It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Antique Blue Steamer Trunk - Wooden Frame with Metal Corners & Braces
This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. ... moreover the top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. This is a ca.1890 antique flat top steamer trunk. It is steel-covered that has been painted black and floral embossed dark green and bound with oak slats. All of the steel hardwear including the brass lock and the latches are original. The leather handles have been replaced. The key is missing. It has fancy embossed slat clamps and two fingered edge clamps. The bottom has four roller wheels. It is 30"x 18.5"x 23"tall and weighs 45 lbs. The interior which is all original and has not been touched. Is fitted with a lidded tray, hat box and three lovely victorian prints. The only part that is missing is the lid for the right hand box. The front bottom section has four paint chips shown in picture 9. Even with the paint chips this is a very nice little trunk. Beautifully restored antique dome-top steamer trunk. Metal sides and top are embossed with an intricate floral design and braced with oak slats. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. This piece is both decorative and practical for storage. It most likely dates from the late 1800's This piece has been restored and is in very good condition. There is. However, a small crack on one of the top oak slats. See picture. Also the decoupage shows signs of aging. The entire trunk stands about 18" tall. It is 15.5" wide and 28" long. Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. I chose this instead of paper or fabric since ... moreso many trunks from this century were covered with leather, I thought it would be awesome to have one lined with it instead, makes it unique and luxurious: The leather lining also has two very functional pockets on the back side. Antique humpback chest trunk wood and metal steamboat trunk.
Up for auction is a Wood and metal humpback chest. The chest is original there has been no restoration done to it. The chest measures 26" long 17" tall 15" wide the paper on the inside of the chest is original there is a broken handle and some hardware issues that come with age. The inside tray is long gone. This chest has been kept inside a apartment for most of its life. It was not used for storage but as a showpiece so it has been kept very clean. Up for Auction is an ANTIQUE Vintage Steamer Black Metal Lined Wood TRUNK. It has Nice Metal corners and has a thin lining of metal over wood. Inside it is lined also. There is an insert that has makes a shelf. The bottom of the insert has detatched from the sides. See pictures. The wood is lined with blue and white paper. It has a lock by the Eagle Lock Company which was in business in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There is no key and the middle of the handle is missing. The trunk has the intials PTM on it. The metal is scatched. Warped and dinged from use and it is very old. The lining inside also has marks and is tearing from age. It also has rivots on the sides. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Absolutely FANTASTIC and ONE OF A KIND Piece of Late 1800s European-American Culture. This AUTHENTIC IMMIGRANT TRUNK was brought to the USA by W H POPE. The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. With white, but age darkened painted writing on top. Though European ... morein Origin. I do not know for sure where it originated from. The Estate Owners THOUGHT it came from Belgium or Poland. SIZE: Approx 16" across long. 12 1/2" deep. And 12 1/4" High, not counting handle. CONDITION: Very Good. Few dents. Some paint loss, not too much. Here is a true barn find. Right from a new england farm, super neat design on the front. Chest appears to have original hinges and side handles. There is paper/ travel stamps with early 1900 dates on them. I'm guessing its at least from early 1900s but possibly earlier, has metal overlay on top and on the corners with unique art design on the front. Inside is wood with paper lining. Chest is apprx. 24" long 18" wide and 16" high. A very unique chest, a good size, not too big, make a great accent piece.

HERE IS AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE. ANTIQUE METAL COVERED ANTIQUE AUTO CAR TRUNK BOX. Dimensions are 20' INCHES TALL X 18" DEEP X 35" INCHES WIDE. Not sure who it's manufactured by. We believe it is the original brown paint that has minor scuffs and scratches. There is no rusting through. Trunk is still very sound and sturdy and all sides are straight and not excessively dented. Hinges are good and the lid opens and close tight and square as it should. It is used and has wear, surface marks, scrapes and bruises from all those many years of gentle use. the interior and natural back board and inside the lid has been restored natural. Antique Steamer Trunk with Embossed Metal accents
Wonderful antique steamer trunk from family estate. Was my great-aunt's piece. In very good condition for it's age(late 1800's) This trunk measures 30" W x 15 1/2" D x 19 1/2" H. Bent wooden handles are in great condition and solid. Wood slats have a nice rich patina and metal is embossed with shell pattern and shows no rust. Original rollers on bottom, but at some point, additional rollers added. Trunk sits firmly on these rollers. Interior is in great condition with some peeling wallpaper. Top storage compartment lifts out. Will ship Greyhound bus for approximately $75 or do local pick up. Feel free to ask questions.

Google" M.M.Secor. very interesting. Martin Mathias Secor came to America when he was 10 years old by age 20 he started making trunks in his wife's kitchen in Racine. Wisconsin. He soon had 60 employees and in the company's hey day had 100-200 workers. His trunks rivaled the best being made! The trunk being offered for sale probably went from Racine to Chicago where the Secor company had a sales office(see label) At any rate it traveled to Nebraska. Antique Trunk-Leather Handles-2 straps, 4 Metal ends-& fasteners-J
Two black leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" by 3/16" thick nine inches long. Four brass plated metal strap ends painted black one side. Split head brass tacks-eight 1" long to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the strap ends. The handles measure approx 11" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

this very nice round top trunk. has hand stamped rolled brass looking metal sheets on outer finish between wood slats.
