This is a gorgeous. Hand signed, hand carved, mother of pearl antique quill pen. The date of 1903 is incised, possibly burnt then painted over with black paint, into the end of the holder. It has beautiful hand carving. It has a solid brass piece for holding the quill(feather) The brass piece is crimped to accept the feather. Which was rounded on the end to fit the particular piece made. Sorry, I do not have the feather for this. This piece is in excellent condition. With no chips, nicks, cracks, etc. You can feel the ridges where it was hand cut, but it is supposed to be like that from the style being carved into the mother of pearl. The metal piece on the end is solid brass. It is slightly discolored on the end where the feather went in. This is commensurate with age and could possibly be cleaned, but that is the buyer's choice. THe ... moreend opposite the brass end, has been filed down to a somewhat sharp end, which would have doubled as an envelope opener. The piece measures 6 3/4 from end to end. The mother of pearl part measures 4 1/2 inches. Making the brass fitting approx. 2 1/4 inches.This would be a great piece for the pen collector, antique collector and anybody who appreciated a fine piece of art. It is hard to date the piece with any precision, but I would estimate it to be at least 800- 1200 years old. One of the figures has a pelican-like face, with a crocodile back. The figure merges into another with a turtle-like face above the bust of a man. Unlike pottery figures, carved stone pieces are quite uncommon. The carving measures 6.5" wide. 5" tall, and 2" deep. This is the third of three pairs of stirrups I bought in La Paz Bolivia a number of years ago. IT WAS AN ADVENTURE, BELIEVE ME! You see. It was the weekend and I was bored. So I started out from the hotel in pursuit of small treasures I could bring home. I was thinking coins, stamps, certificates for Land Grants from the King.things like that. Well, I met this tiny little fellow that had super blue eyes and a weird hat. After he told me he had just sold his last Land Grant he asked if I would be willing to walk a few blocks to see his hidden treasure trove. It wasn't raining and he only came up to my belly button so I said sure, why not. Off we went and boy could that little rascal walk. Everyone is out of breathe in La Paz ... morebecause of the altitude but when we got to this garage-like structure I was sure I'd never recover. He told me to wait outside while he turned on the lights. I was praying for a power failure. But when he came back I had recovered both my breathe and dignity so I was ready to venture on in. Talk about cobwebs and dust.this place had never been cleaned. And it was choked full of old furniture. Lamps, paintings and small art items. While the heart and bank account were willing the common sense factor said small, small, small because whatever I bought had to go on the plane. I hate common sense. But that is what I followed so these stirrups are part of the loot I could get in the suitcase. They measure 8" toe to heel and about 7" tall. These are a bit wider. They are wrapped with a metal band that would have attached to the leather strap that would have come from the saddle. I know all this from watching Cowgirl Rodeo. How old are they. I'm 70 and they have more wrinkles than I do so I figure they are a century or two back. Pre-Columbian Carved Stone Bird Whistle – Hand Carved from Petrified Wood
This pre-Columbian bird whistle was hand carved from a piece of petrified wood(fossilized wood) The piece was made so that the growth rings appear at the position of the bird’s wing on one side. Wood grain can be seen all over the piece. And tool marks are clearly visible as well. The whistle measures 2” long, and is about 5/8” in diameter. The piece is in excellent condition, with no breaks or repairs. It is a lovely and rare piece, and you are not likely to see another like this. Hand Carved Native American Wood MASK Northwest Bird Man Painted Vintage 12"x8"

This was purchased in Utah in the 1990's at a Pawn Shop where I purchased several Native American item. I am selling my collection as my children show no interest in collecting. Hand Carved Native American Wood Mask. About 12" long at longest x 8" wide at widest I was told this was a Northwest Coast Native Americn Mask. But I don't know for sure, you decide. It looks to me like a Man/Bird mask. It is painted and paint is worn in a few places. Like between eyebrows, as can be seen in pics. Mask paint is a grey(almost a blueish gray) with red. Yellow, orange and black paint for details. see pic It has 3 holes bored in it that I assume is how it was attached with leather ... morethongs to wear and top hole had been cracked and glued and was like this when I got it. Also a line crack below beak near bottom of mask and at side of beak(not sure line crack at beak is crack or made that way) as show in next to last pic. Also same type of crack on other side of beak as shown in last pic. These are the worst of the line cracks I see. I don't know what kind of wood it is. Old mask so look at pics that will best show condition and I will try to answer question.
