Completely intact. DETAIL: A hand carved jade pendant about 2.000 years old attributable to the Han Dynasty of ancient China, about 1st century B.C. What lapis lazuli, carnelian, and turquoise was to the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean and Mesopotamia, including the Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Sumerians, and Babylonians; jade was to the ancient Chinese. This pendant seems to have two“faces” to it. With the point(the narrow end) on the bottom it seems to be a stylized face. But with the point at the top, as it seemingly would have intended to be worn, it seems to depict two figures, back to back, sitting beneath a tree. It might be a reference to the male and female personification of“Yin and Yang” The symbolism of Yin-Yang, also known as“Tai-Chi” refers to the I-Ching concept of the cycles of life, the balance between them, sometimes equated with the cyclical relatio

Providence: Included Artifact Authentication from Jackson Galleries. Dated 8/9/2011 This Red Colima Tripod was almost certainly part of the burial contents of a“shaft tomb” that was constructed in Western Mexico during the Late Preclassic and Early Classic Eras(150-500 AD) Although called shaft tombs. Several experts now describe them more as simple pits that were dug into the ground about 2 meters deep. This vessel. Like many others form this early period, is based upon gourd model. It is theorized that these vessels were part of a shamanic ritual and would hold food for the departed soul’s use as he/she traveled to the afterlife. eBay Note According to information I received. I certify that this Ancient Tripod Bowl was collected in Mexico between 1962-1968 by US museum archeologists and has since been decommissioned. With no written records of their own. Our knowledge of the Celts comes from their encounters with other cultures. The first major event is about 400 BC ... morewhen the Celts descended from the Alps and drove the Etruscans from the Po River Valley. Thus, the rise of their culture chronologically parallels that of the Roman Empire. Of larger stature than the Romans, Celtic warriors were fierce and fearless fighters who were never defeated by the Romans, but, by 386 BC they had captured Rome contributing to the fall of the Roman Empire. Like the Romans, they used chariots in war and subscribed to a pagan religion. Forged iron, 9 1/8 overall with broad tang for scale grips and characteristic opened ring terminal.
