In between the oak slats it has the original brown canvas on wood. The original leather straps on each side are still present. The inside has the original lift out divided wood tray covered in paper. Antique Flat Top Victorian Travel Steamer Trunk 1880 Canvas Decorative Old
This a flat top Steamer Trunk. It is canvas. I do not know anything about the history of it. It does say. In very small letters, what seems to be Potomac 1880. I am sure it says 1880, but I am not sure about the name. I can definitely make out Pot(o or p) mac. I am sorry for the quality of the pictures and I do have more pictures,but Ebay limits to 12. I do believe by the looks of it that it very old. It is what it looks to me like a Victorian style trunk. It is missing the leather handles on each side. The top does have one lever hinge. so the lid does open correctly. It seems to be missing the inside wood shelf. It has very small wheels on the bottom for moving around. One wheel is missing. When setting on the floor, the wheels are not visible. Spring loaded-drop down whichever they are. Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk / Vintage travel stickers/ Mendel Trunx - Lutz
This is a fabulous early 1900s black heavy steamer trunk lined with fabric. Once opened. There are 3 dropdown compartments which are suspended by sweet hardware from the era. All are covered with a nice blue fabric in great condition, and each closes with a small flat latch. There is a hanger bar front to back with several original wood hangers. there are tie rack bars running front to back on each side. The trunk compartment is lined with the original blue satin material sporting several shoe pockets surrounding the sides and back. This material should be replaced or refurbished. It is old and stained, torn in areas. Graphics suggest it is a Mendel Trunx. Label says Lutz of Washington D.C. There are heavy leather handels. And travel stickers on the trunk: one from Rome, and a couple of others. All in all. For your consideration I have a very nice Brass Studded Jenny Lind Style Stage Coach or Steamer Trunk. As you can see in the pictures it has brass studs. It has the leather strap handles. It is a great size measuring only 23 1/2" Long 14" Wide. And 13" Tall. I believe this trunk is made out of a hard wood and that explains the drying crack over time.
