This antique/ vintage salesman sample makes a great chest of ... moredrawers for a doll. The wood is either mahogany or walnut. Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Bottom drawer measures approx 9 3/8" x 8" x 3 3/8" deep. Bottom drawer has original lock(no key) and is lined with a silver color paper which appears to be very old. Antique Miniature Doll Chest with Hankie Drawers Salesman Sample 12” High x 12” Wide x 6 ½“ Deep*It is darker than it looks in the photos. The finish has a darkened aged look– beautiful. This is a wonderful old piece- I believe it to be about 1920 It has 2 handkerchief drawers on the top. There are 2 drawers side by side and below those. 2 large drawers. The drawer pulls are wood. There grooves in the 2 small drawers and in the bottom drawers. On the sides of the chest. There are grooves again, nice detail. When it is upside down the bottom is the bottom of the last drawer. Only one side of the center drawer is dovetailed, it was easier and cheaper to make that way. The salesman had the one corner as an example to show his customers. Condition: Really very good. There are no splits in the outside wood. A couple of the drawers have wood ... moresplits(inside) The corner of the back right facing leg was broken off. But it looks like someone shaped it. It is not noticeable unless you compare the sides. There is a stain in one drawer see photo. All of the drawers slide easily. It needs a good cleaning. Look at all the photos and ask questions. antique doll trunk salesman sample Victorian chest circa 1890
Up for auction is a refinished antique doll trunk or salesman sample chest. This little trunk measures 15inches long by 8 inches deep and 8 inches high. There was no tray with this trunk when found but one was built for it out of oak and poplar. The trunk itself is made from pine and is metal bound. All the metal has been hand burnished but enough of the patina has been left to preserve the antique character of the piece. The lock is an Eagle lock and the latches function but are no longer spring loaded. The trunk has been refinished in a golden oak stain with multiple coats of sealer both inside and out. The original covering has been left on the underside to give a sense of the original look. The trunk is in overall good shape but because it is over 100 yrs old there are dings. Dents splits and cracks but these are minor and add to the ... moreoverall antique feel. It is a very well made solid little trunk that will last a lifetime if cared for. Up for this no reserve listing is an antique doll truck. Or ladies accessory. I'd guess this piece dating from mid to late 1800s. It measures 12" height, 14" wide, and 9"deep. It's covering is leather with a fish scale diamond pattern, and accented with tin or copper embossing on the front and lid. It measures 18" wide X 11" tall X 11" deep and weighs 10 lbs. It is squeaky clean wood construction inside and out and has been cherished in our smokefree, petfree household for nearly 20 years. Presented for your consideration is this Antique small blanket chest. This chest is a small chest measuring approximately 20" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 9" tall. This chest appears to have been handmade with primitive wood and hardware. I am unsure as to the exact original purpose of this chest as it may have been a salesman sample for a salesman to display to perspective buyers. It features its original tray insert inside. Overall this chest is in nice condition for its age. It does exhibit wear associated with age however it also features a one of a kind look that can only be accomplished through years of service. Since I am not an expert on furniture styles) It is an older piece of unknown age with dove tail joints that are hand made. An eBayer has just informed me that it is American made and dates to an era between1835 and 1840 and be based his information looking at the dovetails and the bottom of this piece. This piece might have been a salesman. Tradesman or apprentice sample and it might have also been a sample of a future wedding furniture gift. In older times it was a custom to give to the newly weds a miniature of a piece of furniture that was being ... moreordered as a present. Or it might be a jewelry box or a doll chest of drawers furniture. The wood in the piece is a combination of solid and veneered mahogany depending on where it is. The backing is plywood and it seems it was added later. The top and the bottom are serpentine shaped as well as the hidden drawer. There are 3 drawers of decreasing size + 2 smaller drawers above which there is a hidden drawer. The hidden drawer has a book matched front. Beneath the hidden drawer and the two small drawers and the next drawer there are three dust boards. There isn't a dust board between the two last drawers. Although the rails are there. The bottoms of the drawers are carved in order to make them better fitting and sliding. The key holes are brass and at one time there must have been a lock on the bottom drawer since there are the remnants of the carvings to fit the lock. The eight tiny pulls are 3/8" in diameter x 1/2" deep. It has 4 bun feet. The total height of this chest is 12 3/4" tall x 12 7/8" wide and 6 1/4" deep. Nice Vintage Sample Trunk Made By H.W. ountree& Bros. Richmond. VA This is a wonderful antique sample trunk in good condition for its age. The trunk measures almost 9” high. 12” long and 8” wide. It has a lift out tray that features a compartment with a domed lid. The bottom of the tray is made of canvas and is coming loose. It was repaired at some point but needs more work. There is a vintage sticker inside the lid that describes the trunk and has the makers’ name. The lid does not have hinges. I’m not sure if it ever had them. The handles on the side are missing. In the classic hourglass or"loaf of bread" shape, measuring 12" x 7¼" The box looks like pine wood and is in good solid condition. The leather banding is in fair condition. But looks quite aged and crackled, with some small sections missing(see photos) The hinges are good. There is no inside tray. This style of trunk is named after Jenny Lind. This trunk is in vintage fair condition with usage throughout(some missing brown paper, scratches and surface marks, missing leather handles from sides. This trunk measures 14" long x 9" high x 8 1/2" side measurements. Interior measures 5 1/2" deep. Nice antique patina with it's aged metal and nails throughout. Sold as is. Antique Salesman Sample leather straps metal trim Steamer Trunk Doll Chest
this is a nice small antique doll trunk or salesman sample. I got with an antique bisque head baby doll. It feels like is made out of wood and the stuff atique trunks are made out of it has had the lock cut out and reattached the handle part there is a hole you can see from last pics. Looks like besides lock part has tipical wear from age I would consider in nice antique condition. Has nice leather straps some metal has dents.
