Being offered for sale is this Beautiful Classic American Empire Flamed Mahogany Sofa circa 1840. This beautiful 19th century sofa features gorgeous flamed mahogany on the long flat crest-rail. Fully covered bolster style arms with unusual flamed mahogany arm supports, a wide flamed mahogany seat-rail with u shaped front legs with raised panels of flamed mahogany. The beautiful cranberry damask fabric appears to have been recently applied and is in excellent condition with no issues we can find. This mid 19th century sofa measures 30 inches in height from the floor to the top of the center back.Total length arm to arm measures 85 3/4 inches, seat width measures 71 inches, seat depth is 18 1/2, total depth from front to back measures 22 3/4 inches and seat height from the floor to the top of the seat measures 17 inches and this sofa weighs ... moreapproximately 125 lbs. This sofa has a grand and regal presence and is very solid and tight. This sofa is longer than most Empire sofas you find with a seat width of almost 6 ft. The original wood pulls and early hand-cut dovetailed ends on the drawers with the casters in tact on the base. The highboy measures 80 inches high. 18 inches deep and 38.5 inches wide. It is in good condition and very rich looking.
