This is a grey volcanic stone sukia. Or shaman figure, from the Atlantic Watershed region formerly inhabited by the Guetar(or Huetar) Indians. These figures frequently have one or both hands holding a tubular object up to the mouth. Others, like this one, seem to be contemplating or gazing. In the photos. It may appear that the nose tip is chipped but that is not the case. The nose tip was intentionally formed in 3 nodules and is completely intact. This is an authentic piece and not one of those museum cast copies which seem to show up all too often. This sculptured stone makes a super display piece and draws a lot of attention. The figure looks Mayan and has an eleborate headdress(feathers? He is seated and holding a basket or container. It is made from a type of volcanic stone and weighs approx. 10+ lbs. VERY NICE!

It measures approximately 7 ¾ inches in height. 2 ¼ inches deep and 1 ½ inches wide. It is approximately 2 pounds in weight. My husband worked in Santo Domingo in the late 1960s and often made trips into the interior on his free time. He was interested in this period of history and purchased these pieces from the local Dominicans there. This piece is in very good condition. Antique MAYAN Carved Stone Figure AZTEC Carved BLACK STONE FIGURE Deity Effigy
Offered is a Mayan Aztec carved stone deity or effigy measuring approx. 7 inches in height. The figure is carved from a moderately heavy. Yet porous, piece of black stone. The figure is approx. 7 inches high and approx. 3.75 inches wide, at the elbows. The stone measures approx. ¾ to 1& 1/8 inches thick. The back of the carving has been polished to a soft luster, as have the high spots of the relief-carved figure, as shown. There is a light coat of dust over all, especially in the unpolished recessed areas of the carving. I do not know what the stone is. As already mentioned, it is black, though there are a few small areas that have a faint reddish-brown tinge. Condition is good, there being an old, glued repair to a horizontal crack running just above the knees of the figure. I purchased this carved figure in 1986 at an estate auction ... morein Saratoga County, NY. It was found, just as the previous owner had left it, tucked between two layers of cotton inside in an old chocolates box. PRECOLUMBIAN MEZCALA CULTURE STONE FIGURE FROM MEXICO
This is a large. 8.5" tall stone figure from Mexico. It is the figure of a man with what looks like birds on his head and shoulders. The stone is dense, basalt, I think) and in good condition. The two holes through the shoulders are cone shaped, bored from each side, and have calcification inside the holes. One expert said he thought it was from Costa Rica, I believe it to be Mezcala, from Mexico. Email questions.

Pre Columbian Carved Stone Seated Figure Idol Effigy Statue Olmec Mayan Mezcala
This listing is for a Pre Columbian carved stone figure. The stone is relatively soft. And a gray color where the original surface is chipped. The statue stands on its feet, though it is in a seated or hunched position. The front surface is darker than the back. The deeper recesses have a white crystalline residue. The figure stands 5.9" tall, and weighs 27 ounces. Its in good condition save for the lighter color chips and scratches. I am fairly unfamiliar with South American artifacts, and rather than attempt to attribute it, I will let you decide what culture it came from.

Amazing Olmec Stone Figure Ex-Gallery Pre-Columbian Ancient Artifact NR
Hi I have an awesome Olmec stone figure for auction. This white stone Olmec figure is amazing in many ways. First off this Olmec figure is extremely thin. The finess how they carved it is incredible. One of the other unique things is the open ears. You can see thru them. The mineral deposits on this ancient artifact are one of the testaments to its age. I have never seen another Olmec stone artifact like this. I use a half dollar for size comparison only and it is not included in this auction. I can combine shipping. Thanks for looking.
