A Pre-Columbian Colima Mask, Comala Type, Protoclassic ca. 100 B.C. to A.D.
A Pre-Columbian Colima Mask. Comala Type, Protoclassic ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250. This sculpture of a Colima mask of convex form. With typical shamanistic head cap in relief, dating to the Protoclassic Period of the West Mexican sculptural tradition, ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250, displays an open mouth, a hooked nose, a raised, but rounded point on each cheek, and round, pierced-through eyes. There is a drill hole on each side of the mask at near eye level. The reverse side is concave. The size is smaller than most Colima masks, so may have been created for a child or small dwarf. The red-to-reddish brown slip exhibits ancient encrustations combined with traces of manganese oxide deposits. FSA:EA Please see: Sculpture of Ancient West Mexico. Authentic Antique Day of Dead Mask Ceremonial Colonial Wood Carnival Mexico RARE
Painted mask from the time of Mexican independence before 1900 and wonderful collector’s piece of history! After independence from the Spaniards. There was a slight strengthening of the indigenous population, which prevailed in the holy festivals. Now, the indigenous fell not completely back to their old rituals, it was too long, the influence by the Catholic Church. There was a mix of old and new faith. Formerly hostile tribes and warriors were imitated and provoked; now it was the Spaniards themselves, the Spanish character and especially her looks were shown greatly exaggerated and distorted in part, and this was also characterized in these masks off. Even today you can see in some cities and towns. For example, on this Day of the Dead customs in Central America. Where it is not uncommon to brutal intermediate shocks. This screen shows ... moreall the indigenous people has not. A long bright pink face. Light curls indicated( probably part of a wig) Big brows, especially bright red wide lips. Comic slit-like eyes with haughty look and of course the long nose( long- nose" was a typical dirty word) All traits wonderfully exaggerated. For me: an authentic and great link between the old and modern faith; and a sign of the still ongoing meeting as very different cultures. Condition and size: 11 x 7 1/2 inch, age-related small voids and small crashes. Color changes, small holes. Small break offs, otherwise good. The pictures give a good impression of the state. Very well bidding! I prefer paypal outside European Union! I send only a box with insurance. It possible its works 2-3 weeks from Germany to the states(tracking incl. The importance of the rocks and minerals in Mesoamerica lay not only in applications that were given but that in many cases they are ... morerelated to the Universo.Entre the long list of minerals and stones used Mesoamerican peoples. Stands the jade, which is a green or blue-green stone. It was regarded as a symbol of life and more valued than gold. When Hernán Cortés ordered Moctezuma to hand over their most prized possessions. To his frustration, he received no gold, but jade, because for the Mexican prehispanic jade was considered more valuable than gold. In pre-Hispanic Mexico. Jade was the stone on which were concentrated maximum divine forces. Stone is the life and life-giving, because he identifies with water, with vegetation, with the sun and sustenance. No other has its sacredness, no grants greater protection. The jade was used for several purposes: ornamental. Funeral, utility, therapeutic and ritual. The value of this stone was not only physical. On the blue-green, which is the water, the jade was the representation of the goddess of water, Chalchiuhtlicue, which has its chalchihuites skirt" The Olmecs were rubbing the abdomen with a jade stone called" yjada stone" because they believed that in this way could be kidney disease. Rare Pre Columbian Ecuador Chone pottery, terracota, artifact, relic mask
This is an authentic wonderful rugged looking mask from the Chone culture of Ecuador. It has a COA from Renman Gallery to come with piece. It has been part of a larger clay work or sculpture and you can see where it has broken away in places. The face was repaired and the line gives the appearance of a scar. It may be a warrior a god figure. The mouth seems to have fangs. The man had ear spools but one is missing. Despite all it remains a dramatic mask with emotion and a wonderful collector piece especially for the unusual item not often seen. Don't wear this on Halloween or at a teen horror movie. A wonderful art piece. It continues to amaze and catch my eye. Ca 500BC-500 AD Provenance Renman Gallery Approx. 7 inches wide and tall and 1/2 inch wide. Pre Columbian vintage mask handmade Peru, inca God, pottery artifact relic
Great decorative piece made in mid 1900s in Peru by a Peruvian artisan. Likely Inca descendant. Has a loop on back to hang. Last photo is rear side not blotched pic. This is an Inca God. Wonderful copper masks were made by the Incas among other cultures with great intricacy. This has Silver eyes but I am not sure if plated. It's good fun item to add an Incan feeling in a home with Latin decor. Uncommon item and one of a kind handmade. Good pre Columbian artifact replica of mask. It has"Peru" stamped on back of it. Olmec Mask in Green Stone Modern but Nicely Done
This is a modern version of the Olmec culture's royal burial mask. The Olmec are to some extent looked on as the mother culture of the Maya. This has the kind of graining that one sees in Central American jade. However I'm going to call it archaeological jade. Which I guess means any green stone resembling jade and let you decide. The mask depicts the transformation of the royal or shaman into what is sometimes called a were. It is eight inches tall and six and a half inches wide. The ears are pierced and there are two piercings at the sides of the head for fastening to the deceased. there are shallow drill marks to the nose and to each side of the mouth. The eyes and the mouth look like the way the originals did prior to insetting with stone and shell eyes and teeth although that is more common in the work of the Teotihuacanos of ... morecentral Mexico. Another culture whose influence spread over large parts of Mexico and Central America Of course now the holes at the sides of the head just makes for easy hanging if you so choose. It is thick but seems heavy even for stone. It weighs nearly four pounds. This seems much better done than some of the tourist things and may have been for a museum shop where they would take care to make it more realistic. I will only accept bids from the United States. Please ask questions and request more pictures before you bid. There is a 14 day return privilege with the shipping paid by the buyer. Since I have stated that it isn't a genuine artifact and it may or may not be jade I won't accept a return on the basis if significant error in the description.

Pre-Columbian MEZCALA STONE PECTORAL MASK w/ROGERS COA
Here is a superb. Museum-quality carved stone mask of abstract form. This remarkable artifact is 4.5” 11.4cm) x 3.25” 8.2cm) x 2” 5 cm) unmounted and 5.5” 14cm) overall height. Mounted on a custom-built display stand. There are two small inscriptions; 1515” and“Guerrero” written in black ink on the reverse. Massive Precolumbian Inlaid and Carved Spondylus Shell Mask, Central America
I'm liquidating my 40 years of collections; it's time to make room for retirement. This is a lovely carved and inlaid shell. With blue eyes, pink ear plugs on each ear, teeth carved from shell and an elaborate carved headdress with blue and green accent inlaid shell disks. Unusual and interesting; a nice addition to any collection. It is 6 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches across. The base has been cut so that it can stand upright. The inlaid rounds are all about 1/2 inch in diameter. There is a crack starting at the base, but it ends about 2/3 of the way up the shell. I cannot find a repair, so perhaps a stress fracture. The starting bid is low. Satisfaction is guaranteed, so bid with confidence. Priority shipping will be $7.95. Payment is due within seven days of the end of the auction. I will always combine items to reduce shipping ... morecosts. Thanks for looking. Spondylus shells were more valuable to their cultures than gold. And were used routinely in their economy for trade. This type of shell was difficult to obtain for the ancients, as it is a deep water species found primarily off the coast of Ecuador. Maya. Late Classic period(AD 600-800) From Mexico. This ornament is made of spondylus princeps. The red-rimmed thorny oyster which was widely used in the Americas to fashion beads, pendants and other ornaments. Spondylus shells also have been found among the élite objects found in the rich burial of an important ruler of Tikal, underneath Temple I. In the same tomb, marine shells were set on the fringes of a mat(since decayed) placed under his body. Spondylus shells have been found in caches throughout the Maya area since the Late Preclassic period(250 BC- AD 250) for example in Belize, at the sites of Nohmul, Pomona and Cerros. Similar ornaments are depicted on mural paintings at Bonampack. A Maya site in t

Mummy mask wood Huari pre-columbian
Pre-Columbian. Central Coast Peru, Huari culture, ca. 700-1000 A.D wood mask with patination. It may represent a living person of rank, an honorary portrayal of a deceased person used to accompany a mummy bundle, or an ancestor. Ancestor veneration would become a significant part of Huari religious practice The wide-eyed expression is similar to visages depicted on Huari ceramic vessels. The Huari culture began to develop during the late Moche era. The Huari culture, centered on a capital to the south of Moche territory in the central highlands of Peru, rose as the Moche culture fell apart and before the Chimu asserted themselves on the north coast. They had extensive contact with other regions in the Andes, most notably the Tiahuanaco in present-day Bolivia, and the Nazca and the Pachacamac on the south and central coast of Peru. Hence there ... moreis no homogenous Huari style. size: 9" inches

Hand Carved Native American Wood MASK Northwest Bird Man Painted Vintage 12"x8"
This item will be sold and shipped to US only. International bidders email before bidding to see if I can ship to your country and shipping methods and prices. This was purchased in Utah in the 1990's at a Pawn Shop where I purchased several Native American item. I am selling my collection as my children show no interest in collecting. Hand Carved Native American Wood Mask. About 12" long at longest x 8" wide at widest I was told this was a Northwest Coast Native Americn Mask. But I don't know for sure, you decide. It looks to me like a Man/Bird mask. It is painted and paint is worn in a few places. Like between eyebrows, as can be seen in pics. Mask paint is a grey(almost a blueish gray) with red. Yellow, orange and black paint for details. see pic It has 3 holes bored in it that I assume is how it was attached with leather ... morethongs to wear and top hole had been cracked and glued and was like this when I got it. Also a line crack below beak near bottom of mask and at side of beak(not sure line crack at beak is crack or made that way) as show in next to last pic. Also same type of crack on other side of beak as shown in last pic. These are the worst of the line cracks I see. I don't know what kind of wood it is. Old mask so look at pics that will best show condition and I will try to answer question. Comes from smoke free home. g63.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3Eg63-14b454a47c0-0x108-
