This gorgeous two over three drawer chest offers ogee and bead molding around the two top drawers and triple columns running from top to bottom(please note the beautiful flaming of the mahogany on the columns) Three large drawers underneath give lo ts of storage space. The ha nd dove tailing on the drawers is j ust ama zing. We believe the glass kno bs to be original to the chest. This Empi re chest is in excellent condition ~with the exception one lock on a top drawer is missing and there are some veneer dings on the bottom. Circa 1820's Federal Cherry Chest Of Drawers W/Flame Mahogany Front - Two Tone
Circa 1820's Federal Two Tone Chest Of Drawers From a local estate this piece made in the 1820's out of mainly Cherry wood with Flame Mahogany veneered fronts. The piece is solid and of heavy construction with the front drawers being anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2" thick. Each drawer is of tongue and groove construction with the key holes having either Maple or Ivory inserts. The drawers do open and close smoothly. Second drawer has beaded edge work all around front face. The only problem with this piece is the numerous veneers chips on the sides and edges of some of the drawers and front fascia. Most of them have been there forever and really aren't that noticeable but you look at the photo's and decide for yourself. We'd like to believe it adds charm and character. The other problem is a small piece of one of the back ... morefeet is missing and there is an ink blotch on the top both of which can be seen. Again, it is to be expected for a piece this old but otherwise it is solid, sturdy and clean.
