This little trunk measures 15inches long by 8 inches deep and 8 inches high. ... moreThere was no tray with this trunk when found but one was built for it out of oak and poplar. The trunk itself is made from pine and is metal bound. All the metal has been hand burnished but enough of the patina has been left to preserve the antique character of the piece. The lock is an Eagle lock and the latches function but are no longer spring loaded. The trunk has been refinished in a golden oak stain with multiple coats of sealer both inside and out. The original covering has been left on the underside to give a sense of the original look. The trunk is in overall good shape but because it is over 100 yrs old there are dings. Dents splits and cracks but these are minor and add to the overall antique feel. It is a very well made solid little trunk that will last a lifetime if cared for. These well made doll trunks are becoming quite rare and usually don't last long when listed. Shipping is FREE.

Up for consideration is a rare. Restored, antique wall trunk. It has a working lock& key. It has dated hinges that read"Dec 22 1891" It has been cleaned well inside and out. A new covering was put inside to resemble the old, so no musty smell. All original hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. New leather handles were put on. Vintage / Antique 1800's STEAMER CHEST TRUNK - Large - Needs restoration
This antique steamer trunk has no identifying information; however. We believe it is from the 1800's. The trunk measures approximately 38" long x 26" high x 22.5" wide when closed. It is a fabric-covered chest with wooden ribbing and what would appear to be additional leather stripping. It also has metal corners and hardware. Our trunk is in need of repair and restoration. The lock is missing and the hinges in the back of the trunk require attention. The top must be held open so it does not fall back. The inside of the trunk shows signs of age and wear. EARLY 1800'S ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE BLANKET CHEST TRUNK DRAWERS GRAB LOCK
Here is a fabulous antique American early 19th century Chippendale style footed pine blanket chest or trunk with drawers below. This delightful old trunk is 48 inches long by 21 1/2 inches front to back and 27 1/2 inches tall. The top chest is internally 44 1/2 inches long by 18 1/4 inches front to back by 15 inches deep. With a small lidded compartment 18 1/4 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep as shown. The two lower drawers are hand dovetailed as shown in close ups and measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Again, as stated under condition, I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this great antique blanket chest. As far as provenance, my consignor has owned the trunk for a number of years and remembers ... moreonly that it was acquired through an estate sale. Specifically, this is what he told me was his recollection: The story I was told is that a woman named Bessie Hicks bought the trunk while visiting Muncie Valley PA in the 1950's after WWII. She brought it back to Atlanta GA where she lived. When her estate was broken up it made it's way to Miami and then to Charleston. He added. It appears to have some minor repairs around the feet. Also some sign of blue paint under the bottom. The lock is very fascinating and secured with rose head nails. Lock and key work nicely. That's about all I remember about it. Anyway. It's appearance is consistent with early 1800's Pennsylvania work in the Chippendale style so I chose to report this information. Wonderful antique oak trunk or chest. Six-sided construction with molding around the bottom. Overhanging top has a raised panel inside a frame made using mortise and tenon joints. A small smooth notch has been carved into the front to allow the user to lower the lid without crushing their fingers. Sturdy wrap-around hinges hold the lid in place and interior corner-braces help keep the trunk solid. A more recent looking chain is also attached between the trunk body and lid. This piece has a ton of character and has definitely been put to use during its time. Probably dates from the mid to late 1800's Although it has some obvious wear. I have set the TV on it, placed it in the foyer, bedroom, etc. There are great details, inset drawers, English style bun feet, gorgeous solid brass hardware and a very slight white wash to the finish. I took a picture of the dovetailed drawers. There is a mar on the inside of a drawer that does not affect the use. Drawers open and close well. Sorry about the shadows on the photos! The piece has the numbers#16911-350 on the back and says Oak. But I believe that is the stain color. I believe it was built in the 1980's as a document reproduction for this collection. Fabulous Antique Grain Painted Cottage Chest With Flowers ca 1800's- Local P-up
Exquisite grain painted cottage chest with the best colors you will ever find! The colors work well with both dark oak and pine since they are very neutral in tone. Grain painting became popular in the mid 1800's when immigrants moved from the northern areas if the US to the west. The west didn't provide the fine wood sources if the north(maple. Oak, cherry etc) So they made the chests and furniture of pine- and often feather painted the surface to appear like the rich nice woods available in the north! The detailing on the drawers is wonderful. I posted a photo of the drawer edge because the chest drawers are put together with dowels. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. Antique Wooden Painted Nautical Sailors Fishing Chest Trunk Box 1800's Steamer
This is an AMAZING antique fishing chest. I think it's late 1800's maybe really early 1900's. when I purchased it there was a bunch of old salt water fishing hooks and a sting ray barb& other cool stuff in it! One of the almost completely deteriorated paper boxes of hooks read 1910 on it, so I know it's at least that old. There are awesome adjustable wooden cubby compartments on the inside& spots to put a rod on the inside upper lid. In the pictures I left some of the fishing stuff in there. But its cleaned out now. There are some amazing graphics on this chest. On the top of the chest is a nautical compass reading north east south and west, on the front under the latch(which is fully functional) are the initials F.D.JR. On the right side of the chest are three flags I'm not sure if these three flags identify the ... morearea in which it was made? maybe someone with nautical knowledge will know for sure. And on the left is an anchor with rope twisting around it. Im pretty sure these are all hand painted. Or super old decals. But I'm pretty sure there hand painted. The chest appears to have a sealant on the outside. Which I'm sure they would have done to help protect it from salt water. There are no major cracks in this chest. I have put no chemicals on it to clean it. Just a damp rag. Now a couple down sides to this beauty: the back hinges have rusted and broken.see pics) and on the sides it looks like there were a couple ropes screwed in to keep it on board? That are gone. Antique 1800's Large Camelback/Dome Chest
This is the largest wooden chest I have ever come across. This monster is over 3 ft. wide and about 21ins. deep and over 2 ft. tall at its highest peak. This one has more fancy metal working than your run of the mill chest and is a beauty without having to refinish. I would rather have this item picked up at my house because of the size. You are viewing an authentic Black and Gold 1800's Antique Victorian Embossed Camelback Chest with wheels in great for age condition. This piece is commonly referred to as a Steamer Trunk. Humpback Trunk, or Dome Top Trunk. In the past these trunks were used as luggage for prolonged trips by train. Steam-ship or stage-coach. Today these trunks are often considered family heirloom pieces. And make for stylish home decor storage pieces. I am not experienced enough to date this piece. However, I found two different date codes on the piece-Pat Jul 972/Pat March 1880. I believe it to be July 9 1872 and March 1880. The inside lining is mounted with white thumb tacks and in the front right corner the lining is actually hanging down a bit. There are dings and dents here and there. One of the handles needs repair. Late 1800 early 1900 Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Highboy Chest. The taller ones like this were generally used as the Gentlemen's Chest. This chest is so very beautiful. Excellent condition with only a small flaw to the bottom side. As you will notice there are two different knobs shown. It had cheap knobs and I put as close to original as I could get back one it.

Antique Pine Blanket Chest with Butternut Trim, circa 1800
Circa 1800 Wide Pine Plank Blanket Chest. Missing glove box, but enhanced with a Butternut moulding trim on the lid and skirting. The old milk blue paint makes this a very attractive large dovetailed original chest. The hinges,although correct from that period, are not the original set. The measurements are 18" tall, 20" in width and 46" in length. We are in Central NY, so unless you are willing to pay for crating, the only way to get this chest will be a mutual meeting. We are willing to travel to Albany or Binghamton or Utica areas for pick-up/delivery. If you are planning a visit to the Central NY during the summer months, we would hold the chest until then.

It was also a trunk you could safely have loaded on an old steam locomotive train. Looks original. I do not see where someone re-furbished it. Has the original#35 key. Big brass lock works just as it should. Inside there is a leather pouch for papers& documents. Trunk shows wear from use; otherwise very good trunk that could still make another trip. Leather hand-holds on the ends are gone. A few shipping stickers that are hard to read. There is part of a sticker that came off in a plastic bag. Inside. The trunk has a faint smell of moth ball. Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in the family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. Hinge to keep lid from closing unexpectedly(I have not confirmed if hinge locks fully extended, but the lid holds itself up just fine with ... morethe hinge nearly extended to full position) Noteable known defects- see pictures. Leather side handles are missing. Water stains at the bottom. But no water damage inside Some missing paper at edges. Some edges and a section on top. Crack on top of lid and another one on one side. Depression in front side of tray. About the size of a finger. Edge wear. Including an exposed nail. No key- have not tried to latch the lock. Note: A long time ago a piece of paper covering. The size of a nickel came off and was stored inside the chest. I don't know where it came off from. It's included in case you wish to mend it somewhere. Thank You for checking out my items. Here we have an Antique Circa 1800's Slovakian Chest. This was purchased by an Antique dealer from a Slovakian Village years ago. The out side of the trunk is was painted years ago a couple times. The paint is worn now. There are dings/scratches and scuffs becacuse of the of the Age and it was being used in the village. There is a front"lock" but there is NO locking mechanism or key. I"believe" not certain the inside is Pine. There is a secret compartment that pulls up to reveal a drawer. There is a spot for a second drawer which is not there. The higes and hardware appear to be hand forged. There are feet added for decoration. Hand forged nails also. A lovely 1800's small chest of drawers standing 17 inches tall. It is handmade and unsigned. It has all the original porcelain drawer pulls which are usually broken or missing some. It has age appropriate wear on the feet as shown in the photos. There are modern repairs on the hidden portions of the drawers. The nails holding the top are iron and square. There are some old doodles on the bottoms of two of the drawers. This terrific piece was made for sewing supplies perhaps, or spices, or other important items. Small. Wood, domed doll trunk. It has a metal closure at front that remains but does not lock. The trunk is in well used condition. There are markings on the lock"PA HC" and some indiscernible numbers. Pennsylvania Hardware Company(Late 1700's) The age is approximate. Very useable as a storage trunk for small items or dolls, but also fabulous for a display piece or photo prop. Measures 8.75"D x 21"W x 8.25"H.Circa 1908. Antique Lebanon County, Pa., Painted Blanket Chest Spectacular Circa 1800
For sale we have a Pennsylvania Painted/Decorated Blanket Chest of dovetailed construction. With three drawers and flat bracket feet. The arched tombstone panels on both the top surface and the front panel are dappled in a dark blue/green hue with a sunburst design in each arch. The tombstone panels are surrounded by an eye catching sawtooth design. The drawer fronts are painted in the same blue/green color and have brass pulls. The overall background color of the chest is an earthy orange. The inside of the chest reveals the original till, hinges and jaw lock. Based on comparisons in Fabian's"The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest" this piece appears to date from 1800 from Dauphin County which is now Lebanon County. We did not"clean up" the surface of this chest leaving it in"as found" condition. Antique Shipwright or Carpenters Tool Chest Original Green Paint. c.1800's
A very nice old carpenters or shipwrights tool chest that is elaborately decorated with copper trim on the corners. This is made from pine. There are paper items tacked to the inside top an one is a black and white photo of a ship which is why I speculate that it may have been a ship makers chest. Notice the little metal heart next to the photo. One of the paper items came off but I will include it for you to re-attach. It has just been re-attached using one of the tacks. The chest retains its original green paint. The looks like there was a blue grey coat of paint on top but was removed and the original coat of green paint left in tact. There is wear to the finish and traces of the blue grey paint but still a stunning look of the original dark green paint. This is clearly made by the craftsman and it looks like he used what materials were ... moreavailable. The antique iron handles have the same style but are slightly different sizes. The copper trim looks like hand cut flashing then is attached to the chest with small brass screws. There are two screws on each side that have been replaced but it is not very noticeable. The inside top has the saw handles with copper bow ties latches to keep the saws in place. The bottom has two right angle metal straps on each side to hold a level. The hasp on the front looks like it may have been added later. The top of the chest has the impressed name of the maker which looks like"G. R. Horton" I am unsure of the first initial but the other initial and the last name are easy to read. The chest measures 34 inches long and is 11 inches deep and another 11 inches high. The ship shows signs of age with nicks and dings. Also the panel on top has a crack from shrinkage over the years. It is still tight to the wood and since the panel is screwed to the top board of the chest. The crack does not go through to the bottom. This will be packed and shipped via UPS.

Antique 1800's Officer's Campaign Chest Trunk Wood Original Key
This is a beautiful Antique Officers Campaign Trunk Chest. Also described as a Barracks Trunk, these were used to transport officers belongings and personal items. This particular trunk has the officers name inscribed. D. Cutler. It's comes with original key. The original transportation label Inspected are still present. It traveled from Glasgow to Us 1886. Can't quite make out date on label. The finish is original check the detail of the grain or finish, dovetail. Amazing to have found such a great piece of history. Would make a beautiful coffee table, blanket chest. Measures 37" x 21 x 20 The chest can be seen and picked up locally at my shop in Imlay City Michigan. We are between Flint and Port Huron off 169. Antique Victorian 1800's Chest Dome Top Steamer Trunk Wood/Tin
This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. With steel nail heads showing(see photo) The tray is in nice condition although the lids need to be reattached. See pictures. There are rollers under this beauty, that work well, and look great. Antique Domed Small Trunk All Original 1800's 18x11x11 Steamer Chest - COOL!
This is an 1800's small sized domed trunk. All of the compartments are present and still look great. Exterior shows typical wear. There is a pencil written price of $1.50 on the bottom. The pics make this look like a typical big cumbersome trunk but it's actually much smaller with exterior measurements of 18x11x11 inches. Definitely more practical and would serve any room of the house well. I've seen thousands of big trunks but never one this size.

Painted Dome Top Trunk 1800's or Earlier Wooden Chest Unique Must See
This very old painted dome lid trunk or chest is amazing. Unknown age and origin. But it obviously predates the 1900’s, possibly even the 1800’s. Look closely at the paintings– ornate scrolls, flowers, and a bird on the arched lid; flowers on the right end, and a lovely woman in a garden and a flower filled vase on the front panels. It appears as if this were cut in half at one time long ago. My guess is that it might have been a dowry chest from“the old country” that either was damaged or needed to be reduced in size. Perhaps to transport. Inside the lid is very early wallpaper. I’ve left old newspapers inside as I purchased it– 1930’s papers from Philadelphia. This measures 30” long X 21” wide or deep X 17 ½” to the top of the base and 23” to the top of the arched lid. The left end is painted blue– no decorations– probably missing ... morepart of the original chest. I’ve used this for many years as a decorative piece– the left end against a wall.
