Beatuiful example of a vintage folk art specific to the Kuna Natives of the San Blas Islands off the Atlantic roast of Central Panama. This Mola. Is an example of the creative back stitching decoration of cloth pieces specific to these Natives for many years. The Kunas live on a collection of over 350 small Islands a boat ride off the Atlantic coast of Panama. This has now become a world wide collectible art work that has gone on unchanged. El Paso Texas Antique Calligraphy, Folk Art, 1800s
The item shown was an Estate find some time ago. When I bought it. I was told by the family member holding the sale that all they knew for certain was that the decorated calligraphy was framed in the 1920s in El Paso. I have no idea how old the framed piece is, but an appraiser told me it was possibly from the 1800s. it has enriched our home for several years- sadly some unexpected events necessitate its sale. I'm going to list it at what I paid for it, which at the time I thought was a steal. The backing is the original, an indicator of its age, and how well the glass has protected it.

It looks to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's. although I am not an expert. This is one of the most unique early hand made dulcimers I have ever seen.
