Vintage Antique American Family 25 Pound Platform Scale Green-Orig.
Up for your bidding pleasure is an original green American Family 25 pound scale in working condition. As you can see from the photos it is off about a 1/2 pound but it does register the weight of things. I wouldn't use it for your baking projects but it is a very cool item for your kitchen. The face plate is in good condition with the American Family Scale still intact and readable. There is also a label on the side but it is not very legible. It is an Ingraham and the label says"Duplex No 1" I downsized to a townhouse without a fireplace and no longer have a mantel so I don't need a mantel clock. The pictures show the condition of this older clock. I do have the key. I'm not sure if it runs but when I wind it. I do hear the tick tock and the hands do show the movement of time. This is a really cool manufacture plate that came off a high school locker in New York. On the front it says DURAND-STEEL LOCKER CO. CHICAGO PATENTED SEPT. 29. 1908& July 20, 1909. It seems to be made of brass. This company is still in business today with locations in Chicago and New York. The company started in Chicago in the early 1900s. This plate is dated even before the NY location was established so it could be one of the original plates used when the company started. Auction is for the locker plate only. This item is hollow through the center and does not show evidence of being cut off at either end. It is iron or steel(magnetic) and has rivets holding it together. It is 8 inches long. With openings of 2 1/2 inches on the left side and 2 inches on the right side. The rivets are 1 1/4 inches apart.
