Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. We do not have the keys to the locks. It has low, simple bracket feet. The hardware is old, but most likely not the original, as the chest came with one of the original knobs loose inside. The knobs that are on there now are similar to the original. It was also painted with a brown wash at some point. The edges are all dovetailed, ... moreand there are old square nails used in the construction. This is a beautiful piece of primitive americana that most likely originates from the southern region, somewhere between North Carolina and Georgia. Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. UP for sale we offer a large Antique American Pine Trunk with dovetail construction. This trunk was owned by Tony Orlando(see below) This steamer shipping trunk has a hinged domed lid painted with"Bremen and New York" in black letters. The trunk opens to reveal a small raised compartment on the interior left side. There are some cedar shavings that are still present in the trunk. The large storage piece has its original wrought iron handles and having brass pull and escutcheon to front. The Trunk measures 31"H x 45.75"W x 23.5"D. We put the date to early 1820's to mid 19th century. The Trunk's condition has overall surface wear& scratches. We have not yet waxed this piece and offer it in it's"as found" condition. There is a small loss to edge of lid on right side, and having a seam separation ... moreto trunk lid which doesn't effect its function.We will be cleaning this trunk and giving it a polish before it leaves. Modern castors were added by the previous collector which can easily be replaced or removed. This trunk has a great history. Lovely 19th century pine box with gorgeous tongue and groove corners. Does not come with key but has original lock and the original hinges. Vtg Antique Primitive Tennessee Made Mountain Meal Bin Chest Pine Poplar Wood
Wonderful old quirky. Primitive mountain bin was used as a storage for corn meal, is suitable to store blankets as well. Measures 36" wide,24 tall, 15" deep. Poplar top is a 15x36" single plank. Sides and back are constructed of two pine planks each, with a single pine bottom. Wear and nicks as shown. Came from an old mountain house in the Boyd's Creek Community in Sevierville(Sevier County Tennessee. Has the original hardware that is undersized for the piece, but was functional in a make do way. 1800s Pine Round Top Wood Trunk Forged Iron Handles Square Nails Primitive. We are selling an antique pine trunk/ chest in its original condition.This trunk dates to about 1870s and still in good condition.There are five large dovetail joints on all corners. The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. Two old brass chains hold the top open. There is some very old wall paper on the inside of the trunk. Shipping will be by fedex. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description. Wood is pine(or similar) Turned legs and apron with rounded lower edge Handmade dovetail joints Top is held in place by 2 cleats 40.5" wide. 20.7" deep, and 27" high Primitive colonial style with inside markings from use making dough The construction is very sturdy. I don't know whether the finish is origi nal- it has a mellow patina with a dull surface. The top has water stains. One corner is rough(see photo) but overall it is in great condition for its age, and ready to use. It could be used to store a variety of items, such as seasonal decoration or accessories. Antique American Pine wood blanket chest trunk, primitive country 1800-1899
This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. The measurements are length 42"x width 18.5" x 20" height. A great size for a coffee table or end table.

A 19th century primitive pine blanket box with bootjack ends. It measures approximately 23-1/4" tall. 48" wide, and about 20-3/8" deep. We believe it is American and we do not know the maker. It almost appears to have been constructed of old flooring. There is overall normal surface wear commensurate with age and use, including plenty of dings and scratches found commonly on antique furniture. The entire surface has been refinished and the hinges have been replaced. We do not have the key. Overall. The structural integrity is good with no major problems.
