Apparently missing the very top part. The figure is broken and reglued as the photos show. Had I the time I'd enjoy restoring it. But that must be left for the next owner. The second. A low flattened bowl about 5" x 3 3/8" appears to have no restoration other than a very small rim chip reglued and a breaking wave design incised around the top and dark brown burnished surface. It is a seated man with a headdress in a flower like design. I think he is a priest. He sits spread eagled wide open legs. His fingers and toes are nubs. He has dotted“tattoo” marks on his chest arms legs and waist. He was made with a hole in the middle of his back, it is not a break. There are no cracks. It is a fat rotund HEAD Vessel attributed to the Moche Civilization during the late classic period. 700AD-850AD. It came from a pre WWII dig and has been off the market until now. The piece shows a head at the top in a very strange expression. Almost like he is in pain. He has a very flat head and piercing eyes his mouth is either smirking or showing stress. His ears pop out the sides of his head. There is a tiny hole in the neck and it looks like a tracheotomy to me, maybe that’s why he ... moreis in pain? In his belly is a wide mouth to fill the vessel with water or blood or whatever this was used for. The front is all red and the reverse seems white, but it could just be the dirt that has adhered to the surface causing the whitish look.
