It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. The originally outside canvas covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The lock does not have a key. FREE SHIP ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(163-66) With Measurements: 35"w x 21"d x 28"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. ... moreover the top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel. Antique/Vintage Wooden Dome-top Shipping Trunk-White Star Line Stickers
This vintage/antique dome-topped wooden trunk with steel-covered corners and a steel bottom has partial White Star Line stickers on both sides as well as several“ New York” stickers. The trunk has all of its original steel hardware. Including both side handles and casters on the bottom, except for one of the eight metal end pieces on the wooden strips on the lid. The side handles and casters are still functional. The original lid hinges are still present(a few screws are missing) but new hinges have been installed and they are the ones actually holding the lid on. The trunk measures 26 1/2” long. Stands 18 1/2” high and is 15 1/2” deep. It is in good condition. The wooden sides are solid. The inside paper lining has deteriorated quite a bit. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. Excellent Dome Top Oak& Tin Steamer Trunk w/ Original Tray This is a very fine example of a 19th century travel steamer trunk with a dome top. The trunk is constructed of Oak and metal. Presumably tin or sheet steel. In the late 1800's when you went on a trip you would often go for more than a month at a time so you had to bring a wide range of clothing and personal items for the trip. This trunk was probably a mid range model, not the cheapest plain jane trunk but not the fanciest trunk either. One thing is for certain, they made trunks in those days to withstand a beating. This trunk is as solid as the day it was made. It open and closes easily and the hinges are still firmly in place and in good working condition. The interior still has the original paper lining. The black metal is flat and plain while the hammered metal sections ... moredepict Red stars and blue leaves. Immigrant Dome Top Country Pine Treasure Chest Trunk. Hand crafted about 1830 in northern Europe. This immigrant trunk or"treasure chest" has original wrought iron mounts. The wonderful old finish is very well preserved. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Carved wooden pegs and hand planing marks show expert country workmanship. The lock is incomplete and there is a leather strap to pull open. Corners have hand cut dovetail joinery on this furniture. This is 19th century hand dovetailed domed top pine chest with old gray paint and traces of red. The name"Louis Becher" is painted on the side and top. The chest is a really nice medium size(39.5"W. 17"H, 18"D) it could be placed on a large table or on the floor. The exterior shows prolonged signs of use, but the interior is extremely clean. The hardware is all original but there is a missing clasp on the lock. It is very solid, the hinges work well, and it is otherwise completely functional. This large trunk has a beautiful patina. It appears to be in excellent condition with the noted scuffing and scratching that comes with age and transport. The paint in the address is bold and bright. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. For your consideration is a ca 1880 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The working lock comes with a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has a new tray. 1800's dome hump camel back steamer travel chest trunk alligator skin design
Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. Antique 1830's Wooden Dome Top Trunk with Maker Label and freshy lined
I picked this up from my mother's after she lined it and I was very tempted to keep it- the lining is gorgeous and so wonderful that it still retains original makers label. Some years ago. Someone else stripped the trunk of the old leather but kept the nice brass tack decorations. Trunk has original thick leather handles and is all wood. Nice honey color, the wood is nice and smooth- but as any item over 100 years old it is not perfect- it has character dings and scratches- evidence of a life well lived and traveled. Here we have a very old 1800s horse wagon truck with 4 tiny metal wheels. all the wheels work fine. The front latch haas no key the 2 sides flap locks work right side needs a little adjusting but it will close. As you can see some one painted the black over on the side but top looks like it was not also leather handles on side look to be redone with brand new heavy duty strap handles. from left to right its 28 1/2 inches wide then front to the back its almost 15 1/2 inches long then top to bottom its around 20 inches tall. any questions please ask. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

T his lovely dome-top trunk measures 34" wide. 19.5" deep and 22" high. Its beauty is the embossed tin ivy pattern and the oak straps and trim. We have used it for 30 years as a central decorative piece with the added advantage of storage space. Old trunks fit into every decor. Small casters are built into the base for rolling. Glides were added prior to our ownership. Most probably to protect the casters. These can be easily removed if desired. The leather straps rotted out years ago, a common occurrence for old trunks. And some of the interior paper is ripped. Other than that, it is in very good condition considering its apparent age of over 100 years. There is no key for the lockset. This Original Steamer Trunk is AMAZING! Does not have a tray. But everything else is completely original and in Fantastic shape. Missing the left side leather handle, but pieces of leather still there. The Brass plating is still in incredible condition and the design is Awesome. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique Steamer Trunk, 7 dome oak wood slats- replacement parts
These are 7 dome top trunk slats removed from an old trunk. This is one of those trunks I saved for my garden. These are probably before 1890 because there are pairs of nail holes. In the mid 1890s there was a change to only 1 nail where the 2 had been before to save money. These slats have both double nail holes and single nail holes but they came from the same trunk top. These need to be cleaned and refinished. See photos for condition. I think I labeled the picture correctly. But I had taken the picture in October and was trying to match nail holes with actual pieces. too lazy to take new pictures) Sizes are approximate: 4- slats 18” 2- slats 17 ½” 1 slat 17” These were the best of the lot. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Working Lock& Key Here we are offering you a nice primitive refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is an arch top since the sides of the trunk at the top are the same height as the center of the top. On dome tops. The center is a little bit taller than the sides. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of rough cut pine base wood with some type of hard wood outer slat boards, maybe poplar or birch. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural color since we did not use any stain during the refinishing ... moreprocess. We did glue a stress crack on one of the top outer slat boards. We are saying it is primitive since there is more wood showing on this trunk than fancy metal hardware. Also the boards are more crudely put together in which there are some small gaps where they joined the wood together, especially on the inside on the bottom. The rough cut boards that we speak of show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down when this trunk was made. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have found a key for this lock that does work properly. The front latches are original. We have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. In addition to the lock and latches, these straps secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. The side handles were on this trunk. They are metal. One is roundish in shape while the other one is a little more rectangular. We have shown a picture of the more rounded one. I am selling this beautiful dome top and till. child's trunk or dolls trunk. It is made of embossed tin and wood. The leather handles are missing and can easily be replaced. The till is missing the small lid. Note the early casters on the bottom attached with hand wrought nails. I am selling it untouched uncleaned. It has some small specks of pink paint that can easily be removed. It will be more stunning cleaned and detailed. Dimensions are 20" wide 10 1/4" deep and 14" h. Untitled Document Purchased at a recent estate sale in NC full of fine antiques. This beautiful ornate trunk was a nice rare find. It has many exquisite and elaborate details. Please see images. It measures 23" tall. 30" wide and 17.5" deep. A collector's item! Looks great for its age though it does have some wear. The only parts I notice missing on the exterior are one of the leather handles and it did not come with a key. There is a name written on the right side. See photos to judge condition. It has its caster wheels. Overall it is very nice and I believe everything is original. The inside seems to be original and in very good shape for the age. Some staining and the tray compartment was probably all covered when new(like the center is covered with the lift up lid) This is NOT my area of expertise but I'm happy ... moreto try to answer any questions you might have. This tunk is made of metal and wood. in overall good shape but the top is loose and it does need restoraton as you can see but the inside bottom is still ok no holes. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top keenan brooklyn New York 1800s
Very nice wood dome top trunk in untouched vintage condition. Has part of the original label that refers to the keenan company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk may need some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. I think it looks great the way it is with the exception of maybe new handles. A perfect accent piece for any room and a great piece of NYC history. 19" x 24" x 16"
