Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. The wonderful old finish is very well preserved. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. Antique English Country Chest, Pine, late 18th early 19th
I had to have an English country chest for this spot. I have it in a corner with a TV on the top. It came to me with the cracks you see and hasn't gotten any worse in my house. The drawers work. But not that smooth to pull in and out. It is really pretty and charming. I paid $2000 for it in Kensington at the antique store that imports English chests. It is late 18th early 19th century according to them. The color is very nice, light. If you are interested, bid soon as I will be moving and will sell everything to an estate person or to an auction house.

Country Pine Folk Painted 1840's Antique Immigrant Trunk or Chest. Hand crafted in northern Europe in the 1840's. This picturesque immigrant trunk or chest is wormy pine with hand painted floral motifs resembling traditional Scandinavian rosemaling. Hand planed with hand cut corner dovetails. This furniture has a beautiful old finish. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. The interior is very clean. There is a compartment with a lift lid for valuables. Hand wrought iron mounts and handles are original, there are losses to the banding as shown. The lock is missing on this large historic chest or coffer, we have added a safety chain to support the lid. Size is 56" long. 24" deep and 29 1/2" tall. This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. A 19th century primitive pine blanket box with bootjack ends. It measures approximately 23-1/4" tall. 48" wide, and about 20-3/8" deep. We believe it is American and we do not know the maker. It almost appears to have been constructed of old flooring. There is overall normal surface wear commensurate with age and use, including plenty of dings and scratches found commonly on antique furniture. The entire surface has been refinished and the hinges have been replaced. We do not have the key. Overall. The structural integrity is good with no major problems.
