It's a party with elegantly dressed and coifed Lords and Ladies conversing while servants offer refreshment. On the opposing side is a lovely longtailed songbird in a rose thicket surrounded by butterflies. Both scenes are topped by raised golden lizards with long tails. The handles are green opposing or"kissing kitties" The"walls" dividing the scenes feature 2 pairs of scaled google eyed coy fish and abundant flora decoration. The surface of the lamps has a wonderful slightly raised texture where the paints were applied. The photos do not do proper justice to these fabulous lamps! They are large. Measuring 16 1/2" to the top of the vase and 9" wide. The mounts are antique brass and the bases are footed chinese wood stands in dark brown. I have just replaced sockets in both lamps and they function beautifully. The shades shown are not included in this auction but if you want them, I will include them in a separate box for an additional $100.00 plus shipping. In my opinion, these lamps really should have large custom made tall drum shades. This pair was purchased from a wealthy estate in South Beach about 10 years ago and are VERY FINE. It is 66 inches wide, 92 inches tall to the center crest, 83.5 inches high on the side posts, 5 inches deep on the bottom, and 5 inches wide on the posts. It is all original untouched. It has a personalization on top of the crest of 3 gold gilded letters that I cannot make out. It has gold gilded trim; gold gilded liner and it is simply beautiful. There are a couple of small pieces of molding missing on the base that I believe we can detail. There is a hole on the center of the personalization, which I believe must have been a finial at one time.

It is marked H.M. Kearnes Luray 19 Luray, VA from Luray Virginia. The lock plate is marked with patent dates of March'59& April'77 and the hinge bar is marked May'70- please note these are 1800 dates(1859, 1870 and 1877) The exterior has canvas over wood with metal corners and lock latch. The interior features paper covering-womens clothes and accessories in the cover and checkered pattern on the lower section-with some water spots. This antique treasure measures 10 3/4" by 18" by 10 3/4" and is in good condition consistent with its age. With original lock and hinges. Measures 45" long, 17.5" deep and 14" high. On the bottom left Rear board, there is a small piece broken off. Of No consequence. Approximately 60.000 Germans immigrated to Pennsylvania between 1727 and 1775, many of them toting their belongings in chests. Throughout this period, the lift top lid chest was one of the earliest forms of furniture. It maintained its status as one of the most important storage items in rural southeastern Pennsylvania homes well into the 1800's. Rare Antique Louis Vuitton Trianon Gray Steamer Trunk 1880's
This trunk has been authenticated by the curator of the Louis Vuitton exhibition in Paris through emails. It's the real deal! This size is a rare half steamer. Measuring 13.5 inches high. 35.5 in wide, and 19.5 inches in depth. This trunk is about 130 years old, has traveled the oceans, and shows it's wear. It does have some condition issues. Please look at the pictures carefully. The inside is covered in the original blue/white striped ticking, and it has it's original removable tray, very rare to find the tray with the trunk! Also original label from the Paris Exhibition with the dates 1867, 1868. You can see half a serial number on the top of label. There is also a Louis Vuitton stamp on the bottom of trunk. A"W" is painted on both side ends. It is very very rare to find a gray, un-monogrammed trunk, This is a piece ... moreof history! The very first trunk Louis Vuitton made was the Trianon gray canvas steamer introduced in 1858. The trunks were made of waterproof-treated canvas with a wooden frame. Previously. Trunks of the day featured rounded tops to facilitate water run-off. Many other designers of the day imitated Louis Vuitton's Flat Topped Trianon Trunk, so in 1876 he changed the plain gray Trianon design to a striped pattern making it harder for his imitators to copy. Lightly sanded, brushed and cleaned again then sealed with a high quality finish, left uncovered to show the beautiful pine, notice 1 piece of wood was used to make the back, that makes for a much stronger trunk to support the lid. The outside has been sanded. Cleaned, painted and sealed with a satin finish for protection. the new latches are in perfect working order. For your consideration is a ca 1880 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The working lock comes with a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has a new tray. Antique Camelback Trunk Nice vintage trunk approximately 28"L by 15 1/2"D by 17 1/2"H. Made around 1880, the metal clovers? on top read(pat'd Mar 16, 1880) it is trimmed with pressed metal panels made to look like alligator skin. The trunk is solid, the bottom wheels are all in good working condition, the lid is firmly attached and it has it's inside drawer. It has wear to the surface paint, the leather side straps are missing/damaged, it looks like the front center latch was re-attached years ago with a small metal plate added, and there is a small hole in the metal along the front right edge(tried to show in picture) There maybe other small issues I missed or forgot to mention but overall this is a very nice decorative trunk that will display well. This is a ca.1880 ladies hat trunk. It is 22.5"x 16.5"x 19.5"tall and weighs 22 lbs. Sometimes called a half trunk. It is solid pine with oak slats. The steel lock is original with a working key. The leather handles and straps have been replaced. The interior has been refinished and has a reprint of this trunks original lithagraph. The P. Brown label is original. ANTIQUE Refinished DOMETOP Trunk - 1880's - GORGEOUS and HEAVY
Up for auction we have a beautiful antique Dome Top refinished trunk. Dating to the late 1880's. Sometimes referred to as a Bride's Trunk, or even a Saratoga- this trunk shines. Measuring 30 x 20 x 23, it is a great medium sized trunk. Outside has been refinished and the inside retains much of the original trays and compartments. The bottom portion of the trunk was cleaned and freshly papered with a cream white wall paper. Handles have been replaced, and original castors on bottom- trunk can roll, and thank goodness it can, because this beauty is heavy and weighs about 50 pounds. One of the things I love about this trunk is the second tray with all original canvas banding- no rips or tears- amazing that it is is this good of shape- and the letter keeper, I can just imagine the love letters being stored in that spot- I know I am too ... moremuch of a romantic- oh well. Absolutely FANTASTIC and ONE OF A KIND Piece of Late 1800s European-American Culture. This AUTHENTIC IMMIGRANT TRUNK was brought to the USA by W H POPE. The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. With white, but age darkened painted writing on top. Though European ... morein Origin. I do not know for sure where it originated from. The Estate Owners THOUGHT it came from Belgium or Poland. 19th C leather covered brass studded camphor wood trunk. Hand painted. Floral design border.Measurements(inches)35.5" wide18.5" deep16.5" tallThis beautiful blanket chest in its original condition. There is wear to the leather and the paint as shown in the pictures. Most noticeable is the lid on the trunk. The leather is worn around the edges of the trunk as well. The leather has been recently conditioned with 100% Neatsfoot Oil leather softener preserver. One of the original rolling ball type footing hardware is missing, the other three are still in good working condition. Missing original latching hardware. This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! Antique Refinished Steamer Trunk Ca. 1870's -1880's
Up for auction today we have recently refinished slightly curved top trunk antique steamer trunk that has been freshly refinished inside and outside. Dating to the 1870's- 1880's. This trunk is heavy and solid. It measures: 30 x 19 x 21.5 inches and weighs approximately 45 pounds. The dried canvas was removed to highlight the gorgeous wood underneath. The wood was sanded smooth a handful of times. And then stained with Golden Oak, then a coat of Tung Oil, and a two coats of Satin Polyurethane to seal it- a very nice smooth finish. The metal ware was not painted. Handles are still there with original end caps. Side has the initials of P.E. L, and Andover, ME on one of the slats. My sweet mom lined the inside with one of my favorite fabrics. A nice reddish gold cotton fabric- looks just amazing and ready to store blankets, linens, photographs, ... moreimportant documents, and what ever other treasures you might have. This size trunk is great as an end table or under a window for plants- with being slightly curved top, you still can place your coffee cup on it with no worries. Great for books, magazines, coffee table books, etc. The back of this trunk has added interesting hinges- these hinges look to have been added after the trunk was made. Not sure when, but they are the style that makes a trunk not need a lid stay- the top will open all the way and these hinges prevent the trunk from bending back to far. Trunk Antique Large 1880's Camelback Saratoga All Original Lock Barrel Key

This rare large(interior 36"L x 21"W x 29"D) 36"H, including lid, old(1880's) barrel stave top style Saratoga trunk with metal edge binding and trim, original working double hasp brass lock and iron latches. It has five hardwood slats across the top and two across the front, rear and both sides. Trunk body is thick pine and was probably covered in leather when new. The original working lock with spring loaded key cover and barrel key were made by Star Lock Works of Philadelphia. Ornamental cast metal clamps on the slat ends as well as the cast iron latches on the front were patented by Charles Taylor in 1877& 1878. Antique 1880's Tin Trunk - Great Storage - clean and in ORIGINAL condition
Every once in a while I come across a trunk in original condition that looks fine just the way it is- with character dings and scratches. Bit of paint gone- but all in all with tons of character and battle wounds. This is one of those trunks. It is in very good condition- looks nice and rustic and is ready to be useful and functional in your home or cabin in the woods. Here are some specifics about this beauty. It has been completely cleaned on the outside, dusted with Pledge and dried with a clean linen cloth. I did not sand the slats or do anything to this trunk. It comes from a local home- where it has been lovingly stored for 75 plus years. The family came from Lithuania to the US and used this trunk for travel. Many trunks were made here in the US and then traveled overseas to come back again. The original lithograph of a woman is found ... moreon the center top lid. The tray is also original and in good condition. Paper inside as mentioned above is torn and stained- but after all, it is over 100 years old. This is an early ca.1880 ladies stagecoach half trunk. Sometimes called a hat trunk. It is embossed leather-covered with hardwood slats with decorative brass buttons. The brass lock mechanism and key are original. The leather front straps and the end leather lifting handles have been replaced. The interior is complete with a lift out tray and a drop down bonnet box with lid and lovely victorian lithograghs. It is 20"x 16"x 19"tall and weighs 30 lbs. For sale today is a very nicely restored large humpback trunk made by George Burroughs and Sons in Milwaukee. WI. I found patent dates of March 1880 on the hardware and June 1881 and July 1885 on the wheels.which makes this neat old humpback as much as 129 years old- a true antique. This trunk has a presence to it. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the metal bottom is good. Has had multiple coats of clear applied and has the two original skids. The three original hinges are HD, tight, polished, work well and the lid closes well. The lid stay is original. There are 65 plus pieces of polished original hardware on the trunk. The center lock is original, has been polished ... moreand there is no key. The mechanical latches have been polished, are tight, fancy, HD and work well. The original tray is long gone and the interior has been removed. The metal/tin is smooth and in good condition. Victorian Steamer Trunk 34 x 22.5 H x 19 This is a versatile and attractive true antique from the late 19th century. A medium-sized Victorian steamer trunk made of wood, trimmed with tin and steel hardware, and featuring a flat lid. It’s 34 inches wide and 22.5 inches tall– perfect for a coffee table, lamp table, or bedroom storage. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and around all four sides. The interior has been completely cleaned and refinished with a reproduction Victorian lithograph inside the lid. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. A very nice three-drawer 1880-1885 Eastlake chest with a beautiful pink and gray marble top. Which can be lifted off for moving. Note the interesting cove-and-pin construction of the drawers. All drawers will lock. But there is no key. It takes a barrel key, and have found that keys of friends will easily work the locks. Spoon-carved type of decorations along side each end of the top drawer. Note the construction details and condition in the photos. Size: 44"l. x 22"w. x 30"h. Chest has not been refinished and the marble top has not been polished(probably not ever) Though it would enhance the piece to have it polished. In the late 1870s-1890s, a large fancy round top trunk became popular, because it was used by the wealthier people visiting the spas and racetrack at Saratoga Springs, New York. The Saratoga Trunk was a very large, domed top style with fancy trim, covered in either leather or metal. Early trunk catalogs and ads describe Saratoga trunks as a"large round top of the highest class" Round top trunks(also called humpback. Camelback. Monitor top, and barrel top) were made in a wide range of sizes and coverings. It is believed that the round tops were made for those who wanted to try to have their trunk packed on the top of baggage cars, so they would not be damaged. Side Leather handles are intact. This wonderful trunk has not been refurbished and is in good condition overall. None of the veneer is missing. It has 4 compartments. 2 in a removable tray and one large main compartment. The upper tray is constructed of a heavy cardboard type material. Charming all-wood domed child's trunk circa 1880s. Has original top handle and fantastic front brass hinge. Hinge has a mark. Patent date of 1880s(I think) Great shape and design. Adorable size at 14" tall x 16" across front, 13" deep. It is utterly charming and substantial enough to hold things. Beautiful outside condition on wood which might be pine. Two splits on top. Front must have had leather straps at one time but are now gone but 3 of 4 metal clips remain. Inside is unrestored; no interior tray.

Charming Antique Dome Pine / Oak Wood Small Trunk, c 1880, Great Brass Hinge
Charming all-wood domed small trunk circa 1880s. Has original top handle and fantastic front brass hinge. Hinge has a mark. Patent date of 1880s(I think) Great shape and design. Very useable size at 14" tall x 16" across front, 13" deep. It is utterly charming and substantial enough to hold linens or other objects. It certainly was too large for a doll trunk so might have been for a child but it's heavy and substantial so was not a plaything. Beautiful outside condition on wood which looks to be pine with oak trim. A couple of expected splits on top. Front must have had leather straps at one time but are now gone; 3 of 4 metal clips remain. I always thought I'd buy a leather belt at a thrift store and add straps but never did because it's great the way it is. Inside is unrestored and original(but cleaned by me) ... morewith no interior tray. Would look great at foot of single bed. Shipping might be less to California and will refund anything over $5.

Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk, Refinished, ca 1880
For you consideration is a fully refinished flat top antique trunk. This trunk was stripped of its exterior canvas and interior paper. The wood was then cleaned and sanded. The interior was stained and sealed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The exterior was painted and sealed returning it to its original look. This trunk is a little unusual as it measures 30" wide X 17" deep X 22" high. It does not have a interior tray(original trunk did not have a tray)or a lock key. It works well as a side table. Storage trunk at the end of the bed or a decorative antique trunk in most any room. The cost of shipping. Packing and insurance is $65.00 to the lower 48 states. Antique Refinished Slightly Curved top trunk - Ca. 1880's
Up for auction today we have a lovely refinished antique steamer trunk. Dating to the late 1880's to 1890's. Originally covered with thick canvas, what was left of the canvas was removed to highlight the gorgeous wood underneath. This size is impressive, a perfect trunk for storing winter blankets, pillows, or other seasonal items. It is slightly curved top, so will do fine with magazines on top or a cup of coffee. The wood on this trunk is a light honey pine color- natural stain was used as well as tung oil, then a few coats of clear shellac. When I found this trunk this summer at the Brimfield Flea Market I thought it might be European. As the style is similar to trunks made during this time in France and Germany. After consulting with a few trunk friends, they told me many of the American Trunk makers were trying to copy the style ... moreof the Europeans, using brass decorative ends and small brass buttons. The edges on this trunk are leather over the canvas and for the most part is very dried and has come off. The leather that remained I used mink oil then shellaced it several times- in some spots it still is chipping off- just wanted to share that. It gives it more of a rustic look, but it is over 100 years old and is by no means brand new. The Handles are long gone and the end caps are still there. But I chose to just put in ribbon rather than take the chance with removing the delicate rivets that are used to keep end caps on. If the new owner prefers, I am happy to put thin leather straps through the end caps for more durability. The back three hinges are very special- a very unique style hinge which makes you able to open the trunk without a lid stay. This style hinge was Patented May 3, 1887- and is imprinted on each hinge with that information. Now for the inside- I just have to say WOW. My sweet mom did an amazing job lining the inside of this trunk with gorgeous tapestry style fabric. Please feel free to ask for more photos. Happy to send them along.
