I do not know the exact age of this item but I know the guy whos estate I bought it from was an archelogist and traveled the world for most of his career and this was out of his personal collection! The Sandal has definite age and looks correct to me but I am no expert in this field so please take a look at the pictures provided and make your own evaluation! The sandal also has a archelogical tag on it from when it was found. As you can see it does have some wear to it which is not unusual for a item of this age as most disintegrated over the years. This was purchased from a tag sale from an elderly couple a few years back. They seemed unclear about where it was from, they both worked for the military and had apparently found it in their travels. From our research we have ascertained that it is South American and in the manner of Pre-Columbian pottery. We are assuming that this is a tourist piece and not a period piece. In any case, it is a hand formed piece made from a red clay and painted with dark lines. It measures 2&b 1/4 inches high and 2& 1/4 inches wide at the feet. The condition is excellent, no damage or repairs. This is an unusual ceramic pottery piece. Items will be shipped USPS Priority Mail. All packages must be insured. We do not charge sales tax. This bowl is decorated in colourful hues of orange. Red, brown, and cream. The outer panel is decorated with peppers/capsicum which surround the bowl. There are 3 tiny chips on the inner rim which can be seen in the photo. The colours associated with the“Nazca Culture” are earth based, as can be seen in this beautiful bowl. This is a great piece of rare Chimu art with two birds looking over their shoulder. There appears to be a tiny monkey sitting against the spout. Authentic piece of Pre Columbian pottery vessel with unusual form. Good condition with the usual surface scratches. There is a small 1 inch chip or crack behind one bird' swing but not full thickness. The black ware seems enhanced by a brownish tint in places on the glaze. Great collectors item from Peru. The Chimus came along just before the Incas and were defeated by the Incas but left wonderful art. Ht. 9 inches. Width and length 6 inches. This two-chambered vessel is 8-1/2" high and depicts an ancestor emerging from his tomb, carrying a deer to sustain or reward his progeny. He is adorned with a complex avian headdress, ear ornaments and striped mantle, all symbols of elite status. The whistle hidden in his hollow head has great tone and is a rare feature on Moche ceramics. Shamans communicated through ancestral mummies, which provided the link between the world of the living and the spirit world. In excellent condition.
