RARE ANTIQUE EARLY EDWARD PRESTON & SONS BROAD BOXWOOD 24" CARPENTERS RULE RULER
Description RARE 24" BRASS& BOXWOOD 4 FOLD BROAD CARPENTER'S RULE BY EDWARD PRESTON& SONS. BIRMINGHAM Rare broad Preston model Large EP trademark Scale marked arch hinge All holding pins Lovely condition 19th Century 4 section 24" folding brass& boxwood carpenter's rule. This is a rare and early looking broad gauge rule with no model number. Made by the prolific Edward Preston& Sons of Birmingham. This rule is simply marked"WARRANTED BOX" on the outer surface. And has an unusually large EP trademark logo surrounded by"TRADE MARK REGISTERED" across both legs on the inner surface. On most later rules, the trademark much much more subtle- even hard to find on some. Preston began in 1825 and the ornate numbering style I believe puts this rule to the first half of the 19th Century. This beautiful ... morerule has measurements in inches on both sides- sub-divided in 8ths and 10ths on the outer surfaces and 16ths on the inner ones. It has a fully scale-marked arch joint in the center. Together with brass caps and middle plates. Condition: As you can tell from the pictures- very good. The inner and outer surfaces are bold and readable and in great condition. Joints all firm and secure. All holding pins present. Large dark stain on one side of the rule. Inner surfaces have much of the original finish on the boxwood and the gilt still on the brass parts. As with all my items. This will be securely wrapped to get to you in the present condition. Antique CARPENTERS WHEEL STAR Vintage Quilt ~ Lots of HAND - QUILTING Detail
Carpenters Wheel Star Antique Vintage Quilt ~ Simply Lovely What a beauty this quilt is! Carpenters wheel and star is full of bright colors. Greens. Pinks, purples, yellow, blues and more are framed in a lovely lavender. A large variety of beautiful novelty cotton prints make a wonderful combination. The back is muslin and a green binding has been applied. The hand-quilting measures 10-12 stitches per inch. Simply divine! Measures 82 x 62. And hand-quilted. It looks as if this one was gently used. I saw one tiny tear on front. See pic. Almost missed it as it blends right in! The binding is slightly frayed. But nothing major. There are some light age related stains on the back. No loose seams. Strong and sturdy, and in excellent antique vintage condition. Please keep in mind that these are vintage and antique quilts. So there may be some small ... moreloose seams and some age related stains. I try to report as much of this in my descriptions as I can, but may at times not see every little thing. Lots of history and charm in these old quilts.

Beautiful Antique Carpenters Bench
This is a Beautiful Antique Carpenters Bench. It came out of an Old Carpenters Shop near the Train Station in Durango. Colorado. This bench would make a Beautiful Kitchen Island, Buffet Table, or you could simply use it as a Carpenters Bench. The possibilities are endless with it. It is 11 feet long, by 30 inches wide, and 32 inches tall. I have never seen another so beautiful or so large. The bench has two working drawers. The bench does have some fire damage but it is structurally sound. The underside of the left overhang as you can see in the pic is charred. Most think it only adds character. The Fire the bench was in was over 50 years or more ago so there is no smoke smell with it. It has two working vices on it. We are moving will not have room for it anymore. Description This is a pair of ships carpenters lady’s leg calipers dating from the late 18 th– early 19 th century. I found these many years ago in the bottom of a ships old tool box. Trunk. There are some punch marks on both sides. These look like somebody’s initials a T on one side and possibly a W and L on the other. The hinge is copper riveted The caliper is in as found condition and hasn’t been cleaned It measures 104mm(4 1/16 inches) long. ANTIQUE CARPENTERS WORKBENCH SOLID MAPLE WELL USED GOOD COND INDUSTRIAL TABLE
This is a fine. Old hard maple wood carpenters bench. The 2nd owner of this bought it used more than 70 years ago from a local school in Shelbyville, Indiana. I am confident this dates to the earlier part of the 1900s. It is in pretty good, well used condition. Both wood vices work. The rod from the vice on the side has been broken and repaired. I am inclined to think the two drawers were later add-ons and could easily be removed- they are in decent functional condition. Otherwise the top has great patina. The legs are solid and sturdy. The top does lift off the base for transport. This is pretty heavy as it is solid hard wood but two people can manage it. The length of the top excluding the vice on the side is"79 inches and the vice adds another 4" and so altogether is just shy of 7 ft. It is 24" deep excluding the front vice ... morewhich adds another 6" to make the total depth 30" From ground to the top of the counter is 36" The only thing I did to this was remove a piece off paneling the previous owner put on the bottom support rails for storage. Then I put some paste wax on the bottom frame and the back side panel as they looked dry to me(even though very solid) I simply cleaned the top lightly to get the garage dirt off. This table would be perfect for many purposes. Of course the carpenter could definitely use it, but it would also fit in many other household settings- kitchen island, bar, garden. It has a fantastic industrial quality to it. I am sorry but I will not ship this. I am on the Northeast side of Indianapolis and it is available for pick up any time. Thanks for looking!

This was bought at a estate farm sale in Northern IL. The women we bought this from told us it was her grandfathers and back in the 1920's he was a carpenter and built this tote to hold his tools. Antique Vintage Tin Copper Oil Kerosene Carpenters Lamp with Original Cap Chain
Up for auction is a small antique Copper Oil or Kerosene Lamp. We believe it could be a carpenters lamp because it was salvaged from an antique carpenters workshop. This is a very unique little tin copper lamp in very nice condition with elaborate handle. It has a screw off top and a long original wick. It is about 4 inches high with a base of almost 3 1/2 inches diameter. It is constructed of tin with a copper finish and is magnetic. The pictures show how the top is soldered internally. The lamp has no dents. Still has original cap and chain and minor rust spots within. The handle appears to have had some sort of attachment on end of handle to stoke the wick because(1) there are remnants of something being there and(2) there is a tiny hole on end of handle/tube. We cannot confirm because research has revealed little or no information. There ... moreare no markings on the lamp we could find, if you can add additional information please pass it on. Antique 28" Brass Plated Stanley Tool SW Adjustable Carpenters Wood Level No. 30
Being offered is this rustic looking but still functional level. All the clear liquid are in the leveling cylinders. The 2 rings are marked Stanley Adjustable. This is 28" long and you can see it has some classic looking hard work appeal to it but nothing that detracts in my opinion. I dont really see any cracks or big shavings or anything. The one brass plate is missing a screw and the 1 screw that is in that side would need some wood filler. Overall a very rare piece and a neat looking piece that is still functional. The top plate is marked Stanley with an SW inside a hart and then New Britain Conn USA then has No 30 to adjust remove plate.

Antique Carpenters Workbench with Vise
Up for auction is a great Antique Carpenter's Workbench with a quick release vise and eight drawers. It is in as found condition distressed with old paint on it from use. The butcher block top measures 52" x 22 1/4" and the vise sticks out 3 3/4" The base with its paneled sides is 36" x 19" and has 8 drawers. One drawer handle is broken and there is a chunk out of one drawer. The handles are labeled with letters that look like they were made by nail impressions. The locks are signed Sheldon& Co. Locks. The inside of a couple of drawers have green paint and a few others have staining. This is a very heavy bench and well made. Please ask questions and view pictures as all sales are final. This one is DATED 1896(on the face of the right vise) which you will rarely see. It's an old. Thick and heavy workbench with 2 vises. This is a VERY nice version of these old workbenches. The vises work, the table is solid and it comes with two heavy metal bench dogs. This one is dovetailed and has a large drawer underneath. The base comes apart by removing the wood shims that hold the cross braces to the two supports. The one support on the left has three legs to support the deeper left side. The workbench has a number of scrapes and nicks as you can see in the pictures as well an awesome patina! We love it! The dark spots you see on the workbench are shade spots from a tree above. It is a consistent warm honey ... morebrown color throughout! It measures 73" L x 27" D and is 80" L x 32" W with the vices. There are 16 quilt blocks that are 12.5 inch finished. With 5 inch wide beautiful Rose/pink sashing and white feedsack setting squares. There is a wonderful assortment of Mid-Century cotton fabrics that include BLUES. PURPLES, RED, PINK, GREEN, etc. mostly stripes, making this a very graphic piece of Americana. All of the white fabric is Feedsack. Terrific condition with no holes except for tiny ones where the feedsack string was removed. There are a few small loose seams. The patina is absolutely amazing. This hasn't been made to look aged or distressed. The gentleman who owned this bench would have been over 100 years old, if he were with us today. He was a master craftsman who created many of the hand made clocks and cabinets in their simple home beginning in the early 1930’s, and we could only imagine how many hours he must have spent ... moreworking away at this very bench. This authentic vintage carpenter’s bench bears all of the patina and markings of its age and purpose. You’ll find both deep and superficial cuts, grooves, and wear marks… small paint splatters, a few small burn marks and more… each helping to tell the story of its history. There are two vices at the front of the bench in perfect working order. We found this antique bench to be neat, orderly, and lovingly maintained in the basement workshop of the home. We’ve taken care not to change a thing, simply giving it a linseed oil treatment to bring out its beautiful tone and texture. This is definitely one of the nicest carpenter benches we have come across! Someone took the time to preserve the character of this bench and they did an unbelievable job! It could definitely be used a workbench again. But we are thinking beyond that. With industrial and primitive being two of the hottest decor styles in demand right now. You can have the best of both worlds right here! Do you have extra space in your kitchen? If not you might want to think about knocking down a wall for this one! This would be the most unbelievable kitchen island or sideboard in your dining room! No room there? How about a very unique bar? Do you see the trough along the one side- or should I say drink rail? I'm sure wherever it would come to rest in your house you would be the talk of all your friends with this conversation piece- everyone will want ... moreto see it! This bench is not too big and not too small- it comes in at about 75" long by 24" wide by 33 1/2" tall. The length and width measurement are just the main workbench top and not the vises that stick out a little more. Regarding the width you would add about 6 1/2" for the vise and handle for a total of roughly 31 1/2" in that spot. The length including the end vise would be 83 1/2" long the way it is pictured. It does not appear to go in all the way and where it is pictured is as far as it goes. We are not 100% sure if that is how it is supposed to be or if it should be able to go in a little further. It couldn't go much further in though with the nuts sticking out of the side in that same area. It's an antique workbench so it has a lot of wear and tear to give it the character it has. If you are expecting something new and perfectly smooth on top this is not for you. It is impossible to describe every flaw and frankly in our eyes we do not consider them flaws. Structurally. This level is in excellent condition for it's age with uniform wood color and finish, a couple tool box nicks in the wood, age staining to the brass, and a fully intact and correct level bubble. This rare 10 inch No. 102 Level came from the Stanley Model shop. And doesn't fit any of the Stanley Level type studies I've found. Although it's a 10 inch level, it wasn't made in the 1859- 1866 timeframe as it doesn't have the Type 1 or Type 2 Trademark from those years. Also, it has a variation of the Type 5 and 6 Trademarks, but with a"Patd ... more6-23-96" underneath. It has what looks like"TradeMark" uniquely stamped in the oval black bubble area. Antique Carpenters Tool Chest Wood Box Woodworkers Trunk Toolbox Railroad Tagged
THIS AUCTION IS FOR PREVIOUSLY OWNED and USED Antique Carpenters Tool Chest Wood Tool Box First of all. I would like to say this box is NOT in perfect condition. Please read the descrition. I obtained this old box at an estate sale in Massachusetts It measures with the top closed appx. 37 5/8” across 23 5/8” deep and 23 ¼” tall with the top closed. It weighs appx. 135 pounds There are some cracks in the wood around the trim on the top of the box and other places. No major damage to the bottom of the box. The top middle portion of the lid has some issues. The wood has separated from the tops outside trim. It doesn't completely come apart; it still has a couple nails holding it together. The wood from the center seems kind of soft and from wear. Moisture or something. That part of the trunk appears to be a different type of wood, a ... moresofter wood from the rest of the trunk. You can see from the inside of the lid. There is also some damage and missing or broken trim. It is pretty loose from the top also. A few nails are holding it. The insert draws also have issues and have broken and cracked wood. In some places wood is actually missing. This is how I obtained it. The trunk has paint. Wear, scrapes and scratches. It even shows signs of moisture stains and is a little dusty and dirty. There are a couple old screws missing from the brass corners. The person I obtained this trunk from told me that it had belonged to his Great Grand Father that lived in Dana Massachusetts and was a woodworker back when Dana was a town. The box was just passed down. The box was stored in his basement and he needed to get it out to make room. It was filled with tools at the time but I took them out of the box. The tools are not included in this action. There are a couple things that do give up this trunks age. Antique Carpenters Framing Square The metal part of the square measures approx. 17" long by 2 1/2" wide. The markings for measuring are almost worn off. The wood handle is 8" long. 1 7/8" wide, 3/4" thick. There is a brass design inlay on both sides of the handle and a brass guard on the inside edge of the handle. What makes this square so rare is the BRASS PIN on the inside edge of the handle. When you are marking a board to cut the pin keeps the square from falling. Long Antique Japanese Carpenters Nokogiri Saw Tool Tree Cutting
This is an antique Japanese carpenters saw o r lumber jacks tree cutting saw. The saw is 34 inches(86.5 cm) long. That's from the end of the blade to the end of the handle. It is 5 1/2 inches wide(14 cm) at it's widest point. The teeth cutting area itself is 20 inches long(51 cm) None of the teeth are damaged and its very sharp. The handle is new and is made from the branch of a camphor tree. It's been hand signed by its maker(photos 3& 4) which is usually an indication of a very good blade. We don't know how old it is.
