This Sign is a very rare dr. pepper sign and have only ever seen 1 other before like it and it was not even in as good of condition as well as was broken and still sold for OVER $450 so if your looking for a possible sleeper this may be the one. I dont know much about it but I do know that it was a sign that hung on the entrance door for a corner shop. Deli, gas station, and has an"open" sign that rotates to"closed" The paint has faded off most the sign but only the paint, physically the sign is in great condition. It is made of all aluminum except the two original screws that hold the open/closed sign on. It dates back to as early as 1948 but is no newer then 1954 because the logo had changed after then. This is a very ornate and well detailed piece. It has lost its straight pin but I have the loop that it would have attached to(see reference photo of similar pin) You can ascertain the correct location by the tack spots on the back. When I came across this antique piece in the little shop in Cusco quite a number of years ago. I was under the impression that it has hung on the front door of the home. But something like this is too fine for that use. After researching the piece when I got back ... moreI realized what its intended use was. The indigenous women and girls of the Andes in Ecuador. Bolivia and Peru fasten their shawls with beautiful clasps called tupos. Or topos. The tupo usually identifies the wearer's area of residence and is an important part of cultural significance for indigenous Andean women and girls. This is actually an example of how cultures combine different motifs…after further study this particular manta, tupo is fashioned after a Chatelaine which the mistress of the household wore and contained necessary keys and scissors etc objects for daily use and were also presented to brides by their intended husbands. When I looked at the piece closely I was fascinated by the amber Cabochon which is above the monkey figure because it looks like something may be in it. None of this was apparent in the dim light of the shop just the Andean highland motifs of each“charm” the lock the key the pitcher. They were compelling enough. This piece was described as Mayan by the seller when they originally bought it. Originally it had a lucite mount that it sat on and this stand which had a metal plaque and a dedication broke during a moving of houses sometime in the 80s. Owners neglected to fix stand and stand was eventually lost. So I'm really shooting from the hip and would very much appreciate any information from anyone with more expertise could share. Carved as a figure's head with some large round earrings and/or ... moreear deformation. Some kind of large ring seems to pierce from the lower lip to the underside of chin. Lots of wear and weathering is visible. Nose is large and pointed with good definition. Mayan and the demon/deity is Tlaloc the rain god. Who demanded the tears of children. The vase is missing the head. Which I was told looked the same as the head on the pipe. I contacted Christies of New York about auctioning the items. As they do not have an auction category for these items, they have referred me to a specialist. As I don't have much in the way of patience, I am now offering these pieces on Ebay. The Singing Throat was Starr Piano Co.s secret weapon to gain the biggest market share of the early phonograph market, which was dominated by RCA Victor. Overall measures 20" tall. The horn measures 15 1/8" wide and 9" deep. These were known for their deep, rich and amazing sound. This sound, at the time, was unsurpassed. Overall condition is excellent with the exception of someone who wasn't thinking did some sanding on the original manufacturer's sticker and logo. Sticker and logo can still be read, however. There were eight different models of the horn but I'm not sure which model this item is. If you place sound behind the horn at the feed hole, it still sounds amazing and fills ... morethe room with sound. We have been in antiques for 20 years and we have never seen one. We really have no idea what the value of this is. If we are low, you get a deal; if we are high, make an offer on it if you want it and shipping is free to you. To me, it is fairly expensive. Painted mask from the time of Mexican independence before 1900 and wonderful collector’s piece of history! After independence from the Spaniards. There was a slight strengthening of the indigenous population, which prevailed in the holy festivals. Now, the indigenous fell not completely back to their old rituals, it was too long, the influence by the Catholic Church. There was a mix of old and new faith. Formerly hostile tribes and warriors were imitated and provoked; now it was the Spaniards themselves, the Spanish character and especially her looks were shown greatly exaggerated and distorted in part, and this was also characterized in these masks off. Even today you can see in some cities and towns. For example, on this Day of the Dead customs in Central America. Where it is not uncommon to brutal intermediate shocks. RARE ANTIQUE LATE 1800'S ELECTRIFIED LEADER ARGAND KEROSENE LAMP
This Auction is for a rare antique late 1800's electrified Leader Argand kerosene lamp in excellent condition for its age. Based on the limited information that I could find while researching this lamp I believe it was made by Bridgeport Brass Works in the late 1800's and was electrified when I received it. The flame control knob on the side of the top section is deeply stamped with the words"LEADER ARGAND" and all metal parts are non-magnetic with the exception of the small plate below the electric socket at the top. The base appears to be cast brass. Or possibly bronze, and the remainder of the metal parts are brass with very nice detail on every section of the metal parts. The main section of the lamp is a muted white smoked glass with yellow hues and an illustration of a beautiful horned owl sitting on a tree branch ... moreand other foliage around the lamp. This lamp would be a beautiful piece with the addition of a period lamp shade or a glass chimney similar to the original chimney. Two of the four original chimney clips are missing but the remaining two are very strong and would certainly be sufficient to hold a chimney in place. There is a lamp shade harp with a solid brass finial included with this lamp. The metal parts can be polished or buffed. item in picture is actual item. If you look on Wikipedia under Remote Control. And under History, You will see it says the"Lazy Bones" Remote Control by Zenith was the first ever TV remote. It is not referring to this model I think, but this comes from the same line of Lazy Bones Remotes. A great collectors item. Gag gift, or conversation piece. Also nice addition to any antique appliance or lamp. This antique remote control switch comes with it's original box as pictured. It appears to have gold designs on it that may be real gold leaf. The remote is tested and works. It's simple function is to turn things on and off that are plugged into it via the push button switch. I do not know the exact date this was made.
