The cushions are on real springs-not ... morethe newer knock offs on plywood and thick foam. They could be designer pieces as they came from the same estate as the Jens Risnom and Girsberger chairs that I have just listed. These are sound and solid with no holes or tears to the original fabric. Fabric is quite thick and durable and rather a golden yellow color. Seat height is 16 1/2" in the front-14 1/2" in the back-so they set an angle and you just sort of lean back into them. Cushioning is still in good shape and they set comfortable. Seat width is 24 1/2" with a depth of 22" Back height is 33" They are pretty clean but you might want to hit them with some upholstery cleaner. I don't see any stains. I need to remove the legs from the seat frame to hold the shipping cost down. To do so I need to remove the staples from the dust liner on the underside to get to the nuts and bolts that hold the legs on. They just bolt right back on with wing nuts for the front and nuts for the rear legs. Upholstery will stay tight as that is on with small nails. Some wear to the mahogany stain finish but not a lot. I think the wood is probably poplar stained mahagony. If you would like to pick up and save the shipping my zipcode is 17363. The trunk has two leather handles on either side, three protective leather flaps on the lid, and hand formed zinc protected corners on all 4 corners. ... moreYou can still see some leather tool work on the strap closure and in the top corners. The trunk closes with a hand forged latch and a l eather strap and hand forged buckle. Some of the strap has worn off. But there is still a functional hol e for the buckle. The interior of the trunk is covered in cotton print and there is so utache br aid i nside the top for keeping letters and documents safe. There are two areas where I believe the hardware is not original: the back hinges and the two brass chains which hold the trunk open. I believe these were added during this century. Otherwise. E verything looks to be original. The base wood appears to be pine. But it's hard to tell. All of the nails, latches. And buck le are handm ade. This is an outstanding antique from 1835- dated newspaper as lining. This leather covered wood trunk or chest measures 25" by 12" by 10" high. As mentioned it is lined in very old newspaper- all dated around 1835. The overall condition is good for its age: the two iron handles are still in tact. Most of the brass studs are present, the front latch is non functional, the hinges with square nails are fine. It is a very special piece of 19th century history. Small Leather-covered Trunk with Brass Studs with Attached Oak Stand
Very charming. Very old antique leather-covered trunk with superb brass stud decoration. The box is secured to its own original oak stand. Its lock is broken but that doesn't detract from its charm. The leather is in good condition, free of any tears or rips, though there is some rippling on the sides. The trunk measures 18 1/2" wide by 12" deep by 15 1/2" tall from floor to top; its inside measurements are 17" wide by 11" deep by 8" tall on the bottom half. I did my best to take accurate pictures of the style and quality. And to describe the piece as completely as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. ANTIQUE EARLY 1800's LEATHER COVERED BRASS STUDDED WOOD BOX VINTAGE 19TH C. TRUNK A rare original. Early 1800's, small trunk or document box that is covered in leather and has brass studs. It has a lock in the front and a brass handle on the top. The inside of this trunk is what I love about it! There is the original paper lining with a printed man, in a top hat, riding a horse(of the period, see photo) The lid is held in place by the leather construction and there were never any hinges. This wonderful old trunk measures approximately 13" across x 6 1/2" wide x 5" tall(not including the brass handle) I have taken close up photos to show the condition. There is wear to the leather with one side missing most of it(see photo) The rest is crackled and may have a bit missing, here and there. It is missing some of the brass ... morestuds and the paper on the inside does show wear and tear. This old trunk is over 200 years old but is still mostly together!
