Chips, or cracks. In fact, I am not entirely sure if it has ever been used at all, though I can't say that for sure. It has been washed and the colors look good. Any yellowing of the china you see in the pictures is from the yellowish lighting used to take the pictures and is not the china itself. Seeing as how china is very fragile. I will be wrapping each piece of china separately and thoroughly before shipping. Also, because of the fragile nature of the china, shipping insurance will be used when shipping this item and is already included in the shipping cost. That way if it does get broken during shipping, you should be able to get your money back. But hopefully my packing job will be good enough that it doesn't come to that. Ancient Pre Columbian Proto Classic Nayarit Seated Shaman Figure - 100 BC
An ancient pre-Columbian Nayarit terracotta figure of a seated shaman. Dating to the Proto-Classic period, 100 BC– 250 AD. The male figure is shown seated. Coloured with a deep ochre pigment and wearing only a belt, painted necklace and elaborate headdress. Supported on legs contorted into a seemingly impossible position, the broad, square torso imbues this individual with a domineering physical presence. The small hands are gripped tightly into fists, as if the figure were flexing his muscles whilst shouting. The head is marked by discordant almond eyes, a prominent nose, deep, round mouth and small lips. The ears and nose are pierced with multiple rings. The staring eyes and open mouth of this figure are disturbing yet gripping; appealing in the strangest of ways. He appears in a trance-like state, speaking to a very ancient place inside ... moreour psyche. Nayarit figures form part of the mysterious shaft tomb culture of ancient western Mexico. Little is known about ancient Nayarit life beyond these enigmatic figures and the other artefacts they produced. The discordant facial expressions of figures such as this have in some quarters been advanced as evidence of shamanism. Haunting and intense. Their true identity remains lost in the distant, unknown past. Height: 13 inches. Condition: Very good. Some minor restoration, including to nose piercing. Ancient Pre Columbian Proto Classic Nayarit Pottery Warrior Figure - 100 BC
A large and imposing ancient pre-Columbian Nayarit terracotta figure of a warrior. Dating to the Proto-Classic period, 100 BC– 250 AD. The standing male figure is shown naked. Coloured with a deep ochre pigment and wearing only a series of arm rings, prominent belt and pointed cap. Supported on enormous claw-like feet, the broad, square torso imbues him with the physical makeup of a warrior. One arm is raised brandishing a club, the other extended slightly forward and bent at the elbow, holding a small shield. The head is marked by sunken almond eyes, a prominent nose and parted lips revealing large grinding teeth. The ears and nose are pierced with multiple rings, a painted necklace is also present. The staring eyes are disturbing and discordant. Yet almost impossible to tear away from. An overpowering wrath bleeds from the very fabric of ... morethis striking warrior. SquareTrade © AP6.0 Here's a very nice small COLIMA VILLAGE CULTURE CLAY FIGURE HEAD. Ca: 200 BC-300 AD, found many years ago in Mexico's West-Central Highlands. It's 1 3/8 in. 3.6cm) tall. 15/16 in. 2.2cm) wide and 7/8 in. 2.1cm) thick. It's from a detailed modeled figure with carefully made delicate features, coffee-bean eyes, small nose and small mouth. There's one intact earspool and the remains of a once fancy headdress. It's nicely made of fired tan clay(terracotta) and in very good to excellent condition. It's a nice example of a COLIMA figure head from a culture noted for its ceramic figures which often depicted everyday life in the village.
