My husband and I cleaned out a house and found this old trunk in it. The lock on this old trunk is imprinted with the name Eagle Lock Company. Connecticut Patent Date December 6, 1892. Obviously it is used. The pictures show its condition. If you are interested in this trunk. Payment it requested within 3 days of the auction ending using Paypal. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Working Lock and Key
Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed. Up for consideration is a very nice victorian trunk. It has a working lock and key. The left lattch. Or hasp, is missing but still closes securely with lock. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks and Key Here is the first double lock refinished dome top trunk that we have had in a very long time. This trunk dates back to the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This large dome top is made up of pine base wood, ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome is made up of early ply. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. This one has a lot of distress marks which include areas on the wood that are darker in color, probably due to moisture in various places on this trunk. This particular trunk was a little more weathered when we received it than most of the trunks we refinish. So we did make it as nice as we could, but do want to mention some of the characteristics. This one comes with the two factory original working locks. We have matched up a key that does work in each of the locks. You can lock your personal belongings away from others if you want to. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps and the handle caps have an embossed star on them. You could store a lot of belongings inside this trunk since it is pretty large. It may look nice at the foot of the bed in the bedroom or anywhere in your house where storage space is needed. If you are one who enjoys collecting rustic more primitive style antiques, then this one might be just the right one for you since it is more rustic than most trunks that we refinish. Up for Auction is an ANTIQUE Vintage Steamer Black Metal Lined Wood TRUNK. It has Nice Metal corners and has a thin lining of metal over wood. Inside it is lined also. There is an insert that has makes a shelf. The bottom of the insert has detatched from the sides. See pictures. The wood is lined with blue and white paper. It has a lock by the Eagle Lock Company which was in business in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There is no key and the middle of the handle is missing. The trunk has the intials PTM on it. The metal is scatched. Warped and dinged from use and it is very old. The lining inside also has marks and is tearing from age. It also has rivots on the sides. for your consideration A beautifully restored Victorian flat top Steamer Trunk with working lock and key. New leather handles. Straps and buckles. ca.1890 The inside has been stripped. Brushed cleaned, sealed and covered with a period correct high end fabric design. The trunk has been reinforced from the inside where you see the cracks in the wood. Leaving the character that only a real antique trunk would accumulate over the years intact. The original canvas was in too bad of shape. So it was stripped to reveal the beautiful pine underneath. The outside has also been sanded. Cleaned and sealed with a satin finish for preservation and protection as well. Latches are in perfect working order. the lock can only be locked with the key. Trunks were always covered w/ leather at the time. until the Civil War made leather scarce. After that, trunks were either cheap canvas-covered things, or expensive leather-covered things. People didn't like the paper. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Lock & Key
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. Leather Straps and 2 Keys My husband and I have refinished over 120 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 36 1/2" length. 21 1/2" width and 24" heig ht. The size of this trunk will make a great coffee table. This particular trunk is pine with oak or ash slat boards. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and a little on the inside due ... moreto the rough cut wood that the inside was made out of. We didn't want to alter that finish too much. We then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. One of the stress cracks is on the top. If you notice it in the picture. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Along with the lock we attached two new Amish made black leather handle straps and buckles to help the lid stay securely shut when wanted. We then attached to the lid of this trunk a stay so it will remain opened when wanted. Thank you for taking the time to look at our trunks. A trunk is a great addition and centerpiece with many uses. Up for consideration is a very hard to find Rare Taylor Trunk. It has been tastefully recovered inside. The handle caps are dated"Pat Oct 29. 89. The Brass plate on top is marked"C. A. TAYLOR TRUNK WORKS. CHICAGO, NEW YORK. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. We have a reproduction steamer trunk lock with 2 keys that has never been used. I bought this over 12 years ago for a steamer trunk I was going to restore for my daughter needless to say I never got around to it and the trunk is no longer in the family. It is stamped Ohio Travel Bag made in Taiwan. I do not have any mounting hardware for it just the lock and the 2 keys. It measures about 6 1/2 inches by about 3 3/4 inches at the widest point.
