PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT ECUADOR Very unusual authentic pottery head fragment that is difficult to identify as to the subject. It apprears ... moreto be an animal with a long snout. Some of which is missing, and the remains of two horns on the back of the head. Since it is wearing a rather ornate headdress it might be an zoomorphic representation of a Shaman but there is not enough of the figure to make any kind of distinction. The headress has the remains of red paint and there are pieces missing. The cheeks are puffed out, some of the figures have puffed heeks attributed to chewing of coca leaves but that is doubtful for an animal and possible or a Shaman. The clay color is mottled grayish tan. Some fine crystaline deposits evident in the clay. One cheek is depressed as it it were done before firing or collapsed after firing as it is not broken. There is a small firing hole at the top of the head and the head is hollow. It is 2 3/4 inches high and 2 3/4 inches across the front. The base where it is broken is a circle 1 3/4 inches in diameter with a hole that is 3/4 inches in diameter. It will sit flat as it is in most of the photographs or will mount nicely. It was in a private collection from Eccuador with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments but since I am not an expert I cannot positively identify the culture or the exact age. These two cultures span from 300 B.C. to 1000 A.D. This is not a reproduction.

Pre-Columbian group of 3, yes, 3 Peruvian pieces. Guaranteed .Authentic
3 Peruvian pieces. The first. A seated figure is 6-3/4" tall, with a red burnished slip. The broken off spout would add about 1-3/4" more. The spout part is not complete. Apparently missing the very top part. The figure is broken and reglued as the photos show. Had I the time I'd enjoy restoring it. But that must be left for the next owner. The second. A low flattened bowl about 5" x 3 3/8" appears to have no restoration other than a very small rim chip reglued and a breaking wave design incised around the top and dark brown burnished surface. The third has a globular body with a tall. Thick spout with linear designs and many small, circular incisions. Height is approximately 5-1/4" and about 4" wide. The first bowl is late Mochica; and I'm afraid there isn't enough information to know the cultures ... moreof the second two. The Lands Beyond is a 45 year old brick and mortar Pre-Columbian gallery. Rare CLAY HEAD with Torso Figural pre Columbian Authentic ARTIFACT See***
Here is a small ceramic artifact. From an old private collection. This collection has been in the US from 1962. And we are proud to be offering this item for sale, at this time. Measures: Under 2 inches in height. And just over 1. 60 inches at its w idest part. We think it comes from an area of Mexico. Like Colima. Or Nayarit state, but with the turban, wrapped on his head. We may be looking at an early Clay arti fact from Southeast or South Asia. In fact. So the exact origin of this small piece is unknown. But something about the Ear plugs. And small bo w( BIT of jewellry) at the neck. Makes us gravitate towards Asia in its origin. We are quite sure it is pre Columbi an in age. In other words, at least 700 years old, or much earlier. May easily date to the BC period. But we have not had it scientifically tested. these wer e most freque ntly ... morediscove red in groupings. And people used to collect them. Most are in Public Museums, on di splay. Some ar e still floating about. In private collections. A rare find, and adorable. Should be mounted for a nicer display. Happy to take it back. I f you do not love it. SAD to let it go. But that's just how it is. Happy Springtime and finding, and Thank you, for looking. And your consideration. I purchased a large lot of pottery in a high-end auction. And these three pieces of Pre-Columbian pottery were included in it. A very old auction label on the bottom of one of the pieces identifies these as Jalisco. The vase in this lot has red painted details and is 4.5 inches tall. With an opening at the top of 3.5 inches in diameter. It is a beautiful piece but does have a chip on the top rim, which is shown in photos. There are also two very old labels on the bottom, which can be removed by the buyer if desired. The small bowl here is 4.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. It has beautiful firing marks. Although it too has chips, shown in photos. The large platter/bowl is 9.5 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Again. Nice firing marks and overall a great looking piece. I am not a collector of this specific type of pottery. So please ... moreemail me if you have any questions I have not answered here. I am happy to reply. Happy bidding!
LOT 3 AUTHENTIC PRE COLUMBIAN PERUVIAN POTTERY ARTIFACTS 3 STATUES
Sometimes I see very rare and special antiquities collected by old Charleston families going through our local high end estate sales and such is the case with these three marvelous ancient pre Columbian Peruvian pottery figures. These terrific antique clay figures measure 4.75 inches tall by 4.5 inches long; 4.5 inches tall by 4 inches long; and 3 inches tall by inches long. Respectively. I've included numerous pictures in an attempt to accurately represent their design, quality, condition and overall beauty. Though I am not an expert in pre Columbian artifacts. It's very clear this wonderful group of ancient pottery figures are quite special and not something easy to come by. When they came to the auction where they sold, all that was known is that they had been in the grandfather's collections going back to the early 1900's ... morebut no other specific information as to whom or how they were originally obtained was provided, though it was clearly long ago and many years prior to any regulations limiting export so such historically relevant pieces by collectors and tourists. The only information with the figures was a hand written note stating they were of the pre Columbian Chimu culture, Peru 900-1470. To ship these incredible ancient collectibles. I would require they shipped via signature service UPS or USPS, fully insured for selling price. I am willing to sell and ship these artifacts internationally however I would require they be shipped via Priority Express International(USPS)with signature service at delivery and as well as buyer assuming all in country taxes and fees upon arrival. Certainly museum quality. This group of three Peruvian pre Columbian figures is certainly a rare and special find and I hope they find a very special home, whether museum or personal collection, where they will be loved and appreciated for their beauty and historical value. Please do visit my ebay store to see the wide variety of other fine antique and vintage collectibles I have available through separate auctions i

LOT 2 AUTHENTIC 23" TALL PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY FUNERAL URNS ARGENTINA ARTIFACT
Sometimes we get really lucky here in old Charleston. SC and see very rare and special antiquities collected by families going back many generations come through our local high end estate auctions. This is the case with this amazing set of 2 terrific 23 inch tall funerary urns, circa 1000-1400 A.D. These urns measure about 15 3/4 inches across their widest points. They are most similar in my research to those found in the Archeaological Museum of Andalgala, province of Catamarca, Argentina and attributed to the Santamariana culture. They describe this as urns used primarily for the burial of babies who died in the seventh moth of pregnancy due to a lack of iodine. Others of these funeral urns contained the remains of human sacrifices performed during important natural disasters such as droughts or floods. In such occasions persons offered ... moretheir most precious belongings to their gods and these sacrifices could go to the extreme of scarifying, and eventually sacrificing. A child. In further research as I understand it. The Santamariana culture of those of the Calchaqui tribe are among those referred to as the Daiguita peoples. According to a Chilean tourism website, this ancient Amerindian people were settled over the southern part of the American continent. In the areas of Catamarca and La Rioja in Argentina and the region between the Copiapó and Choapa Rivers in Chile. They are frequently mentioned as being of the same culture as the Calchaquíes, since the two peoples shared the same cultural space. The two tribes share their agricultural base. The types of their villages and dwellings, and their industries, socio-political structure and beliefs, strongly influenced by Pan Andean substrates. They were prolific producers of ceramics, in particular they left an abundance of highly characteristic funeral urns, round-bodied and flat based, with scalloped edges and small looped handles, and decorated with cream, ochre, brown and black paint. These were used to preserve bodies, thought to belong to sacrificed

Authentic PRE-COLUMBIAN 100% ORIG JAGUAR EFFIGY VESSEL PRECLASSIC - AACA
PRE-COLUMBIAN 100% ORIG JAGUAR EFFIGY VESSEL PRECLASSIC This is a beautiful Pre-Columbian Jaguar Effigy terracotta or pottery Vessel that I believe to be from Pre-Classic Costa Rica. It is approximately 2 1/4" tall. 3 1/2" long and 1 3/4" across the bowl. It is in excellent condition with a nice earthen patina and no repairs. The photos describe the item better than I so please look closely. I will be more than happy to provide additional photos on request. PROVENANCE: All of the Pre-Columbian items I have listed were dug or obtained in the 1950's or very early 1960's by a Memphis Dr. while he and his wife were on one of their many expeditions to Central. South America and Mexico. I personally knew this Dr. his wife and their son for over forty years and will be listing many of the Pre-Columbian items he and his wife ... moreobtained while on their many trips to dig. I am a member in good standing of the AACA(Authentic Artifact Collectors Association) and I guaranty all my items to be Authentic and Original. I offer a 14 day unconditional return policy.
