Or the Green Duck Metal Stamping Company, was a prolific company that produced a wide variety of metal products, most notable among those being their political campaign buttons. Started in Chicago, Illinois in 1906, the company bounced around various Chicago addresses for nearly 70 years before moving to Hernando, Mississippi in 1975, closing it doors in 2004. Description: An extremely rare and unusual cane and map prepared in 1893 for the Chicago World's Fair or. As it is better known, the 1893 Columbian Exposition. This is the earliest known example of a cane map. The genre was invented by the Columbian Novelty Company and, as the map itself notes, the patent was still pending when issued for the fair in 1893. All subsequent cane maps, most of which date to the first half of the 20th century, follow on model of this cane as patented by the Columbian Novelty Company. The map extends from an internal spring loaded roller mechanism in the top of the cane. It is printed and hand colored on both sides. Inspired by the elegance of contemporary Scandinavian glass. And competing with the lead glass being made by Steuben Glass, the Libbey Glass Company contracted with Edwin W. Fuerst to design a line of glassware named"Modern American. Walter Dorwin Teague collaborated with Fuerst on this"Embassy" pattern, a classic Art Deco decor with rectangular, fluted stems. SCARCE 1939 PICTORIAL MAP OF NEW YORK CITY BY RUSSELL PATTERSON. These maps were produced as promotional items by Macy's Department Store for the 1939 World's Fair. For some reason. Very few have survived. Infact, this map only survived because it had been used as the backing for a print which I had purchased at auction. It was not until I removed the print from it's frame that I discovered the map. In February of 2010 a copy of this map sold at Sloans& Kenyon auction house for $850. The map is in generally Very Good condition. There are several areas where the paper shows some browning due to age. The map is mounted on a cardboard backing, but shows signs of having been folded in quarters before it was mounted. Measures 26 1/2" by 21" Can be shipped flat for $15.00 in the USA. Cards• This is a boxed set of playing cards from the Century of Progress. The 1933-1934 Chicago World's Fair. The cover of the box has this information, with a picture of the Skyride. The cards inside all have that same illustration of the Skyride on the backs. The deck is complete with 1 joker. Condition is good. The cards have most of their silver gilt edges left. But it is worn from use. The cards also have some wear from being played with-streaks, smudges and some spotting to the faces. There are a few little creases here and there to cards, and light soiling to the gilt edges. The box lid has some scrapes, tiny pieces of paper missing from the illustration and light soiling. The box bottom has scrapes and small tears to the red paper. CHICAGO WORLD'S FAIR PICTURE FRAME ART DECO
This frame is an original World’s Fair product. It is 7” x 9” a silver‘foil’ like material with a hammered pattern on the fiber board construction. The contrasting designs and Fair emblem are navy blue. Very good condition for it’s age. There is minor wear at three of the corners. The most wear is on the lower left corner, see the close up photo. A few light scratches and pinhead sized impact marks in other areas. The photo in the frame is just a copy from a book. The back stand is solidly attached. A book on World’s Fair Collectibles indicates this frame came from the Midget Village in the Midway of the fairgrounds. The light reflecting off the surface of the frame makes it look like the frame is of uneven tone. That is just a function of the light at the time shooting the frame. Color is even all over.
