There is no reserve on this item. You are bidding on a framed. Hand colored engraving from a local estate we are selling. This item depicts Francis Marion the US Revolutionary war hero who was given the monikor"The Swamp Fox" for his exploits in the Carolinas during the war. This print appears in very good condition. The frame measures 15.5" x 12" The backside of the frame has an inscription from the former owner indicating that this was purchased in Charleston. SC in 1969 from an antique dealer named Schindler. The former owner was an attorney and judge in Marion, Indiana. He was an avid collector of American historical documents. He has several historically significant, early American hand written documents including letters, military orders and financial records. Please feel free to ask questions about this item.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR TINDER BOX FOR CARRYING FLINT USED AS A FIRE STARTER 1776
Fine condition probably made around 1800. Has a button release to open. Measures 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" Nice little piece and clean. I just found a picture of this exact item in a book showing Revolutionary War items. It said the soldiers carried these sometimes with a piece of flint in them for starting a fire so that could push the date back to 1776. This could also be a brass snuff box. But my best guess is the flint holder. The book shows one exactly like this. It is not flat on top or bottom as you would expect with a snuff box.
