Fantastic chest, sides and bottom are made of one piece of wood like a six board chest, grungy old original reddish brown paint, great detail and character, nice patina, dovetailed joints, hand forged iron handles. It has a lock and hasp but no key so the hasp sit uneven on the lock, should be an easy fix. Very solid, tight, ready to use, some wear to the original finish. It has a chip in the bottom of one of the rear corners, looks like it had caster sometime in it's life. It measure approximately 22" long, 15" tall, 14 3/4" wide. Antique 1897 Painted Scandinavian Dutch Blanket Chest Trunk Folk Art Primitive
This hand painted old chest is 53" long. 21" wide, 21 1/2" tall and I'm not sure what type of wood it is. It is dated 1897 and there are some names and dates written on the inside of the lid. There is wear- the paint is mostly worn off of the top. The lock has been removed and the keyhole plugged, the screws in the hinges have been replaced, there is some wormwood and the candle box has been rebuilt. The bottom"feet" have some rot and someone cut the worst off so it would sit level. Even with the wear to the wood it is still very sturdy and strong. Antique Cape Cod Grain Painted Blanket Chest Trunk w/ Drawer DELIVERY AVAILABLE
This is a very clean great looking pine blanket chest originally made in the mid to late 1800's on Cape Cod. This chest is grain painted and has a drawer that is stained a fairly darker cranberry color. Really nice contrast to the amber color of the rest of the case. The drawer has the original brass pulls. And the hinges are original as well. The top is fastened to a board along the back edge of the case top. The hinges are recessed into the wood. Very cool. There are great square nails throughout this chest. The back is 2 wide boards, unpainted. Over all the condition is great, just a few minor nicks and scratches as you would expect on chests of this vintage. No rot or damage on the feet. The dimensions are 18.5 W x 43L x 34.5H. It is a very fine example. There is some old touch ups& age wear. In addition, to make this unique shape the base wood is done in sections. There is a line running down the left side gesso& paint work. It is very stable again just age related. Shipping would be up to the buyer. Antique Scandinavian Quartersawn Oak Hand Painted Dower / Hope Chest Trunk
This is an absolutely gorgeous chest. The dimensions are a massive 58 1/2" long X 27' tall X 25" deep. The quartersawn graining shows beautifully through the washed green paint on the lid. Just an amazing piece that is even more impressive in person.
