. Each column has beautiful designs made from satinwood and accented with mother of pearl inlay. This design is also seen above the doors. The sides have raised ... moretrim molding and the top has an inlaid stip around the front and side and dental inlaid molding beneath it. The base boasts stunning winged.Bracket paw feet. The back has bun feet. The inside has a depth of 12' and has four shelves. The original round pegs have been replaced with dowels. There are some losses to the trim molding on one side of this. There do not appear to be any losses to the inlaid areas. There is a small gap on the left side between the door and the center column. There are age and use associated surface scratches and dings. These are very minor and do not detract from the piece at all. This is a stunning bookcase that was obviously well cared for. Antique Italian Renaissance Bookcase Ornate Embellish
An absolutely stunning bookcase. This is over 100 years old and in amazing condition for the age. The original owner of this piece purchased it in Italy. It stands 69" high. Has a length of 73.25" and the inside depth is 14" This is constructed from oak and the panels are thinner than American made pieces. Each of the three doors are flanked by reeded columns with ornately carved tops. The doors have a pale green glass with wrought iron grates facing them off. The grate panels are diamond shaped with small roses on the points. The top of the case has a carved pediment that matches the trim on the base of the case. The shelves are not original to the piece. These were replaced at some point in time. The space between the shelfs ranges from 10" 13" Each door has a decorative brass keyhole. There are three keys that ... morecome with this. i just purchased another horner bookcase at over twice the price i am starting this one. i do not have room for both. But if this one does not sell, i guess i will have to put one on the porch. my house is full. anyway, for auction is a fabulous r j horner solid mahogany three door bookcase with mahogany shelves original to the piece. it has two fierce griffin at either end of the bookcase and three griffin head situated at the center and above each door. these heads are part of the finely carved freize near the top of the bookcase. it has wonderful molding along the top and below the carving and sits on finely carved feet. it is 6 feet wide over 65 inches tall without casters and 15 inches deep at the widest part at the griffins nose. it has the original key and all the door locks function perfectly. all original and no defects or issues ... moreto report. a hard to find bookcase. the pictures i have taken are terrible and do not do the piece justice and do not show the intricate and detailed carving as it should. sorry, i just can't seem to take a picture worth a flip. it can be picked up at my home or shipped. shipping expense is the buyers responsiblity. i would be glad to facilitate shipment or help in anyway in that regard or you can arrange it for yourself. good luck. ps. the buy it now price is 1500 less than one exactly like it sold for about one year ago on live auction not to mention the 18 percent buyers premium which made it almost 9500. finally for sale a very rare model r j horner double secretary or side by side bookcase with a wonderful very thick drop front and a great set of cubbies. i have been collecting antiques for 5 decades and have owned 100's of r j horner pieces and have seen thousands. But this is the only double secretary by him like this one i have ever seen. maybe i have not been at the right place or right time and you may own 20 of them, but this is the only one i have seen and therefore i believe it to be a very rare model. at any rare it is a great piece, original finish as you can see the finish is crazing a good bit. the grain and color of the piece is great with a great patina so i would not recommend stripping it under any circumstance. as you see hopefully the secondaries are birdseye maple which about every mahogany horner piece i have has ... morebirdseye. my camera is old, i am old and the pictures suck. they are too dark and do not show the huge lions head in the top well nor the standing griffins under the drop front. the top drawer is contoured serpentine top to bottom and the two lower drawers concave end to end. the freeze(sp) at the top and sides is contoured serpentine top to bottom and there is a neat scroll over the top of the big griffin on top with carved ends. there are ionic twisted columns on either side of the curved glass upper door compartment. the piece at the top and bottom has great lines and form concave forms in the center of the top and bottom sections. everything original as far as i know including hardware. i have owned this piece many years and it cost a pretty penny way back when. the best i remember, it has inventory nos. on the back and it used to have a piece of an r j horner paper label on the back. i have not looked at its back for longer than many of you have been alive and it is too full and heavy for me to move to check if it is still there, however, i guarantee it to be r j horner at his finest. it is quite heavy. when i moved it years ago i struggled, doubtful i can budge it now. it h

This is a great early Victorian walnut two piece bookcase. The bottom section is a two door glass bookcase with four adjustable shelves. The top half is a unique bookcase file storage section with three glass doors. Notice the unique horizontal files for storage on both side doors of this top section. On the brass hardware on this bookcase there is a patent date of Feb. 25th. 1858. This bookcase standing together measures 90" high, at the widest is 63" wide and the depth is 17" deep. What an outstanding piece of Victorian Walnut. I have had many that have suggested that this could of come out of a music room and the top was used to file sheet music. Antique Marked Danner Mahogany Revolving Bookcase
Highly sought after original Danner revolving bookcase in its original mahogany finish. Condition is good. Perhaps better. THe spindles are all attached and very good. The top of the bookcase has two wood separations, as shown, otherwise, this bookcase would be very good. Still very functional-turns properly. Original casters, etc. Some of the inside shelves have stain marks from old stains, etc but overall, a very nice representation of a Victorian Danner piece. Period: Late Nineteenth/ Early Twentieth Century Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1890-1900 Width: 43 inches Depth: 20 inches Height: 47 inches Of generous proportions. The figured solid walnut pedal pump organ by the Estey Organ Company of Brattleboro, Vermont USA, standing on the original castors with decorative galleried back and greek key detailing, the centre now housing two shelves acting as a bookcase, the flip up top opening to reveal the organ keys with gilt painted makers name and 36 white keys, and 25 black keys. The internals of the organ have obviously all been removed but the pumps remain for decorative effect. Bookcases were first introduced in the 15th century and with few changes along the way to their design. The history of bookcases is indeed a simple and short affair. What cannot be argued with however is that books are as still supremely valued today as they were in the time of the Tudors but whether an organ has ever held books so competently is somewhat open to debate. For over 100 years. The Estey Organ Company manufactured organs large and small in Brattleboro, VT. Jacob Estey founded the Estey Organ Company in 1846 in Brattleboro, Vermont. Estey could sense a change in the American people, and was anticipating a shift towards a more music-centric society. It is typical to the victorian era being made from a lovely mahogany. The bookcase would look well in any downstairs room amongst similar mahogany furniture. The bookcase stands on a lovely scrolled plinth supporting the main section where there are two large doors. These doors have their original glass in them and have a lovely diamond shape beading upon them. Behind the doors there are three shelves which are adjustable for storage of many books. ~ Bookcase Made Of The Oak From HMS Foudroyant- Lord Horatio Nelsons Flagship 1799-1801 ~ This oak open revolving bookcase. Was manufactured from the oak and copper from HMS Foudroyant, Nelson's flagship from the 6th of June 1799 until the end of June 1801. The bookcase was produced by Goodall of Manchester. And bears an inscribed copper plaque to top stating its source using salved materials. The bookcase has 3 shelves and rotates on a spindle. ~ Dimensions ~ The piece has a height 29 inches(73.5cm) And measures 20.5 inches by 20.5 inches(52cm) ~ Condition ~ There is a crack to the top of the piece. Some of the boards are slightly worn by age, it revolves with a bit of play but the piece appears to be in otherwise good condition. ~ HMS Foudroyant ~ HMS Foudroyant was an 80-gun third rate of the Royal Navy. One of only two British-built ... more80-gun ships of the period(the other was HMS Caesar(1793) Foudroyant was built at Plymouth Dockyard and launched on 31 March 1798.Note 1] Foudroyant served Nelson as his flagship from 6 June 1799 until the end of June 1801. Foudroyant had a long and successful career. And although she was not involved in any major fleet action, she did provide invaluable service to numerous admirals throughout her 17 years on active service. In her last years she was used as a boy's training vessel. In June 1897 she was towed to Blackpool. On 16 June 1897 during a violent storm. She parted a cable and dragging the remaining anchor, went ashore on Blackpool Sands, damaging Blackpool North Pier in the process. The Blackpool lifeboat was able to rescue all 27 of her crew. After vain attempts to refloat her. Her guns were removed and she was sold for ₤200. She finally broke up in the December gales.
