This grand library bookcase has marvelous spiral columns, plus high relief panels with"music" and"architecture" motifs. Doors have old wavy glass on this furniture from the alpine area of southern Germany and eastern France. Often called"Black Forest" design. The original finish is remarkably well preserved with glowing patina. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm deep luster. This stunning example in keeping with traditional design has an arched cornice over a single mirrored door enclosing adjustable shelves along with drawers and pigeon holes as well as an oak sliding candle tray. The bureau base has a fall down front enclosing further drawers supported by pull out lopers with a bank of graduating drawers being raised on bracket feet. Solid Mahogany Empire Library Bookcase
This antique Empire library cabinet/ bookcase would make a beautiful addition to your home or office! It has been dated as early as 1880 to as late as 1910. It's roomy interior has eight shelves that can be used to hold your favorite books or collectibles. There are 6 adjustable shelves and the bottom shelves. It is made of solid ribbon mahogany. The cabinet has it's original wooden back(with some restoration) and original wavy glass in the doors. The cabinet has a key. But it is recommended that it isn't used to lock the cabinet doors regularly as they are a bit tight to lock. This stunning piece has been restored and refinished with a hand rubbed wax finish leaving the wonderful patina and gorgeous original wood tones. I can provide additional pictures if needed. The library bookcase/ cabinet measures 56" wide x 55.5" ... morehigh x 17.5" deep. As with any antique. It does have marks of age, but there are just a few and nothing major.
