Museum Quality Native American Indian Mortar Stone Bowl Artifact Ultra RARE NR
One Native American Indian Mortar Grinding Bowl Artifact. Absolutely Amazing Authentic Piece! Please Review Photos Closely. I tried my best to show as many. Small details as I possibly could. Whom ever carried this used it quite a bit there is a VERY distinct indentation. Where the thumb would be when held and used. I am not sure what type of stone this is. If anyone knows for sure please message. Me and let me know. There is a very slight greenish hue in a couple spots. Leading me to believe this bowl was used to grind herbs, Or possibly pigments for dyes and paint. This is yet another specimen from a large Fossil. Artifact and mineral collection that I acquired through. An estate auction. I GUARANTEE This Bowl to be 100% Authentic! I have had it for months waiting to find the right person. Who was qualified to authenticate it. A professor ... moreat U.T. Knoxville Looked it over and Gave it the O.K. Item specifics: Composition: Stone. Weight: 10 1/2 ounces. Bowl Depth: Approx. 1 inch. Vintage early 1900's Mayan clay Museum Quality Aztec Toltec Idol God figure
Let me start by saying that this item caught my attention and I hope you see what I saw in it. This piece was picked up in an estate sale and is one of the best early 19th century Mayan sculptures made in Mexico that I've seen. The detail in the head dress and body are outstanding. Its made of clay/ terracotta and stands around 8 1/2" tall the darker shades of grey on the head dress and chest seem to be a light grey wash. The top is hollow so you can look inside to see the workmanship. I hope that someone looking for something for their collection like this will take advantage in getting their hands on this fine item. I'm not a historian or anything like that but its a very nice item and a conversation piece. Good luck any questions please email me. Thanks for looking
A PRE-COLUMBIAN TAIRONA VASE 1000 - 1500 AD - Museum Quality
A Pre Columbian Tairona Pottery Vase 1000- 1500 AD An unusually large blackware vase. The black slip is nicely burnished Beautiful in its pure simplicity. Fine Patina- Museum Quality Condition: Very Good 10 1/2" height The Tairona ceramic chronologies range from 200 BCE to 1650 CE. And the Caribbean coast of Colombia has evidence of ceramics from at least 2500 BCE. Recent investigations in Chengue, Parque Tairona by the Colombian archaeologist Alejandro Dever show significant variations in the ceramic that allow for a chronological division of sequence into at least five phases. The first phase, called Nahuange 1, appears to start at around 200 BCE and ends at around 500 CE when there appears to be a peak in the population. A second phase spans from 500 CE to about 900 CE; it can be called Nehuange 2, and was called Buritaca after detailed ... moreexcavations by Jack Wynn in the 1970s. From c. 900 CE began what is commonly called the Tairona period, characterized by an impressive increase in the variation, size and number of ceramic forms, many conserving the styles from the Nehuange or Buritaca phases. The Tairona 1 through 3 phases, from 900 to 1650, show significant local variations. This was shown by numerous works done in the 1980s by Colombian archaeologists Augusto Oyuela, Carl Langebaek, Luisa Fernanda Herrera and Ana Maria Groot, and others. During the Tairona period, the evidence for exchange increases as does the population of the entire region. The causes for this population increase are not fully known but what is evident is the robust local exchange networks that emerge at this time. GOOD LUCK AT THE AUCTION! Erotic Precolumbian sculpture, museum quality sculpture, Mexican art, Colima #65
1) What. Very rare example of erotic Precolumbian art. This is a Colima gingerbread woman. West Mexico, 1,800-2,200 yrs old, item#65. Terracotta sculpture- in a style similar to other Colima. Classic period(200 B.C. 200 A.D. flat, standing, nude females(which can be seen on the internet by searching for"Precolumbian Colima sculpture" except that this one has a huge mons and buttocks. Other features include: otherwise flat profile; small breasts; pouty. Open lips; stylized. Minimalist face; ear rings; hair in 2 buns on top of head; thick neck; broad shoulders; truncated hands and feet; and orange clay color slightly mottled from uneven heat in firing and/or age(particularly visible on the back) 2) Dimensions. 6 inches high(about 16 centimeters) 3) Condition. Mint. Pristine, museum quality. 4) Provenance. I bought this sculpture in ... more1967 from a source I trusted who I met in the home of my friend Kurt Stavenhagen in Mexico City when I was an anthropology student at the Universidad de las Americas. Kurt Stavenhagen was a Wikipedia-worthy collector of Precolumbian sculpture to whom I was introduced by Ferdinand Anton- a German anthropologist and photographer who filmed my family exploring the Maya ruins of Chichen Itza in 1964 for a movie he made for Time/ Life Magazines and German television which compared modern art. Such as Picasso and Henry Moore, with ancient art like the Maya. I also studied how to distinguish an authentic precolumbian sculpture from a fake: 1) provenance; know the source; 2) study precolumbian anthropology; see what's in the museums and the books; 3) lick. Or otherwise wet, the object and see how long it takes to dry; ancient ceramics take a long time to dry because they are more porous than new ceramics. 5) Shipping. No charge for a U.S. address.

Important Ancient Pre-Columbian Jade Beads and Pendants (51) – Museum Quality
This auction is for an important collection of Pre-Columbian jade beads. Including several pendants. The beads are arranged on the string in a graduated order, with the largest beads and pendants closer to the center of the string. This string has a total of 51 beads, 13 of which are pendants, the non-pendant beads ranging in size from 11mm to 19mm. The large disk-shaped pendant at the center is 32mm in diameter. These are museum quality beads, and I recently acquired them from a world-class local estate collection. They are as found, with two tags on the string. The newer white tag is unmarked, the old toned and torn tag(which looks to be an antique itself) has a notation in fountain pen ink on it. Since the tag is half lost, the notation is incomplete, but on it, the beads are identified as Navajo. Please see the pictures. This item will ... morebe shipped Registered Mail. And insured for the purchase price. Note on shipping time: In our area. This year we are having the most trying and challenging winter weather that I have ever seen. With this in mind, please remember that extra time is sometimes needed for the mail to move, as roads are sometimes impassible. I ship as soon as possible once payment has been made(usually before, but certainly within the 2-day window) but my control of the situation ends there.

Michael Hough Collection, ex. Terry Baxter Collection. From About.com. The term Greater Nicoya defines a Pre-Columbian cultural area that comprised the regions of Guanacaste and Nicoya in the northwestern portion of the modern Latin American countries of Costa Rica and part of the Pacific region of Nicaragua. Archaeologically. This region is part of the Intermediate Area, so defined because of its intermediate position between the Mesoamerican and South American cultural areas. In the history of Pre-Columbian archaeology. In fact, the cultural development of this region has often been treated as secondary or strictly linked to the development of"higher" civilizations of Mesoamerica or South America, rather than acknowledging an independent florescence. 2 7/8" Crocodile Effigy Pendant, Colorful Shell, Museum Quality, x Lynn Langdon
1400-2012) Crocodile Effigy Pendant made of red. Orange, and yellow colored spondylus shell. This specimen measures at 2 7/8" x 1/2" x 3/8" and has been formed by selective abrading, polishing, incising and biconically drilling to form. On the dorsal face are a pair of drilled suspension holes flanked on the lateral sides another pair of holes. On the ventral face are intricate incised lines which are heavy mineralized with alkali deposits. The eyes were formed by drilling countersinks and a distinctive snout or or nose was formed. Was found by Lynn Langdon while hunting presumably on private land in the Lake Nayarit area of West Mexico early to mid 19th century, x Hank Johnson Coll. Comes with a NWAC SOP.
1 5/8" Basketmaker Effigy Pendant, Serpentine, Museum Quality, x Lynn Langdon
1401-2012) Basketmaker Effigy Pendant/ Charm made of a heavily patinated and extremely well mineralized mottled light green. Cream, tan, white, and clear colored serpentine stone. This specimen measures approx 1 5/8" x 1 3/16" x 1 5/7/32" and has been pecked, abraded, incised, carved, and polished to form. This is an extremely intricate artifact with a high level of detail where a kneeling women carrying a burden basket secured by a trump strap is depicted. There are multiple sub carvings within the main body of the piece for example: The feet are bound and appear like the tail or crotalus of a rattlesnake; the ears have flared spools; the leather pants and leggings have criss-cross diamond patterns, again like the pattern on a rattlesnake; the top of the head and where it has a biconically drilled hole looks like a bird or ... morewolf's head. A few unconventional thoughts: May have served as a weaving implement or gauge, an atlatl weight or even a spur and possibly the maker originally considered making a pipe bowl? definitely was affixed similar as a pendant and wear patterns suggest additional possibilities for attachment. Was found by Lynn Langdon while hunting presumably on private land in the Lake Nayarit area of West Mexico early to mid 19th century, cataloged as LLL 1025(D) x Hank Johnson Coll, Good Condition with a few minor contact marks consistent with a lakebed or creek find, Museum Quality, by far one of the finest, most sophisticated, and interesting pendants I have ever seen. Comes with a copy of a write up about Lynn Langdon and a NWAC statement of provenance. Posted with

A very large Pre-Columbian Costa Rican painted tripod bowl with animorphic feet from the ancient Costa Rica/ Nicaragua region of Central America. Circa 1000 A.D. 1350 A.D. Measuring approximately 11" wide and about 9 1/2" tall, this vessel features three dramatic animorphic legs that contain rattles, as well as abstract painted designs. The bowl is finished in a cream slip with elaborate painted features in red, orange, and black. This type is specifically attributed to the Fonseca Variety of the Papagayo Polychrome type, from the Greater Nicoya region of Costa Rica/Nicaragua, Central America. Each leg is modeled in three dimensions with painted accents to depict facial features. Clay rattle balls are visible through the open mouths. The interior design. Though suffering from significant paint wear, depicts a very abstract stylized ... morefigural representation. Condition: Check out pictures they tell everything. This piece has been in my collection for over 20 years and was bought at auction. Rare Pre Columbian Michoacan Pregnant Figure Very Nice 700-100bc Museum Quality
RH1 It is not an exact science when dating archaeological discoveries but we can come very close in a lot of areas. It is believed by many discoveries Michoacán. Formally Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico has been populated for over 10,000 years! Many pieces like the one offered here from a private collection is believed to be approx. 700-100BC. An internet search and a little historical reading as well as images should bring you to the same conclusion. This piece is in very good condition and displays well as the photo show! This is 100% guaranteed an authentic antique piece and not a reproduction. I am providing each buyer with the original collector history and other information that you can keep for your records. Each piece from this collection has been packed away for over 50 years. Some in dated newspapers and old Kodak film boxes ... morewith expiration dates! The collector worked from the late 1930's to mid 1960's. If your piece was packed in any of these materials they will be included with shipment. This piece has nice original red and white dyes used when made. The right arm has an early detached repair that shows more on the back side but as photos show this piece displays very nicely! It is sometimes hard to tell if the female figures are depicting a pregnancy. It was a common theme during this period. I am leaning to this Lady as having an extended stomach area based on the line below the belly and a few other pieces I have from this collection. Just not quite as extended as the others. This figure can use a little cleaning. Due to the large amount of dyes still retained in this piece I will leave that up to you but again displays very well as an ancient artifact. The female figure is approx. 6 1/4" tall. Wearing a large red and white decorative necklace, Earrings, and red and white Head Dress where the original paint continues around the back. Unusual long hair clearly visible on the back. Photos depict true condition. I will offer free shipping and buyer pays insurance. I will ship items
