The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. That means this trunk went from the United States to Germany, then to Scotland and back to the United States. Measures 40" tall, 22" wide and 21 1/2" deep. Shipping is quoted with UPS. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The trunk features a"cushion top" with a fold out hanger system with original hangers. The drawers are all there. As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. This particular trunk is a cushion-top model, and is also gibraltarized, patentened process in order to make the trunk frame very strong. This is all steel-frame construction. The trunk features a velvet cushioned top to protect clothing during travel. All original"unbreakable hangers" a garment bag for clothing worn, all hand riveted, and featered a patented locking mechanism that actually hooks so your trunk would never open in travel. From the hangers to the cloth lining, and cloth ties, this was made for an entire wardrobe to moved about without putting a wrinkle in any of your items. Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Vintage Trunk Antique Humpback Steamer Storage Wardrobe Chest Reptile Texture
Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. This trunk measures approximately 30 inches long by 16 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches ... moretall. This trunk is being offered"as is" with no warranties and no returns. For Sale– Vintage Wardrobe trunk– dimensions are: closed. Height 42” x depth 23” x 24” wide; open, 48” wide x 42” high x 12” depth, in good condition with 6 drawers& the original wooden hangars. The trunk is black on the outside and the drawers are brown. There are some marks in white on top but I have not been able to decipher them. Would make a great storage area for tableware. Sheets, etc. or a great sewing/crafts storage; or for clothes. The left hand side of the open trunk pulls out about 6" to allow clothes to be hung on the 4(possibly 6) wooden hangars. Interior fabric lining on cover and a"tar-like" substance coated on the exterior COLOR: Black with red& white logo CONDITION: The trunk appears to have all original parts and has not been restored. Fully functioning except at one time I am sure there were drawers that went in the trunk, lots of character, the logo shows on front and on the side of the circus but it is quite worn and the circus company is unidentifiable at this time, there are coasters on the bottom that are still there and do work but not that great as they are a bit rusty, some of the material on the bottom is fraying too but it is quite sturdy ... moreand still could hold items if desired-please see photos do get the best look at the condition-please email if you need any additional photos ADDITIONAL INFO: This wardrobe trunk came from a home in Delavan. Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk / Vintage travel stickers/ Mendel Trunx - Lutz
This is a fabulous early 1900s black heavy steamer trunk lined with fabric. Once opened. There are 3 dropdown compartments which are suspended by sweet hardware from the era. All are covered with a nice blue fabric in great condition, and each closes with a small flat latch. There is a hanger bar front to back with several original wood hangers. there are tie rack bars running front to back on each side. The trunk compartment is lined with the original blue satin material sporting several shoe pockets surrounding the sides and back. This material should be replaced or refurbished. It is old and stained, torn in areas. Graphics suggest it is a Mendel Trunx. Label says Lutz of Washington D.C. There are heavy leather handels. And travel stickers on the trunk: one from Rome, and a couple of others. All in all. A fabulous piece of history, easily ... moremade functional in a guest room, or for use as a Conversational Piece in any Victorian environment. FREE LOCAL PICKUP ONLY!
