Condition: Used Location: Bay Village, United States Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top ... moreis made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish and some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. 1800s Pine Round Top Wood Trunk Forged Iron Handles Square Nails Primitive. We are selling an antique pine trunk/ chest in its original condition.This trunk dates to about 1870s and still in good condition.There are five large dovetail joints on all corners. The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. Two old brass chains hold the top open. There is some very old wall paper on the inside of the trunk. Shipping will be by fedex. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description. The hide has come loose along the edges and has a couple tears but is all there. You could tack it down using brass tacks and even put designs in it to secure the hide and improve on the appearance. This is an old trunk. Probably from the 1830's to 1860's so 150 years old at the least. I took a close up pic of a nail that's sticking out near the bottom of the trunk, which you will see has a square or rectangular head and appears to NOT be machine-made. ANTIQUE EARLY 1800's LEATHER COVERED BRASS STUDDED WOOD BOX VINTAGE 19TH C. TRUNK A rare original. Early 1800's, small trunk or document box that is covered in leather and has brass studs. It has a lock in the front and a brass handle on the top. The inside of this trunk is what I love about it! There is the original paper lining with a printed man, in a top hat, riding a horse(of the period, see photo) The lid is held in place by the leather construction and there were never any hinges. This wonderful old trunk measures approximately 13" across x 6 1/2" wide x 5" tall(not including the brass handle) I have taken close up photos to show the condition. There is wear to the leather with one side missing most of it(see photo) The rest is crackled and may have a bit missing, here and there. It is missing some of the brass ... morestuds and the paper on the inside does show wear and tear. This old trunk is over 200 years old but is still mostly together! 1800s Scandinavian Painted Immigrant Dowry Trunk Blanket Chest - Primitive
This"dome top" immigrant trunk from Scandinavia with folk art painting. The ironwork suggests this was a dowry chest. The family name is in script. Hand hewn of pine I believe. European furniture, useful as a blanket chest. Wrought iron hardware but missing top lock. The interior is clean and has 1 inside top tray. Length is 25 inches and 17 inches tall with a depth of 14.5 inches. This is NOT as large as many trunks but quit a wonderful size. The perfect piece to place adjacent to a chair or as a strong accent piece BUT does not dominate the space. Just a charming size. I often used the truck open to display linens. No oder. There is wear to the traditional hand painting. Akin to the famous rosemaling. The fine lines were artistically drawn and still show nicely. There are mars and dings for antique character, and this picturesque ... morepiece has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to preserve its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Antique Primitive Country Small Size Trunk w/Paper Interior 1875 Pat.Date
Here for your consideration is an antique primitive storage trunk. This is a nice small size measuring approximately 28" x 15" x 14" It has a metal construction with oak wooden slats and metal strapping along with iron wheels. The lock has a mark of Pat. May 11. 1875. I do not have a key for the lock. The interior still retains its paper lining with a nice portrait of a Victorian woman. It is in relatively good condition with wear reflective of age and use. The leather straps on the sides look to be replacements but are suitable and sturdy. The back hinges are intact but once opened the lid cannot support itself as the interior hinges are missing. There are a few holes on either side in the front being mentioned for accuracy on condition. There is no apparent reason why they are there. The first oak slat on the top has a very ... moretight crack on either side but they in no way affect the piece. All other wear is reflective of age and use. ANTIQUE PERSONAL TOOL BOX TRUNK WOOD CHEST PRIMITIVE CHILDS AAFA
I can't express how cute this box is over the internet! It has so much detail and style. Just like those large carpenters chests that are 3' long! Measuring approximately 15" Long, 8.5" Tall& 9.5" Deep, it is a mere shadow to it's working relatives! I am unsure whether a loving parent acquired this for their child. A carpenter used it as his traveling caddy or if it truly was a salesman sample trunk. I have never seen one of this age and quality before. It is painted a beautiful vintage yellow and greenish color. The latch is a simple piece of leather which simply hooks onto a metal latch. Inside. You can see a strap of leather, this hooks to a nail and works as the holding mechanism for the lid, although it does not always stay in place, occasionally I have to hook it back on there. There is a nice little tray ... moreto hold the small tools or notions and a deep box for the other tools. The inside lid has a nice piece of leather to hold the little tools and gadgets. There were some leftover sewing notions in this box when I received it but I think it would be a fabulous display for old childrens tools or a fantastic jewelry box or display on your dresser. You definitely do not find this craftsmanship anymore! The hinges are fastened with nails. Which is the only flaw in the piece. They look to be original but there is just a little play on one of the hinges. It is by no means falling off, most likely caused by the heavy lid and not having the leather strap attached. I have not attempted to hammer these back in place, and again, the lid works fine just want to mention a tiny amount of play. Other than all of that. Antique American Pine wood blanket chest trunk, primitive country 1800-1899
This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. The measurements are length 42"x width 18.5" x 20" height. A great size for a coffee table or end table.

Antique 1897 Painted Scandinavian Dutch Blanket Chest Trunk Folk Art Primitive
This hand painted old chest is 53" long. 21" wide, 21 1/2" tall and I'm not sure what type of wood it is. It is dated 1897 and there are some names and dates written on the inside of the lid. There is wear- the paint is mostly worn off of the top. The lock has been removed and the keyhole plugged, the screws in the hinges have been replaced, there is some wormwood and the candle box has been rebuilt. The bottom"feet" have some rot and someone cut the worst off so it would sit level. Even with the wear to the wood it is still very sturdy and strong. ca. 1820-1840 New Hampshire Dome Top Trunk - Primitive - Colonial
Here's a piece of early New Hampshire Americana. A great dome top trunk with original green/gray paint, early wire hinges and lock. Corners are roughly dovetailed. Trunk is made of pine. The trunk is 24" wide. 12" deep and 10" tall at the highest point of the"dome" Brass was always something of a luxury. A rolled brass foundary was started in Connecticut about this time. But back in the woods, folks used what they had at hand, in this case the often used heavy wire"hinge" The dovetailing is more"farmer grade" than"cabinet grade" as you can see in at least one of the photos. The plate lock on the front appears to be original. But is a false lock. Overall the trunk is in good condition. But there are certainly a couple of issues. There is a crack in the dome, and there is some staining ... moreof some kind on one end. both visible in our photos) And lastly a note. The back of the trunk has apparently never been painted. Call it Old Yankee Economy because obviously the back would always be against the wall and no one would see it. A nice piece of Americana.

Antique Primitive 1800's Leather Stagecoach Carriage Steamship Train Trunk
Antique primitive 1800's black leather steamship trunk made by Hammond Short at his Saddle and Harness Maker Shop in Homer Village. New York. This traveling chest is adorned with patterned brass tacks. The interior maintains some of the original fabric on the top and sides. The train luggage trunk features a compartment in the lid accessible by removing a wooden peg. The leather on this carriage trunk has cracking but remains intact. The hinge. Lock, and lift flap are all in good working condition. Please see pictures. The stagecoach trunk measures 22 1/2" long x 15 1/2" wide x 14" high. Background: The first saddle and harness business in Homer(Village) NY was probably carried on by Andrew Burr, who began the enterprise prior to 1816, while he was yet engaged in the tannery business. For many years thereafter, he followed ... morethis trade very successfully. Eight or ten years later Mr. Burr formed a partnership with Hammond Short; they continued together for several years. Short continued the business several years after the dissolution of the firm, then moved his business into the newly erected Mechanics' Hall in 1833. This building was for many years the most pretentious in the village. Short died in 1864.

For your consideration. We are offering an, early, antique primitive, chest or document box ~with till ~that is c. 1800's. It is smaller and more petite than a full size blanket chest. As it measures: 26 3/4 inches in length X 14 inches width X 17 1/2 inches height. One person can lift easily. I am not sure what the precise original function of this piece was- but it has a lock. So it must have housed something of importance such as documents? The lock is with the piece, and looks to be original and fits, but is not installed, and is not functional. We surmise that years ago, someone lost the key and popped it open, but luckily it still has the lock itself(see photo) The top piece of the till is all there. Sometimes a mixture of newspapers sometimes had added decoration in the form of many dots or squares printed paper atop the newsprint. Hides covered the outside, which could be deerskin, cowhide or horsehide. We like to think this trunk came over in a covered wagon but we have no way to substantiate it. Lots of patina& kind of an unusual interior. We were so excited when it showed up in the attic of a property we inherited.
