No folds, no tears, no repairs, no holes, no water damage, light foxing in the right edge and the color is very nice. Measures 10 1/4" tall by 15 1/2" wide. Antique 1883 & 1877 Tobacco Special Tax Stamp Cigar US BEP
Internal Revenue Service Special Tax Stamps issued for"Dealer in Manufactured Tobacco" One was made for 1883 for $5. And then was overstamped with $2.40 by the act of March 3, 1883. The other one was made for 1877 for $5.00. Both have cancellation cuts, and some wrinkles, folds, and small tears at the edges and corners. Otherwise in very good shape for their age. The individual sheet measures 7 x 14.5 inches. These were to be displayed by the retail store that sold the tobacco products. Antique Art 1883 Lot Of 2
I had purchased a box of records from a guy who is in property management and cleans out(sells) homes and does estate sales. Neither of us realized until after the fact that there was antique art from 1883 in the box with the records. Nonetheless I have these two pieces and know nothing about them other than the following: 1. They are originals and have a signature on them but I can't seem to make it out and don't have time to take it to a specialist. 2. They were found as is with no frame. 3. They measure 7 1/2 in by 5 1/2 in 4. The wood seems to have warped after 131+ years of existence. Even this is only about 1/4 of an inch as you can see in the picture taken from the side. 5.
