The late 1700s to early 1800s gold clasp which is hallmarked"M&R" was originally configured for four strands. But has been adapted, probably sometime in the mid or late 19th century, into its present configuration of two rose gold chains studded with a collection of gold cuff buttons, including one very unusual shell shaped one, and a single 1870 octagonal gold coin that appears to be a California small denomination gold coin with a"G" below the liberty head. Marks: The back of the clasp stamped"M&R" in a rectangle. The clasp is 18 kt. gold or perhaps higher and is definitely a piece of 1700s or ... moreearly 1800s American gold. The clasp has fine bright cut engraving around the edge and a beautifully engraved old two letter monogram. The chain is 10k gold. The buttons are either 10k or 14k gold. It features a hand carved natural coral cameo of a lady as well as 2 old cut diamonds. The whole ring is hand made. The cameo is carved with fine detail and it also has good depth which is very hard to find in many cameo pieces. The diamonds are estimated to be at least 0.60 carats total. H to I color and SI clarity. This ring is estimated to be 12K solid gold. It was tested to be at least 10K and a weak 14K. This beautiful piece measures 20mm long and 15mm wide on top. This is a pendant made from a large ancient Mayan(Olmec) green stone bead. The photo doesn't catch the colors very well. It is about 3/4 in. in diameter and about 1/2 in. thick. I had my jeweler wrap i n gold wire. Then. I suspended it from a fine rolled leather cord. The cord fit up to a 16 in. neck easily. So it is unisex. A gold chain will work for this, too. Really nice. New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company issued and cancelled $1.000 gold bond certificate dated in the 1960's. This is an authentic certificate, not a copy or reproduction. The certificate has a beautiful engraved lithographic vignette of an old steam locomotive with a harbor scene and factories in the background. The bond is unusual in that it is payable in the Gold Coin of the United States upon maturity in 1998. The Troy and Greenbush Railroad was chartered in 1845 and opened later that year, connecting Troy south to East Albany on the east side of the Hudson River. The Hudson River Railroad was chartered May 12. 1846, to extend this line south to New York City; the full line opened October 3, 1851. Prior to completion, on June 1, the Hudson River leased the Troy and Greenbush. Cornelius Vanderbilt obtained control of the ... moreHudson River Railroad in 1864.
