Antique MAYAN Carved Stone Figure AZTEC Carved BLACK STONE FIGURE Deity Effigy
Offered is a Mayan Aztec carved stone deity or effigy measuring approx. 7 inches in height. The figure is carved from a moderately heavy. Yet porous, piece of black stone. The figure is approx. 7 inches high and approx. 3.75 inches wide, at the elbows. The stone measures approx. ¾ to 1& 1/8 inches thick. The back of the carving has been polished to a soft luster, as have the high spots of the relief-carved figure, as shown. There is a light coat of dust over all, especially in the unpolished recessed areas of the carving. I do not know what the stone is. As already mentioned, it is black, though there are a few small areas that have a faint reddish-brown tinge. Condition is good, there being an old, glued repair to a horizontal crack running just above the knees of the figure. I purchased this carved figure in 1986 at an estate auction ... morein Saratoga County, NY. It was found, just as the previous owner had left it, tucked between two layers of cotton inside in an old chocolates box. This listing is for a Pre Columbian carved stone figure. The stone is relatively soft. And a gray color where the original surface is chipped. The statue stands on its feet, though it is in a seated or hunched position. The front surface is darker than the back. The deeper recesses have a white crystalline residue. The figure stands 5.9" tall, and weighs 27 ounces. Its in good condition save for the lighter color chips and scratches. I am fairly unfamiliar with South American artifacts, and rather than attempt to attribute it, I will let you decide what culture it came from.

I have a"rare piece" Mayan carved vase for sale. This vase has remnants of Mayan blue with deep red hematite carvings. The main symbol is depictive of an"ajaw" sign or"lord" Pseudo glyphs around the top edge. Similar pieces have been shown in publications. A sample is shown in the photo section. There is some wear as one would expect due to age and some dark spots as shown. Depicted on the vase are two seated figures each wearing a full headdress of fantastic feathers. They each have ear spots highlighted in a second color. One hand of each figure extend s palm upward. There appears to be a fire. With smoke rising in a classic Mayan design. The background has been carved away to create the raised designs of the vessel. The entire vessel is ringed both top and bottom with the same second color as the ear spot. Antique Ancient Aztec Mayan Quartz Carved Artifact Set Pottery Pendant Mexico
Ancient Pottery This auction is for a really neat set of ancient pottery pieces that were collected by a local man back in the 1950s or so when he took one of several trips to Mexico. I would imagine these were found on ancient Mayan or Aztec sights but I can’t be sure because the man has since passed away. One of them is a quartz rock carved like a face and most of it is broken off at the back. It measures about 2" tall. The other piece is some kind of lid or pendant because it has a little hole at the back. Looks like a lizard or dog or something. Measures about 1¼" tall. Both are guaranteed old and authentic so if you find out they are indeed newer you can return them. But I had them looked at by a specialist in Central American artifacts and they appear true. Pre Columbian Mayan Carved Figural Stone Vessel w/ Maya Glyphs Roatan Honduras
This piece was acquired at Coxen Hole of the Roatan Islands in Honduras from an amateur archeologist/collector who found it on the island. I met him while on vacation and struck up a conversation about antiques and from there. Was invited to his humble home to view his collection which he personally found on the island over a period of about 50 years, since he was a kid playing in the jungles. I had the opportunity to purchase a small part of this collection which I will be listing here on Ebay. This auction is for an absolutely stunning. Beautifully carved, porous, most likely stone) vessel with several human abstract figures including what are probably Mayan Glyphs. I originally had it listed as terracotta and am not 100%sure it is not. From the heavy weighs and thickness and with additional research, I am leaning towards the side that ... moreit is stone. It measures about 6" at its widest, stands over 4" tall and is very heavy weighing at least 3.50 lbs. The bottom is at least 1.50" thick. On the highest side, you can see where the vessel curves inward leading me to believe that it may have been a type of jar that may have had a lid. Throughout the entire piece. There is an encrustation of original hardened dirt that has perhaps, oxidized somewhat. I took a closer photo of it to help with its identification. I wish I could tell you more about it but this is not my area of collecting at all.
