The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. Some wood missing off back and one of the Velvet lined covers has come detached from metal bracket. Couple of pieces of Mother of pearl inlay is missing but could be replaced. It does have key and does lock. Also the ink jar, wax sticks and instrument to hold them Also one piece of vintage paper seal. There are three Wood pieces. One to cover compartment and one longer piece that slides into an compartment. I do not know what the longer piece is used for but obviously it belongs with it. This marble top chest is crafted in beautiful Rosewood with its original beveled edge marble top that is in wonderful antique condition but does have some dis-coloration as common in old marble. This chest has three large storage drawers each with early hand cut dove-tailed ends. Picture frame molding and detailed carved pulls. Victorian era vanity case probably used when travelling. It is constructed of rare rosewood with silk material lining and glass jars and bottles with silver plated tops. One glass bottle has a small chip out of the neck not affecting it's operation. The strip that once held tools such as nail files is a bit loose could be repaired but I have tried to leave it as original as possible. There is a secret jewelry drawer under that can be released once you open the box top and pull up a button. It is spring loaded and pops out. There is a more recent black velvet lining to the base of this drawer. There are stop hinges that support the lid when open. There is a lock but no key- one of the hooks for the lock is broken on the lid. There is a mother of pearl(MOP) escutcheon for the lock and a blank cartouche also in MOP to the lid.
