This is a great Pre Columbian pottery artifact that was part of a larger piece. It appears to be a deity or warrior face but I am not certain. It is Pre ... moreColumbian Mayan or Aztec but I can't tell precisely. It is Mesoamerican. For a small item it has a lot of detail and it can draw you to its stare. Purchased from an antiquities boutique that obtained it from the private collection of an archeologist. A very cute piece and nice art for size. The pictures show it a little more of a yellow hue than it is. Culture: Mesoamerican. Aztec, Mayan, Other Mexican culture. CA: approximately 500-1500aD estimate Size 2 1/2 inches tall Provenance: private archeologist Authenticity with lifetime guarantee by Inca Treasures LTD. See my photos and contact with questions. COLIMA, Mexico Pre Columbian Pottery Male Figure with Skin Lesions 400-800 A. D.
This is a primitive piece of pottery made in Colima. Mexico circa 400-800 A.D. It is mounted on a wooden pedestal that gives the information about the piece and the back is an advertisement for Valisone Cream. This looks prehistoric and I believe it to be an authentic piece. The ad had me concerned, but the owner of this piece is a retired Archaeologist, so I now feel comfortable again calling this pottery piece an authentic primitive piece from Colima, Mexico. It measures 2.75" x 4.5" and is in great condition. See pictures for details and please contact me with any questions. 1150 14th#18

Pre-Columbian Mexico AZTEC ALIEN-LIKE Clay Figure Head !
SquareTrade © AP6.0 Here's a very odd Pre-Columbian AZTEC TEOTIHUACAN"ALIEN-LIKE" HUMAN? FIGURE HEAD(ca. 700-1100 AD) from near the famous Teotihuacan Pyramids in Mexico's Central Highlands. It's 1 5/8 in. 4.2cm) high. 1 5/8 in. 4.2cm) wide and 3/4 in. 2.0cm) thick. It has oddly defined features which look much like those of the alien creatures often associated with the so-called flying saucer crash in"Area 51" in Nevada many years ago. Is it possible aliens from another world visited the Aztecs many years ago? Not likely, but I must admit this is one of the strangest clay figure heads I've handled in the past 60 years! I'll let the buyer be the judge. These heads were once on full human clay figures but were broken off and cast into the fields to ensure crop fertility. It's made of fired reddish/tan ... moreclay and in fair condition. My Feedback Profile and eBay preferred seller reputation attest to my integrity and honesty. The authenticity of my artifacts and relics is guaranteed for life, OR YOUR MONEY BACK! Buyer pays $3.00 S/H. Shipping charges to foreign buyers may be greater. No reserve. Good luck!

FERTILITY HEAD/FEMALE FIGURE, CHUPICUARO PRE-COLUMBIAN, WESTERN MEXICO
FERTILITY HEAD/FEMALE FIGURE. CHUPICUARO PRE-COLUMBIAN. WESTERN MEXICO Length: 2 1/2" Width: 1 3/4" Thick: 1/2" Weight: 8 oz This Pre-Columbian Female Fertility Effigy comes from the Mexican state of Jalisco. It was part of a major 19th century collection assembled by an American banker. The ancient Chupicuaro devoted their time and skills to creating pottery figurines. And other small artifacts. Characteristically flat. Chupícuaro human figurines can also be realistically three dimensional or shaped into vessels. They are distinguished by their slanted, coffee-bean shaped eyes. The figurines are typically depicted as female, indicated by a part in the center of the hair or headdress, and can be fashioned with intricately molded clay clothing and jewelry. Most figurines were left unpainted, but occasionally some were decorated ... morewith bright colors. Hundreds of years later, the remnants of red paint can still be seen on some of their faces and jewelry. This artifact was used to promote fertility among the ancients. Typically it was nightly placed atop the female womb with the requisite prayers and rituals. While broken from a larger piece. This artifact maintains the paint integrity and the remarkable detail of the Chupicuaro culture. On Aug-06-13 at 21:26:33 PDT. Seller added the following information: Posted with

Archeological evidence dates human occupation of the area as far back as 1500 BCE. With sites here contemporary with San Lorenzo on the Gulf Coast and Tlatilco in the Valley of Mexico. One period of the area’s development is called the Los Ortices ... moreera which began around 500 BCE. During this time the elements which characterize the pre-Hispanic peoples of Colima appear such as shaft tombs and a distinctive ceramic style called“rojo bruñido” or burnished red. The next phase called Comala, covers the time period from around 100 to 600 CE, centered on a site of the same name. Comala people would perfect burnished red pottery and develop representations of people and animals with skill and fluid lines. The best known of these figures are known as the“fattened dogs” The Comala site shows influence from Teotihuacan. Around 500 CE, another site in Armería developed along the river of the same name. The Chanal site was active from the 6th to the 15th centuries and was the main culture for the Colima area. Belonging to this culture was a number of smaller sites and most of the ones known and explored to date. After Chanal the largest related site is La Campana but most contain pyramidal bases and plazas with structures often containing rounded edges. Images of Huehueteotl and Tlaloc appear with this culture. Which may indicate the origins of the cultures that ultimately settled central Mexico. There is one other site call

PRE COLUMBIAN FIGURE MEXICO FEMALE POTTERY CLAY 7 INCHES AUTHENTIC ANCIENT
PRE COLUMBIAN FEMALE FIGURE POTTERY MEXICO AUTHENTIC ANCIENT This Mexican Pre Columbian pottery female figure is 7 inches high and is possibly a variant of Jalisco or Nayarit but I am not an expert and cannot be sure of the culture. It will not stand by itself and is supported for the photos. Iti s missing an arm. Lower leg and foot and another foot. or whatever it had at the ends of the legs) The arm is complete with no hand just a rounded structure. Ears and nose are abnormally large with the head sloping backwards at an angle. Minute reflective crystaline structures in the clay and dark areas that seem to be manganese deposits. There is a slight chip on the back of the head. This is an authentic figure and not a reproduction and I have had it for over 40 years. Figure would look well mounted and standing upright.

Pre-Columbian Nayarit Warrior Figure, West Mexico
Pre-Columbian Nayarit Warrior Figure. West Mexico Click on these links to view larger photos: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6 A Pre-Columbian warrior figure from the ancient region of Nayarit. West Mexico, circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This Ixtlan Del Rio type measures approximately 4 1/2" tall by about 3 1/2" wide, and depicts a seated warrior. Because some figures of this type are seated. Which is an impractical position for someone engaged in physical combat, some scholars suggest that these figures more likely represent shamans engaged in spiritual, rather than physical, warfare. Ethnographic data also supports this theory, since these figures are almost always facing left- the direction inhabitants of the region believe is symbolically associated with malevolent spirits or misfortune. He is shown holding a staff or club in an offensive position, ... morelooking slightly toward his left, perhaps engaged in shamanic, spiritual battle with unseen forces. His face bears a fierce expression, mouth shaped as if vocalizing or blowing. He is also wearing ear and nose ornaments, a pointed hat or helmet, and a shield on his back. Interestingly, the surface of the shield is dimensionally patterned with raised areas similar to that of a turtle shell. Such objects were created exclusively to accompany the deceased in the deep shaft and chamber tombs for which the ancient cultures of this region are known. Condition: Intact overall. With restoration to very minor loss at the lower tip of the staff and to the bottom of one foot. Some chipping and minor loss at the top of the hat. Otherwise, expected weathering, wear, chipping and abrasions overall. Sediment, mineral and Manganese deposits remain, attesting to the age and authenticity of this example. Provenance: Former C. Thomas private collection. Florida, USA. Assurance of Authenticity: All items offered by Riverbend Gallery have been carefully examined and deemed authentic and ancient. For added assurance. A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY will be included for each applicable purchase. Fully
Nayarit Seated Figure with Bowl, Pre-Columbian West Mexico
Pre-Columbian Nayarit Seated Figure with Bowl Click on these links to view larger photos: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5 A Pre-Columbian seated figure from the ancient Nayarit region of West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. Measures approximately 7 3/4" tall. This figure is aesthetically appealing due to it's subtle, abstract form and restrained features. It depicts a seated female holding a bowl in her lap. Perhaps suggesting a relationship to the production of the alcoholic beverage, Pulque, known from these ancient regions. Production of Pulque was an important symbol of status within this ancient culture. She is shown wearing a large nose ornament, arm ornaments, ear ornaments and a headband-like head dressing- all also indicative of significant social status. Condition: Intact and in excellent original condition overall. With only minor restoration ... moreto part of one arm. The original surface decoration is mostly obscured now by heavy Manganese and other mineral deposits, which are evidence of thousands of years of burial in the Shaft Tomb environment. Provenance: Former North Carolina. USA collection. Assurance of Authenticity: All items offered by Riverbend Gallery have been carefully examined and deemed authentic and ancient. For added assurance. A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY will be included for each applicable purchase. Fully guaranteeing the item to be ancient and genuine. Our Commitment: Riverbend Gallery endeavors to be a preferred source of authentic. Legally-obtained antiquities, artifacts and works of art. Pre-Columbian ceramic fertility figure; Michoacan-Mexico, 2000 plus years old!
Pre-Columbian ceramic fertility figure Morelia. Michoacan-Mexico undetermined age Here's a rare and unusual archeological item: a ceramic fertility figure stated to be from the city of Morelia in the Michoacan state of Mexico from the Tarascan Indians in the area. Michoacan is the state just west of Mexico City. The figure has been mounted to a wooden-framed crushed velvet-covered board with this label on the back: Morelia. Michoacan-Mexico A Tarascan Indian fertility symbol. Attested to be between 2 and 3 thou- sand years old. Research on this says that archaic hunter-gatherers throughout Mesoamerica had progressed to simple farming societies by 1000 BCE. They had at least a Neolithic level of knowledge about ceramics. So producing something like this was not impossible. However, the Tarascan Indians did not arrive in the Guayangareo ... moreValley(where Morelia is) until the 12th century- still 400 years before the Spanish conquest of that area. So more realistically, this could have been made by archaic peoples from that valley, instead of by the Tarascan Indians that came centuries later. Or, alternatively, it could have been made by the Tarascan's ancestors and simply brought along with them by the shaman when they migrated(powerful totems and symbols would be passed on to future generations) Impossible to tell either way. The figure does have an archaic look to it. Not as sophisticated as the ceramics of the later Mesoamerican cultures. It is anthropomorphic and definitely female-inspired, with the added necklace and stylized breasts. The head has stylized hair and large earrings. It looks like at one time there may have been more to the nose area- hard to tell. It does have a nice general patina commensurate with something purportedly that old. There seems to be residual reddish pigment under part of the necklace, so it may at one time had a painted exterior. There is a significant chip out of the top of the head, and one off the end of the left arm, along with a small chip off the end of the left leg. The
