It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. The originally outside canvas covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The lock does not have a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has the original tray. This trunk 32" wide X 25" high X 19" deep. It has an unusual piece of embossed metal on top. The cost of packing. Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. This would make a great display piece in your store, business or home. It has a covered hat/ glove compartment in the lid. Hardwood slats. We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. Excellent Dome Top Oak& Tin Steamer Trunk w/ Original Tray This is a very fine example of a 19th century travel steamer trunk with a dome top. The trunk is constructed of Oak and metal. Presumably tin or sheet steel. In the late 1800's when you went on a trip you would often go for more than a month at a time so you had to bring a wide range of clothing and personal items for the trip. This trunk was probably a mid range model, not the cheapest plain jane trunk but not the fanciest trunk either. One thing is for certain, they made trunks in those days to withstand a beating. This trunk is as solid as the day it was made. It open and closes easily and the hinges are still firmly in place and in good working condition. The interior still has the original paper lining. The black metal is flat and plain while the hammered metal sections ... moredepict Red stars and blue leaves. For your consideration is a ca 1880 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The working lock comes with a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has a new tray. 1800's dome hump camel back steamer travel chest trunk alligator skin design
Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Many pieces from this era are known under different names: Saratoga trunks(for the vacation trunks ladies brought to resort town Saratoga. NY) Barrel Top or Barrel Stave trunks(because of the ribs that mimic a barrel) or Dome Top, Camelback, or Humpback for the curved lid. The two closest examples I've found both sold for $795. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

Cleaned, sanded, sealed and covered with a high end period correct fabric design, The outside has been brushed cleaned. The slats sanded and sealed with a satin finish for protection and preservation as well. all hardware and latches are in working order. It is in great shape for over 120 years old. Antique Camel Back Dome Top Steamer Trunk Chest C. 1872 Original
This Original Steamer Trunk is AMAZING! Does not have a tray. But everything else is completely original and in Fantastic shape. Missing the left side leather handle, but pieces of leather still there. The Brass plating is still in incredible condition and the design is Awesome. The wood is all intact and the metal roller wheels are all there. Try and find another one like this in this amazing condition. Look at the PATINA on this Gorgeous Trunk! Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Absolutely amazing dome Steamer Trunk. Very nice black and wood look. In outstanding condition for its age. Has the top compartment and the original label that refers to the James Dooley company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Additionally it is adorned with many stickers and customs tags from the various places it traveled. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk has had some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. It seems to have a lacquer like finish. Antique Steamer Trunk, 7 dome oak wood slats- replacement parts
These are 7 dome top trunk slats removed from an old trunk. This is one of those trunks I saved for my garden. These are probably before 1890 because there are pairs of nail holes. In the mid 1890s there was a change to only 1 nail where the 2 had been before to save money. These slats have both double nail holes and single nail holes but they came from the same trunk top. These need to be cleaned and refinished. See photos for condition. I think I labeled the picture correctly. Very nice wood dome top trunk in untouched vintage condition. Has part of the original label that refers to the keenan company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk may need some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. I think it looks great the way it is with the exception of maybe new handles. Antique Dome Top Hump Back Pressed Tin & Wood Slats Steamer Trunk Herringbone
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique 1870's dome top/ hump back steamer trunk covered with pressed tin in a herringbone/ basketweave pattern. The wide tin mixed in on the edges has a pattern of tiny diamonds with dots in the center. The lid has curved hardwood slats and lots of heavy tacks holding all of the metal in place, the tacks are most likely brass plated. The previous owner painted it a shade of dark rust/ reddish brown so you will probably want to refinish it- it looks as if it could be sanded down to the bare metal and wood because the paint isn't very thick.We believe the metal handles seen in the photos are not original to the trunk, they were probably replaced with the black metal handles whenever it was painted. The handles should be leather and if you'd like to replace them(as well as the metal brackets that ... morehold them) you can find them reasonably priced at any trunk restoration site on-line(they even sell them here on Ebay) The trunk measures approximately 31" long X 20" wide X 24" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats and all of the metal on the trunk look to be in good condition. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. The key is missing and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two small metal lever-action clasps that keep it closed tightly in front. These are a tight fit and probably need lubrication but you can still get them to open and close. These clasps are stamped what appears to us to be' PAT MAY 1875' The inside of the trunk is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining- the lid has just a hint of the original chromolithograph and the border. A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key and Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray Here is a lovely refinished dome top or arch top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 24 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 14 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 14 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. The trunk appears t be made up of poplar base wood which are rough cut boards. These boards show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down to a smooth texture. The outer slat boards appear to be oak or ash. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve the wood. This one was missing the lock when we ... morereceived it and we have given it an older replacement lock which is signed. It says, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. This replacement lock comes with the proper key and does work correctly. A lot of doll collectors and collectors of coins and Civil War items have purchased this smaller sized trunk to store their collectible items inside. If you have a teddy bear or doll collection, you can display those items in and on the trunk with the lid in the open position. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. We do obtain all of our leather products for these trunks from an Amish man in an Amish community near our home here in Pennsylvania. The front latches are original and do work properly and they have been remounted with screws. There has been a couple of areas of metal patchwork done on this trunk. One area is at the top left side of the lid. A piece of metal was missing and we have put in a piece to cover this area. A close up picture of this area has been shown. Antique Small Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather handles ... moreon either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. A Ladycomet Double Lock Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest,Key,Tray
Gorgeous Extra Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Double Latch Style Lock. Working Key, Interior Compartment Area, and an Interior Tray Here is a rare find since this trunk is exceptionally loaded with fancy hardware and it comes with the beautiful double latch lock. This beautiful dome top should date back to the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This wonderful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome top is made of early ply. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it look ... morenice. There are some typical older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. These distress marks are quite common and typical on just about all of the trunks that we refinish. The base wood has a tannish brown color while the outer slat boards have a more medium or walnut brown color. This trunk maker must have spent who knows how many hours applying all of the fancy metal hardware to this trunk. We counted how many metal hardware parts are on this trunk which include the lock, latches, and wheels. It came up to over 90 pieces. That is just incredible. We have not had a trunk this fancy in quite a long time. We wish we could find fancy trunks like this more often, but they are hard to come by. Some of the fancy metal rosettes that are on the top slat boards have been pressed flat over the years of being shipped on railroads and having other trunks and items stacked on top of them. They are all there, just we wanted to say that some are flat and some are still domed. It's not a big deal, we just thought we should mention it so there won't be any surprises. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock and key and full Interior My husband and I have refinished over 170 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is absolutely beautiful very nice decorative refinished dome top hump back steamer trunk from the late 1800's. The particular d imensions for this are 28" length. 16 1/2" width and 18 1/2" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. This would also make a wonderful Christmas gift for you or someone that you cherish. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began ... moreby taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and on the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We also found on the metal a patented date of March 16. 1872. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we installed a new lock with 2 working keys. The lid has the original picture and original label. The label has written on in"Baer's Evansville Trunk Factory" Evansville. For sale is a huge 1800's immigrant steamer trunk. Best guess is German or Swiss. Has a man's name on the top, AUGUST GEUNERT. NEW YORK. I bought it in Pa. At an antique store. They said it belonged to a Doctor. In Philadelphia.They bought this and several Hepple White pieces. From his estate. It is massive. 45 inches wide,22 deep, and 25 1/2 inches tall. And weighs about 75 pounds. Has a some issues with the wood. Please see photo's. Most are the 1/4 inch trim that surrounds. The lid base. A very easy fix for a carpenter. All the straps are present and in great shape with only the hinge. Front pieces altered. The lock plate is 6 3/4 by 4 inches in great. Condition.I do not have the key. This lock was way ahead of it's time. There is one like this on ebay now for $167.Even they have value. I can find no markings but all metal ... morewas hand forged and smithed. No screws. All rivet and hand pounded straps. The common screw was not mass produced until around 1800. I do not know how to age this chest but. Antique Steamer Trunk Chest Leather Dome Lamontagne Montreal
You're bidding on a wonderful antique 1800's steamer leather dome top trunk! It has nice ornate design. the solid heavy front lock is marked Lamontagne Limited Montreal. It has a great inside compartment. It just been found in an attic and original finish. It's heavy and solid. It needs some repairs to some leather parts. One wheel is missing on bottom and one metal part on side. They put a piece of wood inside. It's 35" long by 23" high and 20" deep. It weights about 55 lbs. It has a super look! Good luck! 0)

A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key & Tray
Fabulous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray This beautiful trunk sure has taken on quite a transformation from the time that we have purchased it. It was very rustic and in dire need of help. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches. From floor to top is approximately 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely dome top top should date back to the mid to late 1800's and it appears to be made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has a nice reddish brown color to it. There are some typical older distress marks on the wooden surfaces. These markings include older nicks and dings along with some slight ... moreareas of discoloration. The majority of the trunks that we refinish have similar distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this nice trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. This one was missing the front latches, so we have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. Instead of having the metal latches, you can use the straps to secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled in addition to the working lock. As far as repairs go, there were two pieces of hardware missing where the outer slat boards meet. So we have replaced these with some home made pieces that look somewhat similar. There was also a section of an outer slat board missing, and we replaced it with a piece of slat board from a parts trunk. Refinished Civil War Era Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest Very Nice
I am listing a Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Civil War Era Trunk. This trunk is probably from the mid 1870's period. As some of the hardware is marked 1872. T he trunk's dimensions are from left to right across the front- 26 inches. From floor to top is approximately 19 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. I have removed all of the original paper that covered this trunk, inside and out. The trunk is made entirely up of pine wood. The wood has been finished with three coats of clear lacquer. The wood is in great shape with a couple of stress cracks in various places which are quite common on trunks this old. This one comes with the original tray. The front latches are also original and do work. The side handles are really unique and quite rare to see anymore. They are made of wood and are usually broke. These ... morere in excellent shape. Going to the interior, I have finished the interior wood with two coats of clear lacquer. The interior is in pretty good condition considering how old this trunk is. The exterior bottom underneath the trunk has normal wear. It also has the four factory original rollers and slats. I gave the bottom a couple coats of lacquer as well to make the trunk overall cleaner. If you have any questions about the trunk, just ask me. Thanks for looking. As you can see from the photos to the left and above. It is lined with a floral patterned paper and has a beautiful lithograph containing dogwood tree blossoms, a child in victorian dress and two children that appear to be Eskimo/Inuit with a dog. One of the children is riding in a sled with the other standing behind probably on the runners. As you can see. This tray is in pretty rough shape. However the art was so beautiful we had to rescue it and hope someone can use it! This tray measures 27 3/4" x 13 1/4" on the very bottom. It then angles up to measure 27 3/4" x 14" The piece measures 7 1/4" at the middle from the bottom ... moreto the highest part of the dome. There is one wood knot that has come loose from one end that is still with the tray. This is a beautiful piece of history! Thank You! Antique vintage Martin Maier oak slat alligator tin dome top steamer trunk 1871
This is a one of a kind find. This gem is all 100% original. As shown in the photos This unique trunk is over 130 years old, with normal wear.The key is missing, but has the original wood tray. All of the tin looks to be in very good shape with a wonderful patina. The hinges, lock and corner latching mechanisms are in perfect working order.
