Pre Columbian Jalisco, brown ware pottery warrior artifact, relic, Have COA
This is a wonderful brown ware piece from the Jalisco Culture in Western Mexico. A seated dead warrior figure in death. The helmet says he is a warrior and the death bubble in his mouth indicates he is dead in some great beyond. A difficult piece to find it is a classic with smooth lines looking almost as though it were sculpted than moulded from brown ware pottery. Good condition. No cracks. Collector's dream CA 200 BC to 200AD Ht. 12 inches. Wides 10 inches, depth 7-8 inches. A really heavy boy! Provenance purchased from Artemis Gallery. Colorado, experts in pre Columbian art and antiquities. COA available on request with purchase.

Pre Columbian Mayan pottery rattle, ritual, artifact, relic art COA
Really cute rare authentic Pre Columbian Mayan pottery artifact ceremonial or ritual rattle. Stand goes with it. This Mayan piece is nicely proportioned and a cute artistic artifact. Pre Columbian cultures often used music with strings. Flutes, rattles, and rattle vessels in rituals and ceremonies and the Mayans too. I am not sure if the rattles might also be placed in tombs to scare away bad spirits. They would be shaken for sound. There are lots of Pre Columbian pottery flutes around but not many of these rattles. Some minor surface scratching on pottery with some white spots. Purchased from Artemis Gallery. Dealers in ancient and pre Columbian art, and COA available on request. Great piece for conversation and it works. I am sure not meant as baby rattle but more as later maracas for rhythmic music or to ward off spirits in ceremonies ... moreor in burials. Ht. 5 inches. Width is 1 inch. A little guy but unusual and will enhance a collection. Culture Mayan CA 500 AD Provenance Artemis Gallery dealer in antiquities and having an auction coming in March. Pre Columbian Chancay death rattle pottery, artifact, relic, art, COA
Rare Chancay artifact of a woman on death rattle ceremonial piece. From central Costa Rican culture and used in death rituals. It rattles when shaken. Good paint and comes with its own stand. Authentic piece comes with COA if requested. I bought this from Artemis Gallery who sell and deal in antiquities. Authentic item. It's something I have not seen before. It is rather rough hewn texture I believe when created but it adds to the piece. Many Chancay pieces have gray beige tone with black painted designs and this is no different. Really intriguing piece to have in a collection. I will be sad to part with it. Culture: Chancay. CA 1000-1300AD. Provenance Artemis Gallery item sale. Ht 6 inches. Width 5 inches, depth 1 inch. There are areas of discoloration on it as per photos. There are manganese deposits. And root markings inside. It is a smaller item with usual minor surface scratching but a cute piece good for collector wanting to spend less money or who want an unusual piece. Use it to keep paper clips in. Pre Columbian Nayarit warrior, artifact, pottery, vessel, relic, antiquity, COA
Great figure of authentic Pre Columbian terra cota figure of what appears to be a warrior with shield. It has been noted he may be a ball player because he is in act of throwing what may be a ball. However the ball games in much of Mexico were played with a larger ball and with the shield I believe he is warrior. Throwing a rock. In any event, he is in action. Most of the similar items I've seen have the man with a sword so this is a rare form. Piece is in good condition with good manganese deposits. This is a Western Mexico piece from Nayarit culture. Purchased from Artemis Gallery. Dealers in antiquities and a COA is available on request. Wonderful collector's piece. 6 1/2 inches tall. 5 inches long and 3 inches wide. Large chimney makes me think maybe used as incense vessel, but it was entombed and buried at some point. Lots of good manganese deposits and maybe root markings. I think it is a llama. House trained and requires little feeding. Animal figures can be very adorable and this is one of them. Great glaze and color intensity. RARE Pre Columbian Vera Cruz dying Deity terracotta artifact art pottery COA
This is a rare and very unusual figural effigy of a Pre Columbian terracotta. Pottery dying deity figure lying on a bed with a blanket. It has also been described as a sleeping deity. In any event it is a real eye grabber. Figure much more realism based than a lot of Pre Columbian art complete with open mouth and teeth. Figure lying supine with legs up and either dying or sleeping. Head has holes through it but I don't know the meaning of this. He is not demanding and will not ask much attention. This really caught my eye and is a striking Vera Cruz artifact that will really be a conversation piece. I purchased it from Artemis Gallery and it comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
