The drawer has dovetail joinery. The table is 28.5” tall, 14” deep and 17” wide. It is a very nice old bedside table that will be a wonderful addition to your antique furniture collection and could be a nice little project to refinish as well. It is a very lovely old piece.

Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and key. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished dome top Civil War trunk. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside and out. Once we removed the paper from this gorgeous trunk we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes the wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. The latches on this beautiful trunk ... morealso work to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. The lock for this trunk comes with two working keys. This trunk has a lot of fancy metal hardware that has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. There is also the original tray to fit the inside of this trunk so you have two levels of storage. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look along with painting the metal black. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. The size of this trunk measures 26"length x 14" width x 17" height. The two of us love refinishing trunks bringing back the beauty into a piece from the past. This trunk is no exception to the rule. The hardware, original tray and being a Civil War trunk itself, make this one a thing of beauty in anyone's home.

It is a very nice, clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of the wormy chestnut wood with chestnut slats also. ... moreOnce we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil as a finish. After much research we have found that by using tung oil, not only does it not leave such a strong odor as other finishes, but it also penetrates the wood preventing the wood from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. There is also a lock with two keys. You will see the original lid stay to help keep the lid open. This trunk also has a lot of fancy metal hardware on it. The metal has also been repainted by hand in black and gold. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the paper from the inside, we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes the wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. The lid on this trunk also has a lid stay to help keep it open. You will also find an original picture on the lid. On this trunk are two new leather Amish handles. The original latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The lock for this trunk is very rare. It has two latches on one lock. This is the original. We do not have a key for this but we felt that the value of this lock alone with a patent date is more valuable than replacing with a new lock. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk was obviously one of the higher class trunks produced at this time.
