It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. The originally outside canvas covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The lock does not have a key. FREE SHIP ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(163-66) With Measurements: 35"w x 21"d x 28"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. ... moreover the top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel. Antique/Vintage Wooden Dome-top Shipping Trunk-White Star Line Stickers
This vintage/antique dome-topped wooden trunk with steel-covered corners and a steel bottom has partial White Star Line stickers on both sides as well as several“ New York” stickers. The trunk has all of its original steel hardware. Including both side handles and casters on the bottom, except for one of the eight metal end pieces on the wooden strips on the lid. The side handles and casters are still functional. The original lid hinges are still present(a few screws are missing) but new hinges have been installed and they are the ones actually holding the lid on. The trunk measures 26 1/2” long. Stands 18 1/2” high and is 15 1/2” deep. It is in good condition. The wooden sides are solid. The inside paper lining has deteriorated quite a bit. Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1800s DOME STEAMER TRUNK CHEST WOOD 4 ORIGINAL COMPARTMENTS
We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. Beautifully restored antique dome-top steamer trunk. Metal sides and top are embossed with an intricate floral design and braced with oak slats. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. This piece is both decorative and practical for storage. It most likely dates from the late 1800's This piece has been restored and is in very good condition. There is. For your consideration is a ca 1880 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The working lock comes with a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has a new tray. Antique Hump Back Trunk Awesome find still in old original finish. Measures approximately 26 inches tall x 24 inches deep x 35 inches long. The top ribs are wood and there is like a hammered brass on the tru nk. The old straps on the sides have been replaced with rope and the strap on the front is missi ng. I picked this up from my mother's after she lined it and I was very tempted to keep it- the lining is gorgeous and so wonderful that it still retains original makers label. Some years ago. Someone else stripped the trunk of the old leather but kept the nice brass tack decorations. Trunk has original thick leather handles and is all wood. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. NY) Barrel Top or Barrel Stave trunks(because of the ribs that mimic a barrel) or Dome Top, Camelback, or Humpback for the curved lid. The two closest examples I've found both sold for $795. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

This Original Steamer Trunk is AMAZING! Does not have a tray. But everything else is completely original and in Fantastic shape. Missing the left side leather handle, but pieces of leather still there. The Brass plating is still in incredible condition and the design is Awesome. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Beautiful Antique Dome Half Trunk This is one of the nicest. Most stylish half trunks I have come across in my 25+ years of refinishing and collecting. Technically, this is a hat or bonnet trunk, but many refer to them as half trunks as well. My wife actually purchased this some years back and it has been in my collection, but now it's time to make room for a"larger model" This trunk is actually a little smaller than a true"half" trunk, but it has all the hardware and adornments of the larger fancy dome tops. Notice the wide scalloped metal banding surrounding the top and sides. This is the only trunk I've ever seen with this feature. This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique Steamer Trunk, 7 dome oak wood slats- replacement parts
These are 7 dome top trunk slats removed from an old trunk. This is one of those trunks I saved for my garden. These are probably before 1890 because there are pairs of nail holes. In the mid 1890s there was a change to only 1 nail where the 2 had been before to save money. These slats have both double nail holes and single nail holes but they came from the same trunk top. These need to be cleaned and refinished. See photos for condition. I think I labeled the picture correctly. But I had taken the picture in October and was trying to match nail holes with actual pieces. too lazy to take new pictures) Sizes are approximate: 4- slats 18” 2- slats 17 ½” 1 slat 17” These were the best of the lot. Untitled Document Purchased at a recent estate sale in NC full of fine antiques. This beautiful ornate trunk was a nice rare find. It has many exquisite and elaborate details. Please see images. It measures 23" tall. 30" wide and 17.5" deep. A collector's item! Looks great for its age though it does have some wear. The only parts I notice missing on the exterior are one of the leather handles and it did not come with a key. There is a name written on the right side. See photos to judge condition. It has its caster wheels. Overall it is very nice and I believe everything is original. The inside seems to be original and in very good shape for the age. Very nice wood dome top trunk in untouched vintage condition. Has part of the original label that refers to the keenan company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk may need some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. I think it looks great the way it is with the exception of maybe new handles. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock and key and full Interior My husband and I have refinished over 135 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is absolutely beautiful very nice decorative refinished dome top hump back steamer trunk from the late 1800's. The particular d imensions for this are 32" length. 19" width and 23" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on ... morethe entire trunk. On the outside and on the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we installed a new lock with 2 working keys. The interior of this wonderful trunk under the dome has a hidden compartment section. Notice picture. The lid also has the original picture which is in good condition. You can drop down the door to access this area in the hidden compartment which is also shown in a picture. You will find the original stay to keep the lid open. Finally on the bottom of the trunk we painted all the black on that too. Also on the bottom are the four original casters. This trunk has a very nice interior. Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish Description: Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Offered is a great antique wood dome top trunk. It has the original finish and great old hardware lock. Purchased at an antique auction it dates to the mid to late 1800's. The inside of the trunk is lined with layers of antique newspapers dating to 1865. Great old advertising. The newspapers are not in the best of condition and are hanging in some areas and falling apart. I have left them as they were found because it does help verify the age of the trunk. Most people will want to remove the paper and clean the trunk. You may be able to save some of the newspaper and advertising. The trunk measures about 11 inches high. It is 11 inches deep(front ... moreto back) and 21 inches side to side. It is in good antique condition. There are imperfections as would be expected. Marks in the wood here and there and there is a slight separation of the boards on one end as shown in the photos. Please refer to photo#5. The lid of the trunk has a separation in the boards; please refer to photos 7& 8. An unusual lock which I am not familiar with. It has a small lever which slides over the opening for the key and this does stick a little; it should loosen up nicely with a little care. I do not think all of the lock is there; it appears there should be another piece on the lid. As I said I am unfamiliar so I am not sure; just using my best guess in regards to the lock. Please refer to photo# 6. There is no key. Wonderful old trunk. It looks great displayed and would be a nice addition to any collection. Antique Dome Top Hump Back Pressed Tin & Wood Slats Steamer Trunk Herringbone
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique 1870's dome top/ hump back steamer trunk covered with pressed tin in a herringbone/ basketweave pattern. The wide tin mixed in on the edges has a pattern of tiny diamonds with dots in the center. The lid has curved hardwood slats and lots of heavy tacks holding all of the metal in place, the tacks are most likely brass plated. The previous owner painted it a shade of dark rust/ reddish brown so you will probably want to refinish it- it looks as if it could be sanded down to the bare metal and wood because the paint isn't very thick.We believe the metal handles seen in the photos are not original to the trunk, they were probably replaced with the black metal handles whenever it was painted. The handles should be leather and if you'd like to replace them(as well as the metal brackets that ... morehold them) you can find them reasonably priced at any trunk restoration site on-line(they even sell them here on Ebay) The trunk measures approximately 31" long X 20" wide X 24" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats and all of the metal on the trunk look to be in good condition. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. The key is missing and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two small metal lever-action clasps that keep it closed tightly in front. These are a tight fit and probably need lubrication but you can still get them to open and close. These clasps are stamped what appears to us to be' PAT MAY 1875' The inside of the trunk is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining- the lid has just a hint of the original chromolithograph and the border. Antique 1800's Salesman's Sample Dome Top Trunk
This is a fabulous Antique 1800's Salesman's Sample Wooden Trunk with an alligator embossed gold painted front and brown painted dome top. The sides and back are floral embossed and the sides are green while the back is white. It has black painted metal strips. Hinges, and metal lock( Lock does not lock) There are wooden strips on the top, front, and sides. The bottom is plain wood. The interior is paper lined. It measures 16" wide and 9" tall in the front and back while the sides due to the dome, are 10.5" tall in the center and 9" wide. The handles on the sides have been broken off. It is in really great condition for being over 100 years old( hope I look so good! It has age and desirable patina! Shipping includes insurance.

A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key and Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray Here is a lovely refinished dome top or arch top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 24 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 14 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 14 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. The trunk appears t be made up of poplar base wood which are rough cut boards. These boards show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down to a smooth texture. The outer slat boards appear to be oak or ash. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve the wood. This one was missing the lock when we ... morereceived it and we have given it an older replacement lock which is signed. It says, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. This replacement lock comes with the proper key and does work correctly. A lot of doll collectors and collectors of coins and Civil War items have purchased this smaller sized trunk to store their collectible items inside. If you have a teddy bear or doll collection, you can display those items in and on the trunk with the lid in the open position. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. We do obtain all of our leather products for these trunks from an Amish man in an Amish community near our home here in Pennsylvania. The front latches are original and do work properly and they have been remounted with screws. There has been a couple of areas of metal patchwork done on this trunk. One area is at the top left side of the lid. A piece of metal was missing and we have put in a piece to cover this area. A close up picture of this area has been shown.
