The shelf is made of only(6) solid curly maple boards(plus the backing) The top has a crown type hand cut-out decoration and the back is made of pine wood. The wood is heavily grained with nice depth and absolutely stunning. WHEN MADE: Mid 1800s is my best guess. Possibly a little earlier. SIZE: Approximately 46" tall x 26 1/4" across and 17 1/2" deep. Each board is around 7/8" thick. Particularly fine carving with a branch encircling the flower and leaf cluster giving each end lovely pierced decoration. Measures some 6.75" height x 15.75" length x depth of 6" max. Condition is excellent and age commensurate with a small break in a section of the encircling branch to one end and with some nibbling to edges of some leaves. Nothing of any significance.
